1. Stopped detecting my phone as a key (yes I checked that the phone wasn't removed from the key and lock feature) 2. The map feature is horrendous, the default zoom is state level, which makes tracking incredibly hard. 3. Also loading in still takes forever when the app and car have been dormant.

Edit: it appears my phone's VPN has to be off to use this app now. This is not ok. A VPN should not stop the app from doing it's job. Usually, each iteration is better than the last, but the last few versions have been giving me constant "401 session expired" messages. This is pretty frustrating since it prevents the app from being usual until it finally decides to reauthenticate, or whatever it's supposed to do.

Updated 5/18: New updates are making the app, and car, worse! To be fair, model 3 doesn't ghost brake nearly as much as on the past. However, almost every other update makes something worse - like car tracking. Also, if QA is this overworked, maybe add a few more testers... Good experience since purchasing Model 3 6/2021. Regular updates bring new features and bug fixes so I haven't had many issues with stability.

One of the recent updates broke the car tracking capability. Before the upgrade, one could keep track of the location of the car as it was moving - the symbol for the car would be centered in the screen, while the map underneath would move. This is not there any more: it is now the symbol for the car that keeps moving, whereas the map stays static - which of course implies that one has to move the map by hand, in order to keep track of the car. Hopefully this is just a snafu that Tesla will fix soon; my fear is, however, that some GUI nitwit at Tesla has decided that this is better.

In recent months, the app has gotten much worse at waking the car up and allowing me to remotely access functions. Even when the car's connected to wifi or a strong cellular signal, the app often never connects to the car. Also, the 'phone as key' function will also fail when I am at the vehicle. Restarting the phone or toggling Airplane Mode off-on-off usually fixes the problem, but is very inconvenient. This is disappointing because these are new problems in the last 3 years

Tesla's software gets worse with each version. Just like in the car, they continually replace fully working features with brokenness and bizarre choices that can render a feature useless. This latest update to the app is no exception. The ability to watch and "follow" the vehicle in the map has been broken by an update to the zoom level. The map now zooms out to the level of a US state. If you zoom in, it stops tracking the car. At this "height", you can not see the roads that the car is on.

Decent when it actually works. So far it has been basically unusable in service mode (app either doesn't load or errors out if it does get past the initial loading / black screen), which makes it awfully difficult to communicate with the service team. Responsiveness of the app in general leaves a bit to be wanting, but the issue while in service mode is what really prompted the review.

The location map display is the worst I've ever seen in 4.8 1025. The default zoom is way too large. If you zoom in to actually see where the car is it zooms out again in about 6 seconds making it useless. The button to center the display on the car no longer moves the map with the car so you can't follow the car. The map is still in dark mode all the the time and continues to be unreadable by adults.

Lost all my custom utility rate plans. Find someone that knows how to build an effing app. Scheduled charging is terrible. You have to set it up every single time you plug in. It keeps defaulting to the first option instead of the 2nd one for begin charging after a certain time. The UX designers need to bring in some experts. The app gets worse with each release. Now the charging indicator doesn't show miles. Ffs it's a trash app.

Once again they've broken a feature with the location of the car on a map, making it pretty unusable. The map keeps zooming way out, sometimes while you're looking at it, always when you leave that page and then return, without even closing the app. Unfortunately reinstalling the older version means going through and setting up the app as a key for the car again which is not that easy. Do they even care? Doesn't seem like it.

Lately, I am not very happy with the Tesla App. It is taking forever to load sometimes not ever properly loading - stays in refresh mode for hours on end. I have been trying to schedule service for 3 days to no avail. The app freezes midway thru the process never getting to the part where I can schedule a time for mobile service or in-store service - so frustrating! I love my car and wouldn't trade it in for the world, but I cannot get service when needed, what is a person to do. This app really needs improvement to be able to respond when its needed. I have been writing for 10 minutes and guess what, the app is still refreshing itself and does not show the service link. At this point, I rather now use it!

I've been a long-time Tesla driver and have used this app for nearly 8 years -- it was slow at times but I was otherwise very happy with it. As of version 4.7.1-927, it was too slow to be generally usable, so I cleared local storage and reinstalled. On a fresh installation, the "sign in" button just displays a gray screen with an endlessly spinning throbber. This is something that would have come up in 30 seconds of testing, had Tesla cared enough to do that.

Very unhappy with the 4.x version of this as a Powerwall user. Had been sticking with 3.10.9 (which worked great) until recent changes broke authentication for that version. 4.x is painfully slow, doesn't show all info together (can only select home, grid, etc individually - which is slow to update), visuals aren't as comprehensive, and can no longer change TOU hours on the fly as easily. Sacrificing function in favor of form does not make a good user experience. * Edit: 3.x auth fixed. Raising.

Not impressed with this version (4.7.1-927). The old version had better ability to see detail on the energy graph for production/usage. I was hoping this version would add the ability to zoom into the graph, but instead they took away the units on the Y axis -- less useful. On top of that the graph is even smaller than the previous version. Quit trying to make the app entertaining and cutesie. Make it useful!

Poor network connectivity. The app refuses to connect to the car when the phone is on Wi-Fi. Doesn't matter whether the car is awake or sleeping or the car itself is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. I have to disable Wi-Fi on the phone. A 3rd party tesla app is able to communicate when the phone is on Wi-Fi. I have dozens of smart home devices that communicate just fine. This is bad code in the network protocol used to discover and traverse firewalls.

This apps isn't working for me. On the app the tracker doesn't show the vehicle in movement when driving. When opening the app it doesn't update your location. From the app the electric power is incorrect. This app needs more work. I have tried to uninstall this app, then reinstall and I am still experiencing the same issue.

My powerwall is discharging at the old peak time instead of the new peak time all the while I'm getting charged full peak time rates. Never had problems with the old version switching peak times at a snap. Why can't we just leave well enough alone. Sure wish you could help pay some of this peak time bill until you get the app to do what it's supposed to do when you want it to.

*April 2022 update. app responds much faster with solar. still slow for car Sept 2021 update. App is so slow. Takes forever to issue commands to the car when that's supposed to be improved. Turning climate on often fails when it never did before..... Keyboard overlays in service app so I can't see what I'm typing. Often cannot get into the car until I open the app on the phone despite all settings for sleep being disabled. Solar part is good! Other controls when connected seem to work well.

This app is mediocre at best. The user has very limited control and almost no options for what you really need. The "Charge from Grid" only works when Tesla remotely turns it on for weather emergencies. Unfortunately, IF they turn it on it will be in the middle of the storm when it's too late to charge. You cannot set the system priority to charging the battery (from solar). It ALWAYS sends a percentage of power out to the grid even when the battery is low. Ridiculous.

Performance is pretty bad on this app. I'm consistently waiting to connect to the car, and sometimes it just won't. I was excited to see the widget added, but it's poorly designed with bad feedback mechanisms, and struggles with the same performance issues with connecting to the car. I use mainly because there's no alternative, but it doesn't do their reputation any favors. I wish they'd focus more on performance as the features are worthless when it can't consistently connect to the cars.

7mo trying to be perfect for FSD beta score(92). :\ frustrating counterintuitive; hard breaking dings for not hitting deer, pullouts or 🟡 light. I'd call it safe&evasive driving but,ok👍 Prev issue fixed, now another one, headlights won't shut off 75% of time when I walk away. Not all have this when compared in parking lots. Great app usually but inconsistent in phone connectivity still--Sometimes doesn't connect or switch between phones. My android's slower vs iphone. Still v grateful.

Redesign fixed alot of problems, just takes some time getting used to it. A cool feature would be to design your home energy gateway screen to reflect your actual install. Nothing fancy but woule be cool instead of generic house. Even better to show which modules are producing, like a heat map. Also can widget also show home energy status? Keep up good work!

The original problems with the 4.x version of this app not receiving reliable status updates from the car have largely been solved at this point, so I'm improving my rating. I still hate the "dark mode only" location map, and the option to show your current position (in addition to the car's position) was very useful in the 3.x app versions and should be restored. The Charge Stats is a great new feature, but it's a bit buggy. I charged 100% Off-Peak according to SDG&E time of use billing, for the past month, but it says I charged 38% Mid-Peak, which isn't true, and is computing my total spent on electricity wildly higher as a result. This is quite likely to be a daylight savings time bug, and if so it may disappear within a month? or may continue to be a problem the rest of the year if Tesla is stuck in the wrong time zone permanently. Either way, it's worth fixing. It would also be nice to see the Total Spent displayed with dollars and cents when looking at each day. Rounding to the nearest dollar is not a problem on the scale of an entire month, but for an individual day when we're talking about $3 one day and $4 the next, it's super obvious that it's rounded in a way that is a mismatch with the scale of the money actually spent per day, and a mismatch with the scale of the fluctuations we're seeing in the number of kWh used each day.

It does its job for the most part. My main complaint is when it doesn't connect to the car right away and I'm stuck jiggling the car handle until it finally opens. Not sure what's to blame though - the app, the car, my phone, android, bluetooth, or some combination.

The font doesn't follow the system settings and is too small. The car interface is greatly improved. The solar interface is horrible and I would give 1 Star. The graphics are less clear. What could be seen in one graph now takes multiple graphs. I believe all the improvements in the car interface were more than wiped out with the solar portion. So much so, I would prefer version 3.

Recent versions of the app are buggy at best, frequently freeze, and take minutes to open and connect with the car. Typing text into a service request types over the text of the app and off the screen, making it impossible to see what you're typing. Attaching photos doesn't work at all. The contact email for Tesla is an account that's now closed, and sends an auto reply that it's not monitored. There's literally no way to reach Tesla to fix these bugs.

Revolutionary but rough around the edges. You can do truly unprecedented things with this app. However some of the UI elements are a bit raw. The charge limit setting is hard to adjust accurately and too easy to accidentally change. Inconsistent use of command versus status icons is quite confusing. I can't reschedule a service appointment in the app even though I am told I can.

The car is great, but I have not experienced a user interface so slow in a long time. For what is little more than buttons to send signals to the car and present some information, I don't understand how the app can require several seconds to catch up to input. Something is horribly wrong with the current implementation.

Added a star. Went from 3 to 4 stars with recent updates. Summon still sporadic but more consistent now. Main gripe is how long it takes to sync to car. I'll open the app and it's showing stats from yesterday. Location, battery, etc. Sometimes have to close app and reopen just to get it to sync so I can turn climate on for preconditioning. Keep the updates coming. I believe it is iPhone favored.

I only use this app to keep up with my solar and powerwall. Older version would allow you to overlay each option (home, solar, powerwall, grid) to see them together on the graph. Since the newer updates, this has been change and you can only see one at a time. Please bring back the possibility to overlay each so they can be compared more easily.

The tech is awesome and where it matters, in the vehicle & driving experience. The app and vehicle UI are great and get better w each update. This is what you get when tech heads are in charge. Tesla, keep up the good work and, what appears to be, the frantic pace toward tech improvement... for a truely better product & a better world. Thank you, thank you!

Prior to the changes made in the fall of 2021 I would have rated this app as a STRONG 5+++. The update in 2021 changed all that. The status screen on my cellphone is now focused on a graphic of a house. What is really happening seems to be secondary. The data graphs are not formatted in a way that is clear and easily interpreted - especially when explaining things to potential Power wall purchasers. The entire "impact" section could be eliminated - and I miss the orange frame during grid failure

Love this app! UI is sleek, intuitive, and super useful. Droid v12, the last update solved many of the issues with some of the latest enhancements (e.g., "View Details"). More granular control over charging schedules would be fabulous! Current choices: off-peak or start time are too limiting n don't acct for different drivers during diff days of the week. Tick-tack gripes: charging always stops short, e.g., 79% instead of 80%, and the est. remaining time shows to full instead of to limit.

A lot of times after trying to turn my climate up from the app, ill see that my windows are in vent mode instead. Even when raining.. And it doesnt show "close" windows or even reflect that it was selected until i close the app and reopen. And i only reopen it when the app bugs out and never changes the climate. But the windows "vent"?? Good lord

Pretty laggy given the price bracket of vehicle and it's the main way of accessing it. UI development could use some cleaning up, making it quicker and easier to access/customize remote features. This is useful for someone in the back seat, as the car will shut off once the driver leaves, despite the rear passenger having their phone connected. My partner and I switch off on driving or watching the baby in the back seat, so this situation comes up frequently.

I don't think all of the functions work, but it is a viable way to buy a Tesla, make service appointments, and chat with service people about the service appointment, at least. The most frustrating thing about this app is that it has a very slow response time. I mean, a slow response to selecting different screens.

App hasn't been able to connect to my model Y in 15 days now... it's stuck on spinning wheel with the message "last seen 15 days ago." I've tried reinstalling, restarting, etc, but nothing works. The charging status doesn't show, and app can't find location. It's very non-functional...

App can be a bit sluggish at times and could benefit from some additional features to control vehicles, but generally is a solid app experience that makes owning a Tesla vehicle more enjoyable. I do wish, though, that the app development team would try to launch the Android updates a bit closer to when the iOS ones get released.

App purports to offer time based charging and discharging of the battery to conserve and even sell back power during peak rates. The old version did... The new one does not ever discharge the battery at all. It renders our large outlay of money for the battery useless. $10k down the tubes. Thanks Tesla.

App is slow, buggy, and keeps getting worse for home energy products. Power usage/generation graph is impossible to use. Just now, we had a "power outage" but I can't find any information in the app about any kind of event. Local energy provider shows no outage in our area, so seems likely we had a huge fault with our Powerwall system. No information in the app. Doesn't tell me why the battery is discharging and why there's nothing coming in from the grid. Just horrible app.

Super slow and buggy. Not what I would have expected from Tesla with their reputation for cutting edge technology and software... Seems like they neglected to make a robust application despite it being an integral part of the user experience. It's a shame because otherwise the user experience has been great.

Routinely fails to connect to car. Moving map has incredibly bad lag, with onscreen buttons that don't do anything, and a panel for Supercharger locations that takes up half the phone screen space. A few features work, if and when the app connects, but it's far from reliable enough to be actually useful.

Been okay for Pixel 3XL User. It's just a little slow sometimes but it's just because it's communicating with the car. Please update charging schedule for off peak hours. Instead of just having the off peak hours ends at time, maybe just have a start AND end time so the car won't charge between the times? The car will sometimes charge during peak hours even though it's at peak hours. I don't know if it's a bug or if I'm using it wrong but specifying times is less ambiguous. Thank you!

"View details/Specs/Warranty" doesn't load. Don't like the battery charge slider, doesn't show the recommended set for daily charge. The app, same as car screen, should have a "Power off" button, just in case. The app should alert if tires pressure drops, so I can leave earlier to have time to put some air in the tires, would help not being late, etc.

The recent update has various bugs. When selecting "View Details" on the very bottom of the screen, it'll act as if it's loading to then crash and show the Tesla logo on an infinite loop. The other is when moving your finger across the new energy page to see the amount of energy you've used each day. It seems to be incredibly laggy and takes awhile to register each day when sliding a finger across that segment of the screen.

bug found in version 4.5.1-864 running on Galaxy S21, Verizon software update G991USQU5BULJ. When 'View Details' is selected from the initial screen, a Car Details screen momentarily appears, followed by a persistent blank screen with only the Tesla 'T' logo. Exiting the app and re-entering it will return to the blank screen. The only way to utilize the app after this behavior occurs is to force stop it and then restart the app. Uninstalling and reinstalling this app did not change this behavior. The 'Car Details' screen shows headings for 'Specs' and 'Warranty' with no information about either.

App works well although not perfect. I'd like to be able to set up a battery/cabin conditioning schedule which varies from day to day. Better yet, it could do this based on my calendar. Tip: If you are on Google Fi, you have to set up a Fi VPN exception to remote view through Centry Mode.

Love the M3P so much we bought a Y and reserved the Cybertruck. Thank you TESLA for listening to us and allowing customization of the Control buttons on the app! The app is too buggy for something that is controlling your vehicle - if I need to change something on my car quickly then waiting 5-10 seconds for the app to load is excruciating! Also, I am still very shocked that the app lacks the ability to program when it charges! You would think this was solved years ago, and instead they have a janky off/on switch on two separate screens and on Android, at least, can't be enabled at the same time?! Tesla dev team, take notes on Ecobee's schedule function.

Honestly don't understand how the app and car can have so many issues. The app sometimes take forever to connect to the car. Sometimes it doesn't connect at all. Recently, it's been having the issue where there's the spinning ball of death next to the words 'last seen 13 days ago." And it just won't update. Tried uninstalling, signing out, restarting phone.. nothing works. So frustrating.

Can't upload Service pictures. I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and a Model S. When creating a new service event, I can schedule the service through the interface just fine, however, when I go to add or upload a picture, I click on the camera icon, it opens the picture gallery, I chose the picture, and that is the end. I can flip the picture, crop the picture or rotate the picture and I can go back as in back out. There is no NEXT or OPEN or ATTCH button at the bottom to actually attach the picture. Otherwise the app is fine. It works in all respects.

App is fine, however after the latest update the new Tesla car UI is horrendous and frankly feels unsafe. Chief amongst my complaints is the way it forces you to tap multiple times on the screen, taking your eyes off the road, to do simple things like turn on the defogger or seat warmer. All of these were easy to do before. I've tried using the auto settings, they are junk. I've tried using the voice commands, they are laughably bad. Fix the UI, please!

Edit: Jan 2022: New app interface is confusing to deciper. It's okay, although at times its not accurate. When my heat pump and dryer are running simultaneously, the app is now showing I'm using 2.0 kWH. I can only WISH that were true!! App still feels industry leading with Bluetooth keyless entry, remote controls, and summon feature but lately the app has serious QA issues - as many others point out. For example, schedule charging and departure revert to the default 5am setting which makes it impossible to use the feature. Even more frustrating, the Android app lags updates iOS users get weeks in advance (where is sentry remote view!). I used to love the app but serious improvements need to be made on Android.

The best companion app for a vehicle by far. Has had it's fair share of little bugs but nothing that ruins the experience for me personally, your milage may vary. For those that can't get the live camera with sentry mode to work, I also experienced that but found turning off my Google Fi VPN allowed me to view the live cameras without issue. My guess is the "end to end encryption" Tesla uses for the live cameras doesn't play nice with VPNs.

I'm new to Tesla having previously driven a Toyota, a company that is notorious for low-tech UI, so take my review with a grain of salt. I love most of the app features. Full control of and line of sight to your car from anywhere in the world is awesome. Preconditioning the climate and battery is great. Managing charge limits and sentry mode is convenient as well. My only complaints: -slow wakeup of the car at times -can't set directions from the app (likely a glitch for the Android app)

Dec 22, 2021
Always takes way too long to "wake up" (minimum 15 seconds) and often doesn't ever wake up at all, so you're just staring at a darkened screen for an indeterminate amount of time. Been this way with two different Model 3s over the course of 3 years. Regardless of connection quality. They have never improved it. It has always been bad, and makes one of the primary features (ability to turn on HVAC before going out in the cold) pointless. The app is borderline pointless because of this.

Mapping Long Trips! I wish Tesla would let us map out our trips through the app. It is hard to plan out a long distance trip when you don't know what time you need to leave based on charging stops. Even from the car it is super hard to plan a long distance trip. Also, I want to add stops on a long distance drive and that is not an option. I would love it if the app mimics Google's functionality. The map on the website is useless.

Used to work great, after the last update, will work as a key, but other than that, always says disconnected and times out on cabin heating requests, etc. Sentry cameras don't work, just spins and then comes back as unavailable. Went from a great app to a better looking but ultimately far, far less useful app.

When I precondition the car it feels great to get in and have the seat all warmed up and the cabin at the desired temp, but the steering wheel stays cold since the steering wheel heat option is not available on the app. The ability to see through the cameras remotely and folding the side mirrors would be a cool feature for future updates as well. Just a thought

Mostly functional but has some menu quirks that make it not entirely user-friendly. If you want your car charged to some level by a certain time, you need to go to Schedule, and Departure (NOT Charge!) then below where it says "Off-Peak End Time" turn it on and put your departure time in there. Goofy interface but it works. STILL WAITING for the Android app to catch up with the iOS version so we can see the sentry cams remotely!! Must be some technical hold-up.

Latest update that includes live sentry mode works great. However, the climate control is now no longer functioning correctly. I cannot turn on the steering wheel warmer from the app anymore. When I have preconditioning set for the morning the app shows climate controls are on but when I try to turn on the seat warmer I receive a failed message stating I cannot warm the seats with the climate off. Climate must be turned off and back on to get it the seat warmer to work.

The car is great, the mobile app is hit or miss depending on version. They often have updates that introduce significant bugs. Right now, the heated steering wheel icon is missing. The problem is when it doesn't work, it's disabling since certain things can only be done via the app. I'm trying to schedule a service appointment and I get this error, "ERROR Mobile service is currently unavailable. Unable to get service appointment list". Also, the calendar sync stopped working with the latest update.

After installing the latest update, my Summon won't update my location 50% of the time (so it doesn't work), the climate control almost always fails. Just yesterday my car didn't recognize my phone as the key to drive, but I was able to get in my car and use the things on my app that normally don't work. I want the old app back!

The home page of the car service category no longer shows upcoming service appointments. What a dumb change. The app doesn't even give you notification of service appointments among many other things that it should. Miss your appointment? The app will quite literally block you from using any of the functions for your car saying your car is in service, even though its not in service or even at a service center. The app is also slow to respond, which I feel is less than ideal in 2021 for such a high tech cutting edge company. I do like the ability to swipe between car and energy but it stops there.

One Star Until the Android app gets the same treatment as the iOS app. Then and only then I'll give it a fair score. Also, the app takes a long time to connect to the car. Sometimes I just want to heat up the car but the app takes too long. And live sentry mode viewer it's slow and sometimes doesn't connect. Please fix this

Love the app. Has some issues though. Most recent update has removed preheated steering wheel. Also, the scheduled departure time via app does not work correctly, it will not allow you to select the time. The new live camera mode has some problems with connecting as well as the mic sometimes not working. Also, id love to see even more features such as checking tire pressure remotely. Absolutely love all of the features so far though.

The new UI is classy but its performance is horrible. Think about it this way - Keykess driving - Initial launch - opening / closing of both trunks - page navigations All of these take more than 1 minute. In fact in the busy SF streets the keykess driving just hung my entire device and I was helpless. I hope the engineering team would consider significantly improving the perf than launching all new UX.

Eh. It gets the job done, but I find the time it takes to actually connect to your car so that you can do things like adjust the temperature or open the charge port is annoyingly slow. Often it's faster to just walk to my car and manually do it, which sort of defeats the purpose. I feel bad complaining because the car is otherwise amazing, the app just feels a bit sluggish

Solar Energy customer- This update is awful. While there is more information available, the way it is displayed is terrible. The TOU control for Powerwall doesn't work! It worked on the previous version. Readability and responsiveness are terrible. With no way to roll back, we're stuck with a really bad app that is necessary to interact with a system we paid for. Tesla please roll back and try again!

The latest version of the app has a new feature that allows you to schedule preconditioning on departure. On my Android I am unable to set a time. When I attempt to set a time it immediately resets itself to midnight. Pretty obvious bug that should have been caught in QA. I would love to use the new feature but it is unusable currently. I will update my rating when this gets fixed.

Overtime this app has gotten more and more bloated. They had added more features overtime and the ui itself is easy enough to navigate and not the worst in tech, but the issues are not worth the small improvements. With every major update the app takes longer and longer to communicate with my Model Y. Want to roll the windows up? Wait a whole minute now for the app to reconnect with the car first. Sometimes after work I'm stuck in a parking lot waiting so I can unlock the doors and go home.

The new app is good, but everytime I set a charge time via the app it resets to midnight. I can't set it to 8pm they the app. When I plug it in in the afternoon it starts charging immediately. I don't know if the app and the car have a conflict, but since I updated the app I've been having a lot of issues with schedule charging.

They only care about iPhone. No way to report problems, including bugs, introduced in updates that linger for a long periods of time. Time. For example, navigate to car used to work but no more and this is a very used feature for me at least and for anyone else in an emergency.

I like the redesign look and feel but climate controls are a little buggy. I would click in to turn on the seat warmers and sometimes the warmer icons would not be aligned correctly with the seat, preventing me from turning it on. Sometimes turning on the climate would result in a loading icon that doesn't complete unless you back out of climate controls and click back in. Separately, when will the Live Sentry feature come to Android?

Latest updates are the worst. Charging limit bar constantly changes on me. I set it to charge to 90% and I look later to see it has either gone over the 90% possibly causing unwanted and unrealized degradation to my battery or a little under so I now have to charge to 80% on the bar which then also just changes to 81 or 79. Miss the old app for sure.

Bugs, bugs, bugs in the latest release. The new function to schedule the charging and preconditioning time based on your departure time simply does not work from the app. Strangely, no matter whether you use the clock or type in the time the app changes it to some other random time a few seconds later. Now that the app displays the status of the battery heater, It would be a very nice feature If there was a precondition button to turn it on without having to turn on the entire climate system.

I used to be the biggest fan of this app. Everything you needed - fast, without the bloat of most apps... Now they've tried to integrate service appointments and it's complete garbage. So slow to do anything, and if you're in a low coverage area (not a dead spot, just slow service) it's completely unusable. The service menus take minutes to load, the just close for no reason. Trying to ask is answer a simple text about a service appointment takes 15+minutes. They NEED to fix this ASAP!

App used to be good, now it's trash. Managing certain aspects like charging were easier, now they're much more difficult with settings like scheduled and preconditioned charging. Whenever an update is released, the default settings are replaced and you end up with unknown settings replacing your previously set charge routine. Whoever was Tesla developing software for them in the past needs to be rehired... Really sad current state this app is in when you consider how much is paid for their 🚗.

11/2021 Tesla smacks traditional autos with a gauntlet and raises the bar. Better than a key. Let's you control many aspects of the car now (summon, locks, charging, too much to describe). New app addresses many prev shortfalls. Got powerwalls and you can see energy usage. New app ver requires vertical swipe down to refresh data otherwise app will show stale energy data of previous days for powerwall/solar section. Downside: More cumbersome to see supercharging stations.

While this app is certainly not perfect, it's pretty awesome and continues to improve. Features include easy preheating, built in car key via Bluetooth, door/window status, charge status, charge scheduling, live map location, subscription management, and ability to freeze your wife with AC until she realizes she left her phone at home. I wish it did a bit better at waking the car but its improved tremendously in Q3 2021 thanks to the new update waking when turning on climate control.

Some better, some worse. I like that the app has added some features. Unfortunately I don't like the location map because it has become dark. Too dark to see quickly. Also it's glitchy and has pauses. The location and map features just need some refining.

Used to be great, but now it's almost worthless when it comes to checking my Powerwall setup. I'm constantly bombarded with a "Check Internet Connection" message despite my Powerwalls having solid network access. The new home screen looks nice, but the new graphs are abysmal and are anything but easy to read or understand. Tesla should have just left things alone. I don't want to second guess my solar monitoring software and Tesla has definitely made me do that. Fix it guys, this is BAD!

Mostly okay. I only have the car, so I don't use the other energy stuff. I do have two issues: 1. The Android version seems to consistently lag behind the IOS version when new features are added. 2. Viewing invoice from service appointment doesn't work. This was my first time visiting a service center so I don't know how many versions back this goes. When I click on "Invoice" my phone very briefly flashes to Adobe Reader, but then moves over to a dialog offering me six different (apparently random) apps to open the file. The problem is, none of these apps will open a PDF. When I look in my downloads file the invoice isn't there to open manually. The invoice shows up without a problem on my wife's iPhone.

Removing a star because of the new Summon buttons. Please add back the text for "Forward" and "Reverse". Having only arrow icons is way too confusing. I'm forced to guess which perspective those arrows will operate in. From the perspective of the car, or from my perspective standing outside of the car?! With text labels, there is no cognitive load and zero guesswork.

This app doesnt work for solar customers. When you try to sign in, it takes you to a hub, when you click on your account, it takes you back to sign in. It loops this way endlessly. Then, if you click on billing it takes you to an area to buy a car. It's completely useless, plus there's zero info on calling customer service. Only emails that they never answer

Whenever I look for the nearest supercharger stations it almost always shows me the results from a previous location 50-100 miles away. But I no longer see the nearby charging stations. Weird.

This app runs like hot garbage. I know I've got an old phone, Samsung Galaxy S7, but I use plenty of more complex apps without issue. The app works well for the most part. The safety rating claims that the definition of hard braking is a backward force of 0.3g. But it's nearly impossible to step on the brake, no matter how gently, without generating a hard braking signal. Sometimes, even a safe driver needs to step on the brake. There are also frequent spurious forward collision warnings when there is nothing to collide with.

Without question, the latest version of the Tesla app interrupts audio playback on non-tesla Bluetooth devices whenever the phone key comes into range of the paired car. What is this like? Bluetooth headphones pause as I walk around my house due to the phone coming within range of my car. I'm essentially incapable of using phone key, and that's a huge bummer. Fix this.

8/11/20: Great app! I would love to see the ability to stream dashcam & sentry footage, or even just get an alert when sentry is activated and recording. I would also like to see window controls like vent/close added to the persistent notification. Update: the new widget is nice looking, but pretty much useless - please add actual controls, such as climate control, unlock doors, windows up/down, etc... Eagerly awaiting the imminent addition of scheduled departure functions via the app.

They ruined it. The energy/solar features are laggy, way less easy to read and way less useful. It was great before, now it's unintelligible. Notifications don't work. Sadly, the recent update of the mapping feature is terrible. Dark background doesn't play well with certain map graphics, car doesn't stay centered when map is in car-following mode, map buttons (including car-following mode) don't respond to touches half the time, and pinch and drag to zoom out won't stay at zoom scale selected (keeps rebounding back to zoomed-in settings). These are all regressions from the previous implementation of the mapping features, which didn't have any of these bugs.

I started noticing odd early morning i.e off peak use of the powerwall and couldn't stop it from dipping to very low charge states, so I updated the app. Pretty non-functional at this point, giving a "check internet connection" message 90% of the time. I logged in via the Gateway to verify that the actual Powerwall had a great connection to the internet, so something is off with the app.

The messaging in this app (with service centers) is a little broken. The keyboard covers what you're typing and it always thinks I have unread messages no matter what I do. Please fix these bugs!! So disappointed with the recent update. Old version was so clean and easy to understand. New version can't connect when I have a cellular connection, says "no connection to the internet" when I actually do. I lost the ability to track power outages. Apps and data load more slowly. I do like how the main screen now shows home power usage instead of having to click once to see it. I think that's the only improvement. App is perfectly functional when connected to Wifi, so I guess I'll give 2 star

Updated down to 1 star. Used to be 4. Since the redesign I constantly get an error about being unable to connect to the internet. If I close the app and restart it, suddenly it works again. Then while using it if I change to view different data, it will lose connection again. Totally unacceptable. Never had this problem before and the phone isn't losing connection with the internet. And neither is my tablet (2 different devices don't magically have the same problem without the app being at fault) Also with the redesign you guys lost sight of the concept of a y-axis. Label it, clearly, and give us a few grid lines. I should not have to try to click (not easy to do) on the graph to determine an actual y-value. That's just bad interface design. Do you guys ever even try using your own product? This is screaming obvious.

(Oct 2021) Just when i thought it could not get worse. The "updated" app only shows Jan production for the last 8 years. That's on top of the previous issues it had. More or less useless for energy tracking. (Orig)This app is worthless. The lifetime production on my solar system shows less than it did yesterday. month/day/year totals do not match. Missing a full year of production. It doesn't look like Tesla is going to do anything about it.

The app isn't bad, leagues above other car apps out there. I give it 3 stars because it's just not good enough for a tech company. No major updates, not enough useful tools and screens. All car settings and especially the charging scheduling should be mirrored in the app. There should be a way to put the car into "Deep Sleep" remotely. There should be a way to check on the car and verify it's in "Deep Sleep" from the app without waking it up. Phantom drain when the car is awake is ridiculous.

This new version of the app is pure trash. It doesn't work and what it does display cannot be believed. According to it, my solar generation has been zero for days. The prior version worked great, was completely intuitive, and provided a clear picture of where your power was going.

The latest update was a substantial downgrade for powerwall owners. The way the app presents and downloads data is much less useful. Providing net and average values for grid usage is meaningless when I buy and sell power at different rates. The old app also had more granular data and a much cleaner presentation. The update looks nicer, but sacrifices so much usability.

Change for the sake of change is not always a good thing. This update proved it. I would give a zero if I could. I agree with all the other reviews. This is a step backward. Old version was much better. They removed functionality and made interface nonintuitive. I need glasses to read the text now. House icon is stupid and useless waste of space that forced smaller text. I was hoping for multiple peak times.

The older version of the app was fabulous for both car and powerwalls. The new version istill works well for my car. The new version is terrible for the powerwall side. Instead of reliably giving me info on where power is going, it 100% of the time tells me to check my internet if wifi is enabled (all other apps work well with Wi-Fi). If I turn off WiFi and only have cell data and it's a time of day or night when I expect there's little tragic hitting the cell tower, I can see data sometimes.

WTH? This upgrade is terrible. I no longer have a scroll bar to read the info off of the graphs, and they got rid of the balanced mode which allows me to prioritize both cost savings and my usage of self generated power. I tried to manipulate the system to limit the off peak time to when the sun is up so it will use battery power again at night (and stop pulling from the grid) and then it started drawing down the power from my battery during the "off peak" time instead of charging the battery!

OMG, this is awful. Please let me go back to the previous version. The text is small and the contrast is awful. I can't read it. The slider for the charge is impossible to use. The location map is herky-jerky and slow to update. I used to be able to see the speed of the vehicle on the location page, but now I have to go out to the main page to see the speed. I prefer to have a charge tab where I can see nearby Chargers. Please bring back the old u i.

The old version worked fantastic, it was one of the best apps on my phone. It would almost never glitch, it was easy to see an easy to use. This new version is positively hideous. It glitches continuously, works very slowly, and is missing features I had before. Plus in bright sunlight it's almost impossible to read the text, which is most of the time, since I'm usually trying to use the app in the parking lot. Tesla should just completely reverse course and go back to the old app.

The updated version is awful for power products - the reports are all broken (they show my solar stopping production around noon each day, same with my home power usage etc...) - you can't overlay production and power usage in the same graph any longer, they're all forced to be separate and the UI overhaul is unnecessary and isn't helpful - the old UI was much easier to see and understand what was going on - didn't need the sexy "top down home view" to understand the flow of power. Update was clearly pushed out before it was ready for prime time - very annoying to have it forced on us.

The latest update makes it really hard to understand the energy production of my panels and consumption of my house as well as the in and out flow of my Powerwall 2. The previous version of this app was much easier to read and understand. The new version seems to be more concerned about silly graphics for house, panels and Powerwall than actually displaying the needed info. The font for the numbers seems smaller too which makes it harder to read. The previous version was MUCH better.

Better than most car apps but limited. No sched departure from phone. No set destination from phone though does sync with calendar (not reliably) and car nav picks up destination from next calendar event. Some of these are promised as enhancements but never get added. 1 star for the bad support. If you need to message service center, the whole messaging component is blocked by keyboard, it's not really functional. As this is the means of talking with service center, and the email listed in play store is defunct, this app gets a 1. Last seen X days ago. Scroll wheel reboots and phone resets are a temp fix but always breaks again.

New version phone key often does not work and cannot get into my car. I'll end up needing to get my phone out, kill the app and start again, wait, and then car unlocks. I get the spinning wheel more frequently too... doesn't matter if I am on WiFi or LTE. This is happening again as I write this, the car is plugged in and I cannot connect to it to change charge limit... it hasn't connected for 20mins. Fewer issues with the previous app version, I hope this new one improves.

Someone need to have a serious 1:1 talk with the lead ux designer at Tesla... This app update (4.02) is broken. Like many have said: tiny text, unintuative controls, much more difficult to use. For example, changing the % charge setting is crazy - I have to poke and stroke the new slider like I'm petting a small dog, trying to get it to respond. Never had problems with the previous ui design (it wasn't perfect, but at least the controls were obvious and responsive).

The car and app are definitely better than the software on my Honda minivan, but I have higher expectations for Tesla being a tech company. The 4.0.2-657 version of the app with my Pixel 5 has failed to start my car as a phone key twice now. Airplane off/on doesn't work; I have to reboot the phone. Not sure if it is the app or my car but since this new app update charging to any round number like 60 or 70% yields a final charge that is 2% less. Basically ends at 58% or 68%. Setting the charge to a specific number like 63% yields an accurate 63% final charge. Last comment has to do with the powerwall section. Why did they decide to get rid of the easy to understand "circle dispaly" and chart? The new graph may have more info?? But reading data from it now is a chore.

The PW display is not as good as the old one. It could show all 4 graphs clearly top half of the page and text detail bottom. This one has stuff with small text in different places. Good software gives the information needed with the least button clicks or page swipes. This version fails...

I use this app for the energy side of thing. In my opinion, the redesign of this app was a step in the wrong direction. All of the information is still available, it's just that the display for it now isn't as clear as it was previously. I also want to confirm what others have stated, this app has been reduced in functionality. And the options for controlling how the powerwall is used have also been reduced.

Update is horrible! I don't have an electric car, so I don't care about those changes. However, the eliminations of the ability to view one graph or overlay multiple graphs, removal of scale in the y axis on all graphs, elimination of Balanced TOU, ruining the TOU option that is left, and making the font so small it is very hard to read make this version nearly unusable. This update is not an upgrade, and needs to be rolled back immediately! Tesla really blew it with this one.

Sept 2021: update is disappointing, with difficult to read text, graphical fluff, and no actual new features. Sure it's pretty if you're on a tablet. Ultimately the poor legibility and overly complicated graphics reduces the utility and functionality of this app. (-3 stars) ORIGINAL REVIEW: great app! After the last app update, when I go to charging tab, charging port opens automatically. I do not necessarily intend to open the charging port when I check my charging setiings so this is quite annoying, be it a bug or fearure, especially if I do it while away from the car. Please consider correcting it and making a separate button for opening the charging port. The way to reproduce the bug: 1. Open the app 2. Click charging tab. The charging port opens.

Think twice before "upgrading"... I can no longer set peak/off peak time, the app repeatedly stalls for 20 sec. with an internet connection error, they killed the overlapping energy graph capability. Worst update ever! Information for Powerwall and solar is less useful and harder to find/read compared to the previous version. Multi-car support is worst than before. Constant display of "Disconnected" car is unnecessary if I'm connected to another car. Expanded in app purchases just makes it easier for people to inadvertently order accessories. Missed opportunity to individually open the side doors on the Model X. Missed opportunity to close windows on the Model X.

New version is impossible to read, using gray on black with poorly executed diagrams. The older version gave me immediate info on energy usage. This version makes that difficult. Engineers should be required to share updates with user focus groups before implementing changes. Can you at least make this lighter - black and gray may be nice for decorating but if you want someone to read this info, it's not helpful.

The new Tesla app is terrible! The graphics for the car is too large relative to useful information such as battery state, setting charge level, and more. In addition, for my powerwalls, the update caused the app to stop talking to my gateway and I don't have any charging or flow information now. Finally, there's no need to show a house. Just show the clear power flow among grid, panels, batteries, and home consumption. The order app is far far better.

Insulting and wasteful. For solar & Powerwalls; no car: this is the worst update of any app I've used in 12 yrs on Android. The UI is awful, wasting more than 50% of screen space with... USELESS GRAPHICS or just blank. The old version showed meaningful stacked graphs, displaying units on both x & y axis to assess all energy flows (solar, to/from grid, to/from Powerwalls, & to/from house) simultaneously. The new version, for dearth of info it does offer, shows only 1 flow; doesn't normalize the basis between flows, displaying truly different info for Powerwall vs. House consumption, as example. Tesla customers beware! You're getting punished and insulted with this unfun toy app, now stripped of any meaningful info representation. Shame on you Tesla. You're capable of so much better.

v4.0 of the app has a great look and feel for vehicle controls but changes for energy products have made things worse. It's impossible to get the same graphs and data that have previously been available for years. For example, with the previous version, I could do a monthly graph and instantly see which days my solar production exceeded my household usage. It's impossible to do that or to stack the graphs in the new app. There's also no date picker, so you can't easily get intra-day data from a date in the past. Also, Balanced mode has been removed, changing how our Powerwalls work with our solar system to power our house. Now if we try charging a car during the day, it drains the Powerwalls and sends solar to the grid. With Balanced mode, we were able to use solar to charge the cars and power the house and save the Powerwalls for peak period. Please bring back Balanced mode or add a scheduled self-powered mode. Those of us using Balanced mode aren't interested in "cost saving".

New App update is Terrible!!! I don't like the new layout. It is not as user-friendly as the previous update. I can't switch off from grid to self-powered as easy. I also can't change it to backup mode only. I have a storm headed my way so I usually like to set it to backup mode only so I have a lot of juice in my battery. This is not the case so it is difficult to navigate and set up.

The new design looks good, but its responsiveness has gone way down, and the UI for solar products is horrible. It isn't possible to view all four energy graphs (solar, Powerwall, grid, and energy usage) in the same view, and the new way each is displayed is really confusing. The old version (3.x) was much more intuitive and responsive. It seems like they rushed this version out before it was adequately tested.

Version 4 improved car support but the Powerwall / Solar support is much worse. The graphics are not clear (skeuomorphic is do '00s). In particular the loss of the ability to show all 4 power dimensions on the same graph is a real loss. Also the graph data I frequently wrong, it does no automatically update. For the cars, the removal if the sync delay and not requiring the car to be selected are good improvements.

Not working on VPN ,. Every time I try to use the app for my car or my panels and battery it is asking me to log in but the video that plays at the beginning will not play with my Wi-Fi home VPN on. Also it seems that the settings made within the app for the battery is not very fast anymore in terms of changing. Storm mode doesn't immediately get turned .

Not a fan of the new charging design. I want to be able to set the percent of charge. I follow the 20-80 charging rule, but change it for trips. I should also be able to set the charging schedule. I also miss being able to see charging locations. Need better communicating with tesla.

Powerwall Notifications? Yes, enabled but may not work. Since Tesla does not integrate with Home, or other items, grid drops and still run full power without routines or notifications thus system depletes overnight :-(. Fix Notifications and allow links to Google, Amazon, etc. I do like the options of pair phone, off grid, time option, % to save, and storm mode. Thanks

The new app Is a HUGE Downgrade and disappointment for my powerwall. Previously I could see my production in real time with overlayed graphs which clearly allowed me to track my demand and system function. The new app is confusing and doesn't provide me any real useable data to adjust how I manage my system. I used to be able to check my system production against my utility company and validate the data. I have tried hard to use this app but it is just not nearly as functional or easy to use.

I don't know how users are getting the redesigned app. I'm still on the old version. It works fine for me. I have a Samsung galaxy s21+ and a refresh model 3 SR+. For the most part I haven't had connection problems although a few times I tried to turn on the air conditioner from my phone and that wouldn't work. Looking forward to the update whenever it happens.

Missing essential features. The app really needs features to remind you to start charging your car if you forgot to plug it in by a certain time. Also, we need to be able to set a challenge schedule from the app so I don't need to go out and sit in the car to adjust it.

App works great for me so far. I do think it could use some improvement in adding support for doing some functions through widgets and/or quick action buttons in the Samsung notifications area. There are some third party apps that do this but it would be great if it was native.

Update is garbage. Don't do it! Using for solar. App is SLOOOW! Energy usage/production graphing is gone. Only top page graphic of current generation, to grid, and to home displays. Makes the whole thing useless. Restarted phone, logout/login, uninstall/reinstall, did not fix issues. If this is all app update launch bugging, why was it ever put out in this condition?

Light-years ahead of the phone apps for my other vehicles. Connects quickly and works 100% of the time. Would like some features added- like Netflix control from app while camping, etc. My Honda app is slow to connect and fails to give positive feedback when a command is successful 95% of the time. Occasionally m3 door will not unlock unless I first unlock the phone..maybe 15% of the time. Looking forward to better multitesla home support once my 2nd Tesla is delivered.

You kinda have to have it if you drive a Tesla. For the most part it is amazing. However it could be a bit more user friendly to reach the top 5 features quickly. Like open the doors or frunk. Try that with one hand while carrying some groceries and you see what I mean. Or unlocking the charge port? Also it is annoying that the car won't recognize your phone from time to time. I am sure this app could do a lot more. I.e. show your last played songs. See/modify your favorite play lists.

To Michael below, the persistent notification is able to be hidden. Press and hold the notification and it'll tell you the category, "phone key connection" and you can toggle it off and still receive other notifications. You can also turn that off in the app settings. To the other dude who complained about not being able to view sentry mode stuff on your app: that would require streaming data to your phone from the car, which is possible but would probably be difficult to see anything or view

Great app, great car. Model 3 unlocks everytime we grab the handle or pop the trunk. Using on Note8 and S8. It would be cool to program a destination into the app map so GPS is ready when you jump in. Keep up the good work! Update: ask and you shall receive! Thanks for adding more and more features like sending destination to GPS from phone.

This app is amazing in so many ways. It's the most convenient way to check on your car while you're away from it. Being able to check your battery life, warm up your car, unlock your doors, turn on your car etc. Is such a nifty feature. There are countless situations when my car was ready for an update but I was not near it at the time. This app allows you to start that update as long as your car is connected to Wi-Fi. Overall this app works very well and I've had no problems with it.

The Tesla app overall is good. I have 2 complaints about the Android version of the app: 1) when sending messages to service you can't see what your typing (the keyboard blocks the text entry box). When the keyboard appears the text entry box should move so that what is being typed in is visible while typing. 2) unlock charge port and close charge port move on the screen (due to charging stations list) causing me to inadvertently hit close charge port when I want to unlock it.

I have Tesla solar and Powerwall battery. The app appears to operate properly except when my air conditioner turns on. During the day the app shows spikes of increase solar output. This is confirmed at night when the app records solar activity when it is dark. When the. AC is on power from the grid stops graphing. Other than that seem to work ok when the ac is off.

I think there could be more information presented. More of what's on the controls display in the car. Also, it's very easy to accidentally make a purchase. I wanted to get FSD and selected it. I was expecting a confirmation box. Nope. Just spent $10,000. And Tesla makes it very difficult to unwind a purchase.

For a tech company this app is absolutely terrible. Chat based customer service (only) is fine if the services provided actually work. Scheduling service appointments is a tiring experience. First the chat box...when you expend beyond one line it doesn't automatically increment the screen so you can't actually see what you're typing or selecting. Then when I try to add pictures describing my experience it they never actually upload (they're often screenshots <1mb). Message threads disappear..

Looks good but buggy. Summon never works to connect to the car. By the time it connects it's embarrassing I could have just walked to the car. Twice. Also when logging service appts and replying to a message , the keyboard covers the screen where you are typing so you cant see. Also no way to report bugs from the app!

Great for the most part, however it has major issues when it comes to scheduling a service appointment. 1) It requires a valid phone number, however it rejects VALID 10 digit numbers, so the appointment can't be scheduled. I had to call instead which they don't like. They want you to use the app. Catch 22. 2) The keyboard overlay consumes half the screen and you see what you're typing. Grrr. 3) Editing an a appointment is cumbersome once it's in the system. Samsung Galaxy S7

Model 3 owner here. The app is mostly good. The charging page, however, appears to report the closest chargers using a straight line distance measurement. At my home it consistently shows the closest supercharger as being only 38 miles away, even though there is a large body of water in the way, and it's closer to 89 miles driving distance. The station actually closest to me is 3rd in the list. This could really ruin someone's day, if they were in an unfamiliar area.

Love the car but app could be faster with connecting. Also I have to open the app to even unlock the car despite being in range for phone to connect. Can be annoying when it's cold and I'm wearing gloves, or carrying items in hand. Except for slow connecting time, it's generally a great app for accessing everything you need on the car. Edit: had a setting that prevented the app from running in background. After turning that setting off the car now unlocks as I approach.

App works in most cases but has 2 bugs that are experience breaking. First is one mentioned many times in other reviews and on many Tesla forms. If you have a service issue and need to type on an Android phone, the text boxes are covered so you cannot see what you are typing and it is a pain. Second item is charging is interrupts when I open the app if already charging. It is not an issue with my home electrical setup or the UMC. As usual, Tesla is not responsive on this kind of thing.

When describing a service issue, the keyboard covers the text. Very poor design given that it is the only way to "talk to a human," assuming someone will actually read it. Summon disconnects immediately and gives an error code. Home link also doesn't work from the app, only the car. A lot of cool features; too bad none of them work.

Model 3 owner here, can't speak for the solar or powerwall features. The app works great for me as a Tesla Model 3 owner, with so many features that set Tesla apart from the rest of the pack. Its not super contemporary, but far better than most car apps I've seen. About once a week, it won't open my car until I've opened the app manually on my phone (pixel 3), but works reliably most of the time. A little slow to wake up, but has gotten better since i started using it in September 2018.

I enjoy the ability to control features of the car such as lock/unlock and the A/C. However, the service messaging system is broken. If your eMMC is dead, you can't connect to the app to schedule an appointment to have it repaired or review the status of your car. In addition, when it does work, the screen doesn't resize when the keyboard pops up - so you can't see what you're typing.

Horrible experience with messaging. The app would tell you to respond to a message and there is no way to do it, you just being redirected back and forth between pages. The service team suggested reinstalling the app and see if it helps. Seriously? I have the latest version and no other major app needs reinstalling to work properly (and it also doesn't help long term).

The Service part of this app is simply terrible. Some things - - When typing in the field to describe issues my phone keyboard covers the text entry field so I have no idea what I'm typing - I have unread Service messages that I cannot find. I think they are associated with a canceled appointment but I can't find that either.

Although there are a lot of Pros with the app. There's a con with the Service portion when you type a response the keyboard will show up in front of the text area so you cant see what you're typing. You're forced to type the text in another app then copy/paste it into the Tesla app.

The service appointment interface is terrible. Uploading images you just get a spinner. Adding and editing appointments it stays stuck at the date selection screen. Biggest issue is if you create a service appointment and then try and go back and edit it to add another service or image. It doesn't work at all for this. Other functionality is fine. Everything is great, until it isn't....

Very useful, although it still has the feel of an evolving app, which I guess it is. Would be nice though to replace the frunk button with the trunk button though for the main screen and lock screen notification. I can easily close the trunk if I hit that accidentally, but not the frunk.

The pros and the cons Pros: The controls for remote lock/unlock, start, venting and cooling the vehicle, tracking the charging, seeing the location Cons: The service portion is garbage. It is very glitchy and slow. For example, I tried to upload a photo to add to my service call and the app hung (this is one of many). The keyboard pops up in front of the window you are typing in so you can't see what you are typing (this one I see many others have reported)

I liked the idea of being able to text technician or service rep while car is in service, but it is obvious that the developers are not focusing on android, pixel phones. I have pixel 3XL and the keyboard covers the message window, i cannot see what I am typing so it makes sending a message on the app very frustrating at times. Messages do not change to "read" so it always looks like I have a message.

App is awesome, love to show it off,, but required for scheduling service and has some major glitches on Android. When scheduling service or sending messages to service team the keyboard covers where message is typing so you cannot see what you're typing or select text to correct. Super frustrating to have to type messages in another app and copy paste over... Issue on Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and Pixel 4. Also, cannot get "new notification" alert clear so constantly checking for new messages.

Messaging with service is a mess- takes way too long to respond and load, and then you can't see what you are typing because it doesn't re-size and the keyboard blocks the entry field. Even better, if someone sends you a message after service ends, you cannot respond to it and it doesn't recognize you read it so you have a permanent "unread message" notification. If you have two Teslas, the damn powerwall advertisement gets in your way if you accidentally swipe the wrong direction. A swipe either way should switch cars, not lead you to an ad that takes seconds to load. Also with two Teslas, it won't work as a key on a Model 3 while you have an S/X unless you are on the correct car in the app, even though the app can't act as a key for an S/X.

Messaging Tesla service is nearly impossible. As someone said already, the keyboard pops up and covers the message being entered. Sending it once done is literally hit-or-miss. And the text is tiny! If you never need to communicate with Tesla the app does well. It is a little slow, yes, but if that just bugs you to no end then keep in mind the old adage that patience is a virtue.

This app is too slow… it takes forever to connect to the car or load anything from the service menu. Also, the keyboard covers the NEXT button and input field when I need to type anything, which is pretty annoying. It's a useful app when it actually works but most of the time it takes so long to load anything that my screen turns off.

The new in-app messaging is nearly unusable. 1. No matter what, the app constantly tells me I have unread messages from the service team, even after I have read them. 2. When typing, the keyboard covers the region where you type. You cannot see what you are typing. 3. When you click "messages" it takes a long time to load. Please let us use our phone's default texting again like before.

Really neat, when it works. Doesn't work very often though, it constantly loses connection to Tesla's servers and sits there grayed out for 10-15 minutes at a time. Also, disconnects from the car, so the proximity unlock doesn't work. ALSO, the support message functionality was clearly written for an iPhone, ported to Android, and shipped untested.

Honestly disappointed This is the best there is? 1) no pre-conditioning "ez mode" 2) can't create scheduled departure time, charge rate 3) can't enter new WiFi for OS updates 4) dated UI 5) where's the "hey Tesla" voice option? Moreover, in the car No voice command for unlock charge port, fog lights, several others. But the fog lights is DANGEROUS. Menu diving when you already can't see well. Wth. It's good but wow there's a lot to be done. Given the reputation I expected more.

Messaging the service center doesn't work well at all. The message input dialog box doesn't float above the keyboard. So the keyboard hides what you are typing as you type. You have to dismiss the keyboard to see what you just typed. It appears that there wasn't much testing done with the Tesla Service selection of this app. I hope Tesla fixes this soon because it so difficult to use.

Sucks for Powerwall only. Very slim in functionality. You can only see macro level data and can't drill into it or download it. With 2 Powerwalls, I should see performance and capacity of each, not combined. App doesnt let you choose midnight as the end of peak time. It only goes to 11:30pm, resulting in 30 mins of peak charges. Can't figure out how load balance works with 2 powerwalls. Just a really dumb app with limited options.

The apps messenger service is horrible as it cannot scroll up while typing a message and the keyboard on a smartphone covers the entire message while typing. You have to minimize the keyboard to see what you typed as the message window is hidden behind the overlapping keyboard. Also, the messages from the service teams always show up as unread even though they have been read multiple times.

The car is great the app needs updates to get better control of the car. My Model X can’t control the climate worth a darn, the steering wheel heater and seat heaters can not be turned on unless the climate is on, when the climate is turned on there is no control of the air blowing from the floor vents, dash vents or windshield defrost, the car does what ever it wants, usually blows heat on the windshield making the top half of the car hot and the bottom half of the car ice cold. If I forget to turn off the steering wheel and seat heaters when leaving the car they stay on. No control of the blower speed or weather the air is recirculated or 100% outside air. When the car is cold I set the temperature for 74, but the app shows the temperature rise well above 80. All the other features are super, and keep getting better but the climate really sucks.

The idea is great, but functionality is very lacking. Most of the time it takes WAY too long for the car to "wake up" (frequently longer than the timeout on my phone screen). It just sits and loads for what feels like forever. This is a real inconvenience when you're trying to actually get something done or get your car warmed up/cooled down before you get to it. Often I try, but end up arriving at the car wondering "what was the point of this feature if I can't use it?

Android app needs some serious work. Multiple times now I've completely lost my progress while trying to submit a service request. The app will just go back to the home screen and I have to start all over. If you enter enough text in the service request description, it doesn't scroll properly and you can't see what you're typing, because the keyboard overlaps the text area. Extremely frustrating when the whole passenger side of your car stops working and you can't submit a support request.

The app cannot connect to my car at home if the car does not have a strong WiFi connection. Rather than detecting the poor connection and switching to 4G, the car holds the unusable WiFi connection, thereby rendering the car's data connection effectively gone. Phone manufacturers have gotten around this limitation with mobile phones, so it's not a technical limitation. Constant "multiple windows are down" notifications, despite all windows being completely up. No in app support options.

I've been using this app on my Model Y for three months now with no issues to speak of. On very rare occasions it won't open the door and I have to pull out my wallet, but that's maybe one out of 100 times. I have an $80, Motorola E5 Play phone with Android 8 and even with that, I haven't had any lag or any functionality issues at all other than what I noted above. The app itself is a beautiful thing, easy to use and well constructed. I have no problem giving it five stars and two thumbs up.

Needs better testing. I doesn't properly resize itself when the keyboard pops up. For example you need to be able to enter service appointment information without seeing the text because the text box will be under the virtual keyboard and will not move to visible area. It feels as if it has been auto-converted from iOS and never tried before publishing to Android.

The app unnecessarily requires putting in the password after updates . This is ridiculous. It's on my phone, I updated it, I should still have access. Lots of complaints about this yet it remains un fixed. The app does not sync adequately with the vehicle settings in all cases. For example turning off Sentry mode with the app to save battery while on vacation. The app indicated that it was off but it actually stayed on, significantly draining the battery.

The app in general is pretty neat. However, since the last update, it has been taking an annoyingly long time to connect to my car. Personal record is 27min. Sometimes it doesn't even connect and gives up. It would also be pretty damn great if we could have the ability to manually trigger a Sentry Mode event from the app. I witnessed several incidents already with people damaging/messing with my car and Sentry mode completely ignoring it. Save something like 10min before and after trigger.

Really hard to be critical of this app; it does pretty much everything it purports to do, and does it well. Coming from my VW e-Golf, where nothing about the Car-Net app works as advertised, this is a refreshing change. Only thing I wish Tesla did better is to not put the car to sleep so aggressively, as sometimes the app can't wake the car.

This app is really very useful as a key and gives the stats of the vehicle. It has the VIN of the car, time until charged and current miles left on the battery. I would make 2 suggestions. 1. Being able to set the time to charge the car or time to stop charging. It's possible because it can be started and stopped from within the app. 2. Be able to adjust climate blower speed when turning on climate control from the app. The blower speed will blow at the last manual setting.

Great App but could be so much more. Notifications are one thing- the app can and should provide notifications for the car being unlocked, driven, windows down etc. Also, would be really nice if charging could be scheduled from the car instead of just starting and stopping manually. The app has a lot of potential but is still limited in functionality. Would love to see some updates that allow for more.

I wish there were more options available. Linking the driver profile to the phone would be nice as my wife and I both use the car. The app takes long to connect to the car when in parking garages and if the phone is on the other side of my body, it won't automatically unlock the car. Overall, it's a good app and the options already in it are pretty good all around.

One of the absolute best features of a Tesla. Love everything about it. I have read complaints about some not responding very quickly. I had the same issue with an older phone. All cars should have an accompanying app like this! It's easy to use, convenient, and quite intuitive. However, it still can use a few more capabilities, such as the ability to (1) schedule charging times right from the app, and (2) receive an alert and view a live feed (or at least a snapshot) from the cameras as soon as Sentry Mode depicts something. Overall, we love our Model X and this very handy app!

Been having a hard time using my phone key to wake and unlock the car. Using Note 10+. Tried every single possible combination to get this to work properly. 75% if the time, I have to remove the phone from my bank pocket and use the NFC feature near the side pillar camera to unlock the car. Something needs to change. I will be happy to help trouble shoot and send looks if feasible. Thanks.

Useful but needs better car charging control. Specifically, I need to change charging schedules to match cheaper home electricity rates from time of use metering, with different schedules for each day, and I want to be able to do that from the app. Also, it's disappointing that there is only one login account per car. I also would like to view the car firmware update release notes in the mobile app. And on the web, for that matter.

The app provides some useful information although some of it is inaccurate. For example, the graphs that show my house's electrical usage bounces up and down way too much. Oftentimes it drops to zero, which I know is inaccurate, but then the next reading is high. It's it missing readings then making up for it the next time? I don't know but I wish it was more accurate.

Great app. Tip make sure your Bluetooth is on. Mine sometimes gets turned off while my phone is in my pocket... It's a pretty solid app, but it could use a little work on some widely reported glitches. For example, it sometimes won't unlock the door unless I hold the phone very close to the car. Also waking up for status info can get stuck and take a very long time to timeout and retry. The features are really cool, although it would benefit from enhancements there as well. For example, more charging options and info on the percent charge selected.

I love the idea of the app, and when it's working, I really love it, but there have been key moments when I needed it and it's stuck on "Waking Up". This isn't just lag. It is waking up for hours sometimes. Please fix the lag and the complete freeze of the app. It's an important feature of the car and if it's not reliable, then it degrades the overall joy of owning a Tesla. Lots of great ideas and hard work went into these vehicles. Fix the app out of respect.

Overall the app experience is great. Definitely better than some other vehicle apps I have used. I also experience key recognition issues occasionally but only once a week or so. I would also like to see additional features added like ability to shut off the "are you sure" when opening frunk etc. I would also like the ability to set or modify the departure time from the app. Sometimes my schedule changes in the evening after I have plugged my car in for the night.

Update: 12/13/19 Sadly, 40.50 broke Bluetooth again. App could not start, then later could not open car. WiFi worked not BT. Drove to site then was locked out with Sentry's red eye staring at me. If U can't count on app as key the rest of nice features R irrelevant. Tesla fixed next day but doesn't help when you're standing in rain locked out of car. Now that the initial BT connectivity problems are fixed, I'll revisit this. Overall, once you've got an app for your car, you wonder how you lived without it. But the actual execution is mixed. Doubly so with EV Pros. Wonderful to be able to turn on HVAC remotely before you get to your car. Nice 2 start frequent software updates. Cons. Can't schedule software updates, only start. HVAC control inhibited by in car settings, and that car temp is often wrong. Little awareness that multiple people use a car, and settings/ authorities need 2B diff. Can send nav links but not actual routes. Can't locate car wout GPS i.e. parking structures (needs WiFi RFF location?) . Stats MIA tire pressure, mileage per charge, no offline trip planning (import Google Maps waypoints)

Update: The problem is fixed by a setting on the phone. I am not going to change the rating however, because I think Tesla should have a checklist to follow when the phone key doesn't work. I would guess that they have seen my problem many times before and could easily suggest checking the settings as follows: On the S8 Settings/Device Care/Battery/Tesla make sure that Put App to Sleep is OFF. I think that a Tmobile update a few months ago must have changed the default of Put App to Sleep to ON. Before a few months ago (for nearly a year) the phone key had no problem. On an S8, phone key fails more often than it works. Intermittant, frequently stays nonworking and I must go through the key setup to get it to work. Tesla: Forget the games and get the phone key to work. I am going to have to buy a fob.

There's now a prominent button labeled (upgrades). I don't want to be reminded every time I open the app that I'm missing out on something! Furthermore, I'm concerned I could accidentally end up purchasing a $2,000 feature that I don't want, and never will want. This feature should have been located under: Settings => Accounts => Upgrades Why is (upgrades) as permanently displayed as the ability to unlock my car! This is completely against the company's aesthetics and design language!

Great functionality when it works, but very unreliable / buggy. Multiple times since I bought my Model S a few months ago the app won't connect. Currently I haven't been able to use the app for a couple weeks at all, just shows "connecting". Tried logging out and also reinstalling, no luck. Not only can't I access car functionality, I can't even get to other functions like requesting a service appointment.

Really good improvements from the last version. Love the ability to turn on car heat, seat heaters and steering wheel heater remotely. Only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is the ability to turn on the defrosts in the front and rear. Update: They added the ability to turn on the defroster remotely as well.

I love the UI because of how it is layout. Very simple and awesome ! The only feedback I'd give is for Tesla app to include the ability to control music from your app. Every now & then I'm the passenger sitting in the backseat with my baby and I thought it'd be quite a useful feature ☺

Good app, works well most of the time, although sometimes it's slow to connect to the car as the key. I find I have to take my phone out of my pocket and wake up the app before I get to my care to ensure it works right. I appreciate being able to heat or cool my car remotely prior to use, downloading updates remotely, and using summon to back the car out of tight spaces (ie. my garage) for easy access. A great part of the Tesla ownership experience.

App allows you to do amazing things with your car from anywhere: control climate/heated seats, unlock remotely, summon car anywhere in a parking lot or in/out of garage, update car software, set charge rate/level, vent/roll up windows, share destination to app, get alerts if car alarm goes off, check location of car, schedule service, get roadside assistance, remotely give someone else access to drive your car w/o key, put car in valet mode, and more! Literally, the most powerful app ever made!

Works well in all respects. I previously reported that I couldn't get it to make a durable "phone key" connection. That problem has disappeared now that I have a new Pixel 3a phone. So I've raised my score to five stars. The "phone key" feature makes locking and unlocking the car a lot easier; you don't have to fuss around with their credit card size "key". With the Tesla app I can check on my car's status from anywhere in the world. I can also do things like turn on climate control 5 or 10 minutes before I'm going to get in the car.

Nice app, very low latency sending commands to the car once the app is connected. It does take ~5 sec to set up the initial connection. Wish it had more features such as ability to see how much windows are open, which seats are occupied, the active app on the center console. Also the locked/open icons are not clear - not sure if locked icon means the car is unlocked and needs to be locked, or vice versa (could be better UX). Also should beep or something when the car alarm goes off.

Ever since the V10 update, I've found this app to be a bit more useful (remote defrosting and vent). Sadly I cannot give it a full 5 stars as I've had a couple very rare instances where attempting to open my door failed. The app also has a minor issue of connecting to the vehicle quickly, it'll still function as a key, but the app will take several seconds to give a love status on my Tesla.

provides access to most important features of the car. "most" of the time there is good connectivity to perform things like summon, turn on climate, start an ota update, control media volume, open trunk, frunk and unlock cars. also like the start feature that bypasses security code if car driven within 2 mins of activating it via the phone app. there is room for. improvement like connectivity of summon which will be used lot more with enhanced summon, adjust charge amps, adjust schedule charge.

I don't think I've had any problems with unlocking my car via low energy Bluetooth for many months now. I love that it keeps gaining more features alongside the car itself (just bought a video game controller for BBR2). Get the Model 3 if looking... range anxiety is fake bullsh*t, unless a very remote or very cold area. Unsure if still needed for best LEBT key, but just in case, DISABLE "POWER OPTIMIZE" & ENABLE "MODIFY SYSTEM SETTINGS" for this app. I still do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

About half the time the Bluetooth doesn't connect to my car. I have to enter airplane mode then back out to get phone to connect. Not sure if it's the app or my phone. Not having any other connectivity problems... I have never received any communication from Tesla over the app thru the Notifications. There is no other car - none- that I'd rather have! Best car purchase (investment?) I've made. Car just keeps getting better. Summons is entertaining. Works.

I'm glad you guys are working on updating this app, the solar data should be awesome for people with the solar systems. Though I'm just the happy owner of a Model 3. I'm a bit disappointed the app doesn't have WearOS support for information at a glance and the ability to turn on climate control. It'd be nice to be able to adjust car charging amperage. Also, about 10% of the time, the phone key seems to fall asleep. I have to pull out my phone and open the app. Overall awesome app though! :)

What happened to the same functionally of the Solar City app. You can't look more than 1 year back. You can't zoom into a year/month/day to compare how you're performing. Lost the hours of sunlight and cloud cover stats before we were forced to use this one. Hope the functionally can be added back.

App keeps getting better at least for Tesla car owners. One hint for issues with the phone key... make sure you disable battery optimization for the Tesla app. If you do not, the phone key will be disabled when the phone goes to sleep. Also, the phone key does detect proximity so even if bluetooth is connected, the car will remained locked unless the phone is near the doors.

SOLAR useful functionality lost. Solar City app is mich easier to read, simpler and has more functionality. Biggest loss is the real-time "NOW" reading that shows how much energy the house is currently using. Function is used a lot to increase conservation as I can see if unecessary energy draw is happening (if energy usage is a bit high and we are going to bed I know a light or TV has been left on in the house and i go find it). Doesn't give net readings for usage sources so have to do math.

App generally works great all the time. I love being able to control my car remotely, even updating the car remotely. Keeping it heated or cooled is the best. And I never have to wonder where I parked. Only thing I would like to see improved is the connection to my car when I walk up to get in. Probably a phone issue, but would be nice if the Tesla app could wake the phone and start trying to connect before I arrive.

The latest version appears to have screwed up my Powerwall. Every night since the update it randomly discharges during Off-Peak hours, when it should only be using battery power during Peak hours. I have tried changing the operating mode, but the Powerwall continues to randomly discharge whenever it feels like it. I contacted my installer (because Tesla Powerwall Support has never answered the phone or returned my calls) and they contacted Tesla, who said that it "appears to be functioning normally", which is ridiculous.

The app looks great and works without issue from a software standpoint but the information it provides cannot be correct. I have the Solar Power system with two Powerwall 2 units, but it does not accurately reflect whats happening. I can log into the power gateway and see real time action and it is completely different. The post information is completely wrong. It shows my solar power feeding my utility power all night long. No battery usage or home usage at night. Once that information is fixed, it will be a five star app.

Have not had any issues with bluetooth connectivity. or major issues getting into the car. Sometimes the car doesnt detect my phone but it has always been based on the fact that i just turned on the phone and not everything has turned on yet or the car is in deep sleep(overnight). I usually just open the app and it wakes up the car. It is also really easy to just click the unlock and it unlocks right away. FYI: I use a pixel 2.

Works great... when it works, which is about 95% of the time and lots of awesome features that no one else even comes close to offering as standard features. I thought it was just the old 3g, but even my 2018 S can sometimes be a little slow to connect. An issue for me though is the lack of wifi direct capability. When out camping with no service or in a parking garage with little or no service I would like to be able to use my cell and go keyless, but too worried about it failing to connect.

Awesome app for awesome car, still needs some key features. Bluetooth proximity key works great on my Moto Z2. I love getting into a warm car, especially when the juice to warm it up came from my house and not the battery. Definitely need manual defrost controls added. Prescheduling warm up would also be nice. Window controls would be a plus. Phone voice integrarion such as with google assistant would be a plus (improved voice control in the car would be nice, but that's unrelated to this app).

sometimes will not connect at all. Your best people are not working on this app. It needs to work at connecting if it can't find the car. It doesn't seem to retry or anything bt the circular arrow when it can't connect. why is Android app only one not working? app is supposed to use Bluetooth to act as a key. Will not work until Bluetooth is toggled on. even though phone is connected via Bluetooth and on control panel says phone is connected to the car. but at the same time phone key is disconnec

So much cool stuff. So useful. Still can be buggy with features like summon and open on approach. needs continued refinement and bug fixes but love the app and its ever evolving functionality and features. update 3/29/2019 features continue to improve and bugs seem to be largely worked out. love the sentry mode and summon works great now too. keep uo the good work!!! well keep giving people test drives and spreading the word about Tesla!

Very much appreciate the features and functionality of the app, which can be controlled remotely.... EXCELLENT!! I'd like to give it a 4.5 rating.... half a point reduction because it automatically unlocks the car upon approach 90% of the time... not all the time.

So far seems like this update decreases connection time. This is the most important thing. So many times I can't preheat or show off the app as it won't connect in a reasonable time. This app is a gadget unless it can reliably connect. Hopefully this update makes it reliable.

So awesomely unreliable!! When they make your phone your key, they should churn out a spotless app. I have issues connecting to my car daily, even though it says it's connected. If I were ever in a hurry for whatever reason, I could absolutely not count on this app to get me into my car. This is especially frustrating as I'm a single mom with a small child and fiddling around with my phone to try to get my door to open leaves me feeling entirely vulnerable. FIX IT! Or at least offer a fob.

kind of slow to connect initially. if i want to start cooling my car as I'm walking out of a store, I rarely am able to get the AC started before I'm already opening my door. Obviously the app is still amazing as no other cars have this, but I wish they would speed it up. I get that the car has to wake up but at least let me queue up a command and put the phone back in my pocket while the servers connect to the car.

I'm surprised none of the reviews mention the bug that was introduced into this app quite a while back and still hasn't been fixed, namely, the mis-labeling of the car's location when the car is moving. For instance, as it travels down a main thoroughfare or highway, the location will keep changing to say that the car is on a side street that it's actually crossing or parallel to. This never used to happen - for several years - so it's obviously a bug that was introduced with one of the updates.

The app functions well, and has a list of good controls in it. Enhancements I'd like to seen made: Better control over Climate. I'd like manual control of seat warmers, front and rear defrosters, and so on. Option to disengage windows rolling down when opening the car. Improvements can be made on the sensor distance for the summon feature. Right now if I don't stand right next to the car, it doesn't work. The phone used to stay connected to the car, even when it was sleeping or in pocket mode. Now I have to take my phone out and turn the screen on in order to unlock the car. Id rather have the original method for this back, or an option to choose between the two. Again, these aren't complaints, just enhancements that i think would be wonderful. Cheers!

The app randomly and constantly disconnects me from my car. Then it takes forever to reconnect while I'm trying to get into my car. Then more often than not it disconnects me again after letting me in so I can't put the car into gear. Seriously this app sucks!!! My husband has no problems with his iPhone. It's just the Android app. Love the car, but this needs to be fixed.

The Tesla app is an awesome feature that comes with every Tesla vehicle. Some of the practical features are being able to initiate climate control and see exactly where your car is, as long as you have an internet connection. You can also move your car forwards/backwards without needing to get in it, which can be useful in tight parking spots and whatnot. More features are on the way in the near future following the Tesla V9 software updates.

Sometimes the app doesn't connect to the car right away which prompts me to have to reach in for my key card. It'll connect to audio but not unlock sometimes. This can be frustrating especially in the rain. Otherwise, great app. Would love to do more from it. It also wouldn't allow me to turn off my valet mode and I had to restart my phone for it to finally recognize and connect with my car.

I love being able to interact with my car through this app (e.g. locate the car, check range, and remotely cool it off on a hot day). This may be a standard feature for similarly priced vehicles nowadays but is very new to me, and I'm still impressed with the experience a few months after delivery. Further impressed with the app's recent quality of life improvements like adding the ability to initiate a vehicle software update (surprised that took so long actually). Keep up the good work.

Would be nice if the summons feature actually worked and didn't fail all the time. Also let me find superchargers on the map view. I love in an area where the chargers are full majority of the time and would be great to know or be alerted when stations have "x" amount of bays available at specific times of the day. Let me also get rid of the static Tesla app notification, always worried I'll press the wrong button when phone is on my pocket, leaving the trunk or frunk open.
