Tye ads have become very intrusive. They appear after 10 seconds at the top of your in box so as you go to open an email you end up opening the ad just as it appears. I will now trial alternative apps. Also, the App crashes every time I open it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but still doing it. Something has changed, very frustrating!
As an email client it's OK, but it's kinda jank in omeveru basic areas. Pinned messages don't get pinned to the top like on desktop, and as far as I'm aware there's no catagory system like on desktop either. It also does some very shadey stuff like putting a "search with Bing" option in your long press menu, without permission, and without a way to disable it. Y'know like a virus would....
Strangely if opening a link from an email that directs you to a browser it uses Outlook's embedded browser that has recently been displaying news headlines in the address bar. I don't know if this is a feature or a bug, knowing Microsoft, probably both. It isn't useful as it doesn't display the entire headline nor let you go to the news article. Also it isn't something that they have listed in the What's New section. I don't like it either way.
In the Android Outlook app, when you click on a web link from the Outlook email app, there is a scrolling suggested article ticker in the search bar. This is incredibly annoying and distracting. I don't want to see this and don't find a way to turn it off. I don't know if I'm explaining it well, but developers should know what I'm talking about.
Outlook is so awesome. The Calendar is my daily reminder and scheduler. I would miss my appointments if not for Outlook Calendar. *Note: wish the reminder bell on Calendar was truly louder! And wish we could fit more letters in the Calendar date-box! Otherwise The Calendar is great! Also the use of all the Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc etc is Phenomenal! Outlook has more than just email, it's a versatile tool for everyday use! Amen.
It's great being on Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Onedrive from my phone as I'm in IT and provide a faster service this way. The Outlook mail client works well but the calendar is clunky not not doesn't appear to switch easily to different view like 30day view. I suspect they will improve the calendar feature in the future. In the meantime it's great being connected via email, text, teams chat and calls all from my android phone.
Since the last update every single thing that is junk is going straight into my focused inbox without exception. Nothing is going into junk mail regardless of how I set up the settings on the server through a browser or through the program on my computer. Every single piece of obvious junk mail goes straight into the focused inbox. This app is now almost entirely unusable. Fix please
Excellent email and calendar app. Integrates so smoothly with work account. Calendar scheduling is flawless and easy to include a teams meeting. The only thing this app can't do well is turn an email with a lot of people into a calendar invite. Copy and paste isn't the easiest, so you have to manually look people up. A very small nit-pick I've notice after using the app for a while.
I have used it for several years now and at the start there were a few issues, but it was better than the native email app. However this has drastically changed. I can barely use it to look at emails, search emails, look at my calendar ... the list goes on. I have to regularly wipe the cache otherwise I have to close the app over and over and over to get it to do anything. Most of the time I still can not do anything other than scroll through the inbox. Can't recommend this app anymore.
The email works great with Microsoft 365. I'm not a fan of the search. I can't limit the search to one folder - it searches the entire mailbox. I use the native contacts app on my Note 8 since Outlook doesn't really have a good way to manage contacts. And the calendar is a little cumbersome - particularly when trying to make an appointment 6 to 12 months in the future. I haven't found a fast way to jump to a certain date - I have to scroll. Overall outlook feels almost like a beta version.
I love Outlook on desktop PC, but for 3+ years many users have been reporting issues that the Android version of Outlook doesn't give notifications on time for events scheduled in your calendar. It's supposed to give you advance notice, but instead it let's you know at a random time after the calendar event is over. This is a core, basic feature and it's lame that Outlook has the same issue 3+ years later.
Push notifications won't work. Tried reinstalling, tried changing Android settings, tried the push notification test (which is successful every time), but email notifications won't show up. It works perfectly exactly once after reinstalling and logging in, but without any settings changes at all, the next and all future emails are silent - nothing in the notification bar, no sound. BlueMail notifies everytime, no problem, but I don't like using it. Please fix this issue!
Uninstalling. I just realized it's using over 7 GB of storage, which is insane, and there's still no way to go from email to email, which is incredible. Normally I would swipe left or right to go to the previous/next email (e.g. in the Gmail app). Nothing happens when I do that in this app. To see the next email you have to back out of the current email, to the Inbox, and then tap on the next email. Every time. It's been years. And there's no setting to limit the app's storage consumption.
Update bug: When you open and read a gmail unread email from the desktop browser, the mobile app fails to mark it as read at the top in notification panel and disappear it, but instead the email stays as unread for a very long time. The internet connection is there, battery optimization is even off for Outlook. And, if you open the app, it shows that it is indeed read. So, there is a bug updating the status of read mails, and bug in syncing.
I don't normally leave reviews but this is getting to be too much. I don't like that the app doesn't allow me to delete folders. I have deleted folders from my desktop and they've even been deleted from my deleteds but will not go away on my phone app and are getting to be entirely too much! I have reached out to all support teams and no one can figure out the issue. I have deleted the app and re configured my email. Some sync with my desktop and go away but some don't. I don't understand it.
I use the app to check my email regularly throughout day. Convenient and very easy to use. Couldn't live without it. After I left this review I have had lots of problems with the app. It seems that every time the app has a change it stops working for me. I keep having to uninstall and then reinstall. So frustrating I am looking for something else to use for email. 06/02/22 An update for this review. Seems to be consistently better. No issues recently.
New unwanted feature: "read more" at the bottom of emails to read the rest of it. I clicked on the email to read it so of course I want to read all of it. I couldn't find a way to disable this either. At least it gives more of the email than the iPhone version of the app seems to I guess. I also have an issue with the calender for Teams meetings. I'll set the reminder to 30 or 60 minutes as needed, check it saved properly, still not get a reminder until 15 minutes before.
Stopped downloading whole messages. Just has a link that says "read more". When you click on it a box opens that is too small to read messages and cannot becreaized. I've used the app for years and it was fine though not the best. But now it's unusable especially for reading email newsletters
So is marking a sender as, "Not Spam" ever going to work? Because All it does is move it from the junk mail folder to the inbox come one time and one time only. I've been talking about this for years Microsoft can you PLEASE fix this app. Needs an option to get rid of the junk mail folder I'd rather have everything in my inbox and then I'll decide if it's junk mail
Generally useful, but some features (like deleting blocs of emails when only one really needs to go, or making backups difficult to make and harder to access) are annoying and counterproductive. Sometimes too much "convenience" is a bad thing. Online support is complicated and mostly useless. Get help with YouTube. Amateurs helping amateurs, but helping. Plus, the human support is typical Microsoft. Ugh.
Well, upon updating recently it isn't working that well... my settings keep changing now! And I'm getting tons of junk mail in my regular folders!!!! And I get notified of every single one... not happy!!!! Well upon downloading the 2nd of two resent updates its even worse than before!!!! Getting tons of junk mail in both business and personal folders, and getting notifications for every single one.... wish I'd never updated it!!! Was working fine for years, now its the pits...
I've been using outlook for almost 8 years, I'd totally agree that it is better than Gmail. During all these years I have not even once experienced any difficultly of any sort. Outlook is literally the best email app you may find, is it reliable effective and efficient. I mean outlook is even used for business purposes so what else could you ask for.❣
For emergency use only. Otherwise I use the browser. Folders don't collapse and it's a giant mess. "Function/Other" inbox is confusing. Cant delete from swiping, it archives. Why? I dont want to open a suspect email just to delete it. I wish it looked and functioned like the browser version. It's like a sad broken version of the real thing.
The newest updates (the latest 3) have bugs. Switching between different folders don't execute unless I close the app and restart it. Also deleting emails OR as you name them conversations is a tedious act as they appear to delete but the deleted emails reappear when reopening the app Please correct this, thank you. Update, what's the use of marking a particular email address as junk/phishing when the future emails from the same address are not automatically sent to junk folder?
Takes up too much storage space on my phone. Considerably larger than all other apps. Cannot locate a means to decrease it at all. Going to have to remove the app entirely since it's suddenly higher than usual, and my phone keeps popping up error messages. The Contact Developer email is a noreply address. How do prove you don't give a damn about your app users for 100, Alex.
Continously stops working. I try to reset my email accounts and it doesn't work. I am constantly having to uninstall and re-download the app and enter all my synced accounts at least once month. Totally frustrating. I've been using this app for years and this is a recent issue within the last 6 or 7 months.
This app, quite frankly, is extremely disappointing. Time to step up your game and fix your issues. Why, if you can explain this to me like I'm a six-year-old, do I constantly get requests to reinput my password, even after I just got an email two minutes ago? This happens frequently. The best solution is always to uninstall, reinstall, then it works, until it doesn't. Time for you to fix it.
I don't normally go out of my way to leave reviews for apps, but I'm hoping this gets the attention of the developers because there's an extremely annoying flaw/glitch/bug that I've been experiencing for ages now. I'll go to delete a whole bunch of emails and close the app afterwards, just to come back to the app later and find all those deleted emails back in my inbox again. There's no way I'm the only one experiencing this and I wish they would fix it already. It can't be that hard.
Doesn't offer my Category colors when creating events in the Calendar like the desktop version. There isn't an option to change the color of each event (one color for all). But I can see my custom Category colors in the app when assigned on the desktop? PLEASE FIX! **For those that don't like the forced screen lock, like myself, certain phones may offer a Trusted Devices Smart Lock option (Samsung here) where the device stays unlocked when on your person or connected to a trusted device.
Simple, syncs with my desktop Outlook. Why use any other? If I were to suggest an improvement: Allow us to open and close created folders for quicker navigation of my folders. Other than that, has improved greatly, over time, since the 1st generation Outlook for Android app. Cheers!
I have used outlook for a while and totally enjoyed the experience but recently, the app has given me lots of issues. It freezes when I try to open a mail and many times the mails take up to a minute to open. Let's not mention that I have had to update my app 4 times in the past one month. It seems there is a new update weekly. I have cleared my cache and the issue persists. Get this fixed for a better user experience please.
User for over 25 years. For several weeks Outlook will not allow me to edit date & time of appts. I open to edit, change date or time but it will not save. I do not get an error message, it just won't save. So I am left to create a 'new' appt with same info - just a diff day or time. Is this another 'change' or just a frustrating glitch? *Happens with this app only - not my laptop Office 365. (Of course I can just drag an appt there!)
On a Galaxy Tab s7 the app is just OK. Not very configurable. As an example; it would be nice to open an email in a separate window. Currently, you only can see it in a preview which makes readability very poor. It also pretty much makes setting a filter to "UNREAD" useless especially if you need to multi task. If you have the filter set to unread and tab to another app, outlook will immediately close the email and moves to the next email. Openning the email in a separate tab would fix but NA
Can't get my mail. Trying to activate a device and those emails for some reason always go to the spam folder. But in this app there is no option to look in the spam folder. On top of that I have to go to 2 different folders to get my inbox. Focused??? Other?? Why??? I'm so tired of apps that decide what I need and don't need. I will have to delete this app and change all my emails so I can get them all in one inbox and check the spam folder.
Terrible app, can't believe this has been built by Microsoft. Wouldn't use it but forced to by my employer. No undo and redo, can't change font size when writing emails, can't change text formats, no notifications for sub-folders, no option to view flagged emails in all sub-folders and no option to search in sub-folders. Really basic functions. I could go on. Provided feedback to Microsoft but no response.
Still got lots of missing emails in app even when using search bar and yes I filtered to all emails and trash been years now of issues I have not been helped?! Outlook only works right from windows computer desktop no where else. App and web browser dont work! Lumping emails together when you click on a new email it will have a bunch of other email threads in it not even associated. Also, all folders are sorted in the incorrect order and you cant collapse any they need to match desktop sortings.
I installed this because Gmail stopped sending notifications to my Android about a month ago. Gmail is unmitigated garbage with no help from developers and thousands of FAKE reviews. Outlook integrated my Gmail address to start sending notifications, but I like Outlook so much better that I'm going to stay using it as my primary email address. UPDATE: No way to add addresses to Safe Senders....renders it almost useless. Also, can't select more than 1 email at a time. Trash.
Calendar widget button continually swaps to the email widget button upon updates and restarts.. also randomly. Please fix! And what is with the multiple drafts? Why am I having to delete blank drafts after replying to emails!? Finally, can you please clear notifications when they are opened in the app? Very confusing! Thank you!
Nonexistent support, and abysmal spam filtering. I have to check my junk mail every few hours to retrieve the routine emails that I expect to read. I have to carefully avoid the phishing emails in my inbox which were not filtered. I have attempted to contact support for this and other issues, but they do not respond (they used to).
I work for a company that makes us renew our passwords every 2 months. When we do I get no notification on this app, It just stops working, without me knowing it's not working. I've missed many important emails bc of this. Then it's very difficult figuring out how to sign out and update my credentials. IT has to help us all the time with this. Please outlook do better.
Edit: reduced to one star: Find a different email client. Outlook for android sucks. Way too many errors loading messages from notifications. Some messages do not appear in android app yet show up on desktop and/or iOS versions. No lock/password option for security and privacy. No obvious way to print emails from the app. Spam/phishing filter allows too many fake junk messages.
App installs malware in the form of a browser hijack that changes the search option in the pop-up menu from Google to Bing. Uninstalling Outlook fixes the problem immediately. This is a well documented issue that's been going on for years now. Shame on Microsoft for such shady tactics.
After the last update, I can now have emails open automatically, which I really prefer. I have 5 email accounts, so I don't see the calendar link nor the settings gear however, when my tablet is held horizontally (which is how I prefer to read emails), I'd rather not have all my email accts visible and see the other links. Scolling within my emails keeps getting stuck, it's really annoying not being able to get to the end of an email.
Works decent for the most part, the only real problem ive noticed with outlook is if i erase emails and exit the program too quick the emails stay in my inbox and show up again the next time i launch the app which is annoying at times. My work around has been dont exit the app, just minimize it. At any rate i rather use samsung email but dont have that option on non samsung phones.
Tried it again after not using it for a year. After reinstalling it and using it for a couple of weeks it seems much better. No issues so far. (My original review of 1 star follows the asterisk). *Used for several months and worked quite well. However, the last few weeks it started acting 'buggy'. The final straw was the large amount of resources it was using. Pinpointed it as the source of an unusual uptick in battery drain. Tried several fixes, and finally deleted. The battery drain stopped.
i absolutely love outlook for Android, the Gmail app was getting boring and outdated. there is one thing that i dont understand yet. tue focused moded. im not sure if some email messages didn't load or thats all ive received for the day. but it is a bit confusing to figure out if i did or didn't receive more mail than whats showing. maybe there should be a pop-up message loading results after pulled down to refresh.
Absolutely awesome, easy to learn and use. The features, formating and compatibility of Microsoft Office products is impressive. Updates and improvements are constantly being added. I have used Microsoft Word, Excell, PowerPoint and other programs for over 30 years on different laptops, desktops and now on my phones both at work and at home.
App works fine but all the folders, subfolders, and sub-sub, etc folders are automatically expanded in Outlook app and cannot collapse them. Unless missed something in settings?Makes it impossible to use when have to scroll through hundreds of expanded folders to find or file a particular email. If folders could be collapsed, could drill down through correct folder(s) within seconds to find what I need. Had to go back to the default Samsung email app since that did allow folders to collapse.
The app is wonderfully convenient for keeping track of work emails and calendar on the go, so why the 1 star? It's a storage vampire. 4+ GB of space on my android phone and tablet. I've cleared my deleted folder, archived old emails, uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted my phone; nothing helps. Tech support is unhelpful (see various threads online). Outlook is cloud-based. Why is it taking up SO MUCH SPACE?!?
Not sure how this application could possibly have 4+ stars. Yes I was happy once they finally realized forcing people to provide access to their contact wasn't a good move but while traveling internationally I wanted to limit my data usage so I enabled "Restrict background data" but Outlook continued downloading all the e-mails while I was on expensive roaming. Only fix was to uninstall the application which of course causes all kinds of issues with accessing the information, just bad app dev
There are two major flaws with this application you cannot print an email, and and the month-long calendar is difficult to look at as events are only small dots that are hard to see. If Microsoft would fix this this would be a five-star application. Edit note: after years of no printing being an issues, Microsoft still has yet to fix this issue.
I am having lots of problems with app closing constantly sometimes the app closes as soon as I open it, while I'm reading or replying to an email, after I send an email, doesn't seem to matter what I am doing it just closes so frustrating Any suggestions? Probably will stop using outlook if I can't figure out what to do to resolve this problem.
It works but it's a bit buggy. I have to re-enter my credentials randomly. My organisation makes us update our passwords every 3 months but for some reason the app will lose the cached information about every other week. Scrolling through long email chains is also buggy. I just forward the emails to my Google account to read it easily. Edit: Looks like they've corrected the issue where I had to re-enter my credentials.
The app accurately checks my inbox and shows me the messages. Do Not Disturb sometimes turns itself off and on, ignoring my settings. Also, it shows me different information than the web (browser) version--it will flag a sender as unverified when the web version gives me no such information.
It has a lot of features. It's not fully compatible with the Google Fi VPN (sync issues occur frequently). Performance is laggy (especially on older flagships and lower end devices) - I've never seen this app buttery smooth. Not even on my Pixel 6 Pro or Surface Duo 2. It's prone to bugs that don't always get fixed on a timely manner. HTML emails don't always load with the correct spacing and sizing so you have to zoom, scroll sideways, and/or look at gaps between images.
I know this a outlook app prob as it only happens in the outlook app, several other people that are experiencing this same problem. When typing/composing using the keyboard (Gboard), it consistently doesn't space words & I have to constantly go back & put spaces between the world. Examples: when I want it to be 'what is' it'll show as whatis' or 'I may' will show as 'Imay'. It happens all the time & ONLY in the Outlook app plus my settings in Gboard are already set to auto space after each word.
I've used Outlook on multiple devices for almost ten years and prefer this to any other emal provider. I have never had any issues with their services or features. My only request would be to have the ability to manage categories and add/change categories to new events in the mobile version. A calendar widget that shows the month and categories would be fantastic. Thank you!
Outlook will not sync with my GMail account. This used to work. I installed it on a new phone and it says it is connected and shows no email in my inbox or any of my labels. That is strange since I am looking an my inbox right now and it certainly is not empty. I was hoping this would replace the official GMail app since that is not sending timely notifications for new emails. Oh well the search continues for a working email client.
Constant updates has almost rendered this app useless. Used to be stable. Good luck. Updated, this app is getting worse. Constantly crashes when deleting emails (simple swipe), it will delete all your emails from your inbox when deleting from the deleted folder which is a big issue. The more updates that are pushed the worse it gets. Find another app.
For years I have said "Outlook stinks, but there is nothing better than Outlook" when referring to their desktop client. While this still might be true, I actually downloaded their Android/Linux web app to use with my personal email, in addition to it being necessary for my work email. The way they have integrated Cortona with Bluetooth streaming makes it, in my experience, the only safe, helpful way to read email while driving. When I get where I'm going I'm far closer to the mythical INBOX=0 things that can be replied to quickly are done, and those that need more investigation or more detailed responses are easily marked for quick reference. When you commute as much as I do and email is the center of your communication, there's nothing that compares. Now, just #OpenTheSourceCode
It's nothing new. For the last few years I have to constantly reset the app. Or it just freezes after a few email searches. This app sucks. Outlook sucks. Completely regret having a few emails thru godaddy and having to use this. I have several emails with Gmail and never an issue. Will never use outlook with new emails going forward
Loses Mail!!! When this app is open on my phone, messages just disappear even when I'm not using it. Also, more than 20 times in the last day, I've opened an email that is in the list, it opens for about half a second, and then it is gone. I'm back at the inbox. I check ALL the folders including Spam, Deleted, Inbox, and Archive. The messages are gone forever. I've been checking this and seeing this repeatedly for a month. This app is dangerous if your emails are important.
If there is one thing this should do well, it is give you a reliable calendar for today and tomorrow. This app is sadly unreliable. Most of the time it does great, but sometimes it will have no calendar content for long periods of time, it even worse, show you that you have an afternoon meeting but skip the morning ones. Needs to prioritize what content to sync better.
Please help, my work email is through outlook and I have it on my phone. Now all my texts to people I work with come over as weird email addresses instead of their contact name. They also recieve my texts as some weird email address and not my name. This only happens with people that are associated with outlook through work. When I deleted the app, it still happens!
The app seems to be having connectivity issues at the moment. This was not really meant to be a review but I couldn't find another place to report it. But just now when I was trying to send an email the app wouldn't let me send the completed email. It nevered ungrayed the little send arrow. I went online and was able to send it easily. After sending it online I came back to the app and it wouldn't even load the incoming email. This is the first time in ages that I've had any trouble with the app
There doesn't appear to be a way of clearing downloaded or cached emails and attachments from within the app. In 9 months of use, Outlook has balooned to take up over 2.5gb of storage on my phone and the only way to free up space is to clear the app data wich also happens to log you out and reset all of your settings. I have left developer feedback about this issue.
I d recently switched from Gmail app to Outlook on my Android. I've used it once before but didn't really got it much change as I was used to Gmail UI. I have now been using Outlook for few months and I really like it. The one irritating issue and it's a big one is that sometimes my non Microsoft email accounts (Gmail, yahoo) gets signed out or some other syncing issue. I rarely had this issue if at all on Gmail app. I will continue to give it a try but I hope this syncing becomes efficient.
Outlook is a tried and tested mobile app that has continued to improve over the years. I have not given 5 stars only because there are still significant limitations on the mobile app functionalities compared to the desktop and browser versions, to mention 3 specific ones: encryption, flagging important messages and the ability to get read receipts.
Often times I need to look at both my calendar and my email at the same time and I can't do that so I have to go back and forth when I'm trying to schedule something. Not convenient. It's very easy to accidentally archive an email and I find myself losing emails only to find them in the archive folder. Wish there was a way to stop that from happening. Otherwise it's a pretty good app.
Subscribed to Microsoft Outlook due to Yahoo email not working properly. Immediately, fell in love with this app. It is easy to use, responds quickly and very dependable. Very satisfied. Try it if you are experiencing problems with your current email app.
Outlook is all I have ever used for email so I don't know how it compares to other programs. I just know it works well for me - easy to set up personal choices; unlimited folders for items you want to save; automatically separates junk; organizes everything on a daily basis, etc.
Lately It wont allow me to select multiple emails to move all at once anymore? Making sorting what's what A lengthy process of doing it one at a time after opening each one first! Before I could move 100+ no problem. Who has time to go through one at A time? Being able to select the ones I want for later and moving them to A folder was very convenient. If it's not broken don't fix it! Updates ruin things we users love by adding things we either hate or dont use! & please bring back Blocking too?
This has been a great tool for me to use during my Highschool and College careers, I have found it to be the best way to contact teachers, classmates, and other staff that can answer my questions or revivieve documents needed for each class. This is also a great app to use to set up appointments with others as it will automatically add a date and time to your calendar if you accept a meeting invitation. This is a wonderful app to use to connect for business or school!
For many months, email notifications have been delayed often occuring between 10-15 minutes after the email was received. The app has been exempted from data usage or battery restrictions, so that is not the issue. Cleared cache/ data, as well as re-installing the app has been tried with no success. Emails are received nearly instantly on my laptop using Outlook. Feels like a Outlook app issue...
Been having issues for a couple of days, possibly since last update? I hadn't changed any settings from when it was working, just the updates. -Inbox not syncing for new emails, I have to manually refresh for new emails to show up. -either separately or as a result of the above - I am not receiving notifications for new emails in Outlook which is a HUGE ISSUE for my workflow!
Flaky. When it works, it's great. Integration with calendar categories is awkward. The biggest issue is scheduled "do not disturb" times have been broken for several weeks. The only [partial] fix is to manually tap the clock (making having the function "scheduled" pointless). Even then, I find it will randomly turn itself back on.
Excellent! Love the separation of private conversations vs junk mail as I recieve dozens of emails every day. Lets me keep up with my desktop via sync and compatibile files. Definitely a first-class business app. Updates have diluted some of this separation, but it still serves its purpose. I do a lot of research on my phone and the ability to have outlook email automatically come up in newsfeeds is a real time saver. Also, this app makes it less overwhelming to edit emails than my computer.
Review should be ZERO STARS! For about the last month I don't receive emails consistently or timely. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The problem is definitely with the app as my desktop works perfectly. Please fix! This is a work/exchange email so I have no options!!
Pretty good except 3 very annoying issues. 1. Biggest issue is if there're multiple people on the thread you'll only see the last person's name on the email... 2. On the quick menus on top it only gives the option to archive. Can't change it to keep as new. 3. To many emails with the "you don't get too many emails..." it blocks the user from seeing that one line from the actual message ie preview from that message. Big downers I hope they fix it! Or give us the option to disable it.
I love outlook, and I use it on my tablet, my laptop and my phone. It's the most consistently reliable and user friendly email app I've had, and a big plus for me is the ability to keep folders within each email address for organizing! My mail and folders are accessible across all devices which is very handy and helpful! So handy and user friendly! I love it!!
Every update this app does messes with my email for days. I hate it but was given an outlook account for work and have to use it. It would be nice if they worked out the bugs before putting the updates out. Now I haven't been able to look at all of my calendar events for 28 hours and have no idea what I missed already 🙃
Update. Uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled. Now working fine. 4/25/22 - my Hotmail contacts are not syncing so there are no contacts in my Contacts app now. Hotmail email is showing up in the Outlook client, but not the contacts, even though I have already toggled on the Sync Contacts in Settings. Very frustrating.
App sucks on so many levels. Doesn't even include text from email I am replying to in my replies. Frequently gives message stating, "This message has no content" when the email that I am reading clearly does. Very buggy. I don't have enough time to go into all the issues. I find it pretty disappointing and useless other than being able to see that I do have messages.
Makes managing my multiple email accounts easier but sometimes emails don't show up and I have to fully close the app to load them. Also I would get notifications for an email and when I click on it the email wouldn't be in my inbox but in the trash. Update 4/24: Lowered my rating. None of my inboxes have updated in 4 days even though I get a notification of incoming mail, when I go to open Outlook no email. I've reset my accounts, un-installed and re-installed, and nothing.
I use this app mainly for emails pertaining to clients and art websites. It does the trick very well! It's responsive, quick and easy to use, I almost like it better than gmail, especially because I don't get as much if any junk mail or spam, even then its just junk mail for advertisements to websites that I use constantly and are actually helpful instead of weird virus ridden spam and such. At times it can be very buggy and wont always load emails properly, specifically images, but still great!
Runs smoothly but one bug I have noticed is when you're adding something to an email message using talk to text. It only accepts the first word so any amendments to the first draft of a message have to be manually typed or spoken only one word at a time vs. complete sentences. That is annoying because I use talk to text often.
$hitty app. Works when it wants to. Sometimes asks me to login repeatedly, even right after logging in. Once I see that, I know the app is messed up. When I open my inbox, current emails don't appear. For the ones that do appear, the emails display in what looks like Chinese characters. Support was very slow on getting it fixed last time. They don't respond quickly to messages, and obviously can't get something fixed for the long term, because this is happening again as of yesterday.
It offers no functionality beyond a web portal email service, which begs the question why an app is even available? It also seems to "curate" what emails you actually see without just showing you all the emails in your inbox. It boggles the mind why the app does this. Anyways, uninstalled and will just use web based email for full functionality.
Excellent app. Great sync-up with web version of email. Easy interface. Great features. Easy to use. Really like the swipe feature in the app. Only wish that it had a "send later" option where you can set it up to send out the email at a specific time for the mobile app. It would be great if the developers could make that happen.
I set a Do Not Disturb schedule for the evening hours and occasionally use the "Until I turn it off" option throughout the day. It turns itself on all throughout the day when I want to receive notifications so I end up having to open the app the check if there are new emails, and when I turn it off and close the app it'll turn itself back on.
2022 Update: Still happening, it's now April. 🤔 When there are multiple emails in the notification and I click it, the notifications goes away and the app doesn't open. If I expand the notifications and click on 1 of the emails the app opens the email. Again, the email app that comes from Sony on all my devices opens regardless if there are multiple emails in the notifications or just 1. 🤔🤔🤔
Missing key features! NO ability to change email priority to high importance! Every other 3rd party email app out there including Google Mail, Samsung, and others allow you to set a priority on messages. This is important especially for business users.. Also, categories can be SEEN in items but there's no option to add/change categories. There are other missing options that should be there but these two should be there already!!
My Outlook went blank. When I go to open Outlook there is nothing but a white screen with a blue header. Also, as far as I can tell, I can no longer choose to delete emails by the "select all" by the week or month anymore. Instead, if "select all" is checked and the delete button is hit, all emails would be deleted. Hopefully uninstalling and re-installing will fix the issue.
This app malfunctions all the time with increasing frequency, notifies me that I have a new email but won't load it in the inbox. Resetting the account and/or reinstalling the app does nothing. Now it is showing a completely empty inbox, all old and new emails gone, and trying to re-add my account even after a fresh install yields an error. I wouldn't use it if my institution didn't. I expect more out of Outlook considering how many institutions use Microsoft.
When composing email, my cursor will jump to the middle of my word several times a paragraph so that it pushes letters out and creates nonsense. Emails moved to folders won't actually move--they sit in my inbox. There's no way to make my outlook profile pictures appear in the app so I can differentiate between multiple accounts without trial and error (since they're all labeled with my first initial which doesn't change. Overall, if I wasn't forced to use it for school and work, I wouldn't.
Why can't we manually add an individual contact without allowing the ability to sync our contacts? What the hell? I should be able to click add (which isn't even the most intuitive thing to get to on my Samsung) then just manually enter a contacts information. But my only 2 options are to allow access to my contacts or later (which gets me nowhere). This is a pain! PLEASE fix
Great application, easy to configure and had no issue so far. EDIT: I have to take my 5 stars back. I have several issues for the last 2-3 months. I get my notifications and summaries of the email, but when I try to open it does not open. After that I open Outlook but it does not show anything. To solve the problem, Sometimes I need to start phone, sometimes I need to uninstall everything including accounts on Android accounts and reinstall the app. It's like an MVP for a while, not solid SW.
I am once again unable to properly edit an email draft using this app. If you try to modify what was typed it starts bugging out. Letters will start changing, spaces will disappear, or it will make the cursor jump around. It's far easier to type the email in another app and then copy/paste than it is to use just this app. Makes for a terrible experience.
I need it to translate from Chinese to English and correct whatever is wrong with the document layouts. For example, I have a Chinese instruction project that was originally in English but somehow hasn't been translated into Chinese with the layout of the document intact. Fonts are off, placement of words are misaligned and when I try to import it to this app, pictures are missing. Please fix this if possible or make suggestions for this type of problem. Thanks. 🙏
It seems that when Outlook 'updates on its own', it deletes all of your Inbox! I had 4 ins in my Inbox. When i opened my 'Outlook' mail, it had deleted ALL of my e-mails! Even deleted ALL of my junk and ALL of my focused e-mails! Uninstalling and reinstalling did not fix it! Trying to contact Outlook support is impossible! They don't exist! Now looking for another mail server. Been with 'Outlook' for many years, they have screwed with my e-mail long enough!
Best cross platform mail app, period. Having nearly identical experience on Windows, iPhone, Android and any browser is terrific. Includes contacts, calendar and more; having all this in one app makes this truly a portable experience making switching devices painless and easy. Multiple accounts, signatures, settings allowing one to customize makes this ideal for work and personal messages. I switched Apple to Android and this was first app I installed getting me up and running in an instant.
I have used Microsoft email services for over 25 years; my earliest memories of Internet/computer use and never had any security issues or 'lost mail'. Easy to attach general media, pdf, etc. Other services have an ad folder automatically included in your inbox and is very annoying imo; Outlook keeps all that noise out. Thanks for all the hassle free years of service.
I've used this app for several years to support an IMAP account, but had to redefine the account settings several times because they seem to just be forgotten. Today, after the last failure, I am unable to enter IMAP settings at all. This app has gone the way of everything Microsoft: into the garbage.
Extremely useful. The only downside is that it is hard to access all of the features in email that a desktop version has. But having said that, this phone version is so useful; it makes work so much more flexible. Plus, weirdly, it receives emails sent to me faster than my laptop does. I strongly recommend.
While Gmail got off to a quick start in this market, I love my experience with Outlook. I like the actual separation of the prioritized vs not "inboxes" though you can merge them, too! The User Interface is good and I like the options for attaching documents and for formatting text either an email. A great option!
Using this app for volunteer work. Believe the ossociated Microsoft Teams is the best for meetings & training. However there are severely problematic synch issues when using Outlook on various platforms: computer & cell phone app, computer & cell via Chrome. This means things deleted on one may not impact storage. This means drafts can get lost. Overall I do recommend Outlook but advise researching workarounds.
Works When It Wants... The app is easy to use when it wants to work. Most of the time when I go to review an email, it either takes forever to open or never opens at all. That is even when I go to the app, it may take forever to even open up to see the dashboard.
Trash app and email service. No matter how many times you tell it "Not Junk", it'll always put new ones right in the junk folder. Don't check your email often? You better, because Micropenis will automatically empty the Junk folder. Brilliant. Try telling the Spyware windows 10 email app that it's "Not Junk", it won't listen. You have to sign into your email in the website and find the almost hidden setting to say "Hey, emails from here IS NOT JUNK !" What do u expect from a Spyware company?
Only random emails show up in my Samsung Watch 4 Classic even though my phone shows a lot more emails, have reset and installed a number of times, disappointing. Many updates later, still the same problem. Update 1/21/22: Appreciate the response from the developers, but the problem has not been fixed. This includes me resetting accounts in outlook, restarting both devices. After many many updates, problem still persists. Approaching 6 months with watch, still has not been fixed.
The "sync calendars" setting that allows the calendar to sync with the phone's Samsung calendar app turns off by itself all the time and I have to go in and keep turning it back on. It lasts a couple days, and then I have to do it again. Almost missed a couple appointments because my Samsung calendar said I had none!
Very user-friendly with features not found on other email applications. It automatically syncs with all my devices telephone, tablet, and computer! I like the formatting options available in outlook. I can set my calendar entries to send reminders to myself and it has a very professional look.
If you schedule a lot of meetings, Gsuite is extremely better. The number one thing that angers me multiple times a day about this app is that I can't have an email and the calendar open at the same time. So if somebody sends me a list of dates and times I can't toggle between the calendar and the email list. Also, there's no way to print an email (or an attachment). I can't even save an email as a PDF. And, you're constantly clicking the back button to get to the next email. 🙄
Worked beautifully for me last semester, however this semester it seems to be out of sync with my Canvas app. It won't allow me to open assignment links through Canvas anymore and instead opens a web page. I cannot figure out if it's Outlook or Canvas causing the issues. Otherwise, I love it. It's very convenient, and it allows me to quick check assignment grades when on break at work
I don't have issues with app. It's very user friendly. There are options on the computer that are not offered in the cell app, it disappoints me but not enought to Rate lower. I love the way it syncs immediately with my computer, I delete, draft, etc. and they immediate shares. I have used Outlook for many, many, years and it's easy to use and options are better than others. When I found out there was a cell app and that I could obtain a Outlook email address I was really mad me happy.
I really love Outlook, because it's easy to manage. I have a Gmail account for backup. However, Gmail is complicated and frustrating It's hard to find your focused important emails, because they don't separate them. I am glad Outlook does separates them. The only thing I wish Outlook would change is to be able to manage my folders (deleting old ones, adding new ones) from my phone. Thank you Outlook. We've been with you from the beginning!
I use the app for my school emails. App was fine at first but eventually it just shows me email notifications but doesn't let me view it in app, and my inbox just stops showing me new emails at that point. Now, it's not even giving me notifications and I keep having to uninstall/reinstall the app and just end up going on the desktop application. Not very convenient!
Not sure if it was intentional but now in dark mode, the signature is nearly invisible which is a problem for me since I often need to copy/cut/paste and adjust the email before sending. Often this ends up messing up the signature or not leaving any space between the email and signature. Also dependent upon the addressee, I need to modify my signature slightly. And so I need to be able to actually see the signature. I rate 3 stars due to this and other usability issues.
Very poor app on my Pixel 2. You cannot create new folders or add subfolders to existing folders, must do it from my Windows PC running the Outlook email app on it. I will hear mail coming in on my PC with it's notification sound, and many minutes will pass by and nothing on my phone unless I open up the app and then the mail pours in. I am going to go back to the Gmail app so I can get my Gmail on it, plus my main account I have been using with Outlook. This app needs a completed overhaul.
Good, but Outlook email can be confusing when there are multiple replies. If there is a separate, private reply from someone, I would like it to be shown as a completrly different email thread. That would make it easier to isolate and respond to each conversation. The current jumble can be frustrating.
This used to be a great app to check your email on your phone. But it has gotten where all it does is crash, does not delete the emails like it should. It has gotten even worse than it used ro be. Emails do not properly load, it may or may not let you open them at all. It does not move emails to a folder when you tell it to do so. It still locks your phone up at times, the app itself still constantly crashes. Will not change from focused to other like it should. Will not let you send an email.
Overall superior to gmail but has it's quirks. Biggest one being that opening an email only has about a 25% chance of marking it as read. This can be quite annoying as you have to select the email then press 'mark as read'. This issue has persisted for several years across many different Android phones so it's not new, I just wish they would do something about it.
Works as you'd expect, until it doesn't. For no clear reason, the app will freeze up and refuse to refresh your inboxes afterward. Using a search seems to trigger it and just opening the search option can lock up the app for a solid minute or just crash. Past that, it runs smoothly.
Especially love using the Microsoft browser and Outlook because I trust them very much. I know they apparently are in control of Microsoft Defender that comes built into some computers. Outlook I know is by Microsoft so I think they will not hardly allow any obviously scamming emails come into you and they tell you not to click directly from an email to a website that may have a virus in it. All the websites that Outlook suspects could be bad are sent to Junk. Can also block them!
For the most part, I'm alright with Outlook. Don't need calendar at all. But you know what is a pain: having my selected view filter changing from "All Accounts" to one specific account just because I opened a notification. I never want to be outside of "All Accounts" view but it keeps happening. And I wind up missing emails because of it. 😒
Not solved years later, March 2022: Many people use Outlook for work and without a lot of the basic capabilities of Outlook for Windows, this app is unusable. You can't even put a company logo inside of your signature. You also can't do something as basic as adding custom tags to events. Until the Outlook app adds some functionality to help people with Office 365 for work, I can't say I would recommend it unless you're only using it for basic personal email. Looks nice though.
I've had my hotmail email addy since 1997. I've had issues with it off and on over the years and got thru them. The thing that bothers me now is a notice that my inbox is 90% full off the 15 gig limit. I've been going into my inbox, junk mail and sent folders to delete what i can. the other option is to pay $70? for an inbox with 50 gigs of space, not in my budget now! i bump into a limit on attachment size that i wish outlook would increase. Added the app on my phone, works very fast.
It has been working great until today. Now it keeps crashing and won't load. I've force stopped, deleted cache and rebooted phone. Now I'm deleting and reinstalling. Whatever you did switch it back. Also, for the first time in 20+ yrs now it's saying I'm close to my storage capacity. I've never seen those emails from Hotmail until this year. I'm changing rating to a 4, because the reinstall seems to have worked, but still being told my mailbox is full after 20+ yrs?
The app has a nice interface, it is easy to understand and navigate. Accessing my mail from multiple devices is simple and seamless. Search makes locating related items easy. The biggest problem is operator error, the Archive folder often contains items that should have been deleted.
All of a sudden today, I apparently don't have sufficient permission to delete emails from my IMAPed mail accounts. It's extremely frustrating and a pain in the a$$ to select all garbage emails and move them to the delete folder as a workaround. 3/13/22, The other problem was fixed, most likely due to update. Now, I'm getting email notifications from an email from 5 days and has already been read and deleted.
Horrible, slow sync. Why does it need to sync what should be local data on device. Should only update meta data whether new or deleted data. Yet it seems to always need to pull all data from cloud, creates poor sluggish performance. App crashes when responding or forwarding emails. Repeated mail notifications from already notified emails. I pay for business level subscription and it's a joke being forced to migrate into the cloud and pay a lifetime of subscription, because that's the new world.
It will work for about a week and then stop properly working for about two weeks. When not working, I get notifications for emails but I cannot open them or view them and my inbox won't refresh. I also can't send emails. This has been a reoccurring them for the past 16 months, since I got the app.
When it works it's great, then it STOPS. It will not sync and when it does it's random. It may be the inbox or other folder or all folders. There is an in app option to help with this but does nothing. Love being able to organize and control to fit me, but there's nothing to organize if it doesn't sync.
Crashes occasionally, but not unreasonable. However, any time I move a previously opened email to a new folder, it ends up back in my inbox. Occasionally, after moving the same email(s) over and over, it will somehow be duplicated in the folder several times, but still be in my inbox as well? But isn't consistent, so I never know when it will happen, and can't delete the emails in the inbox for fear of it not being duplicated and actually gone. Insanely confusing.
Pretty good app, let's you do most things that you can on the desktop versions of mail, calendar, etc, and UI/UX is pretty good, though that would be expected from a large company like Microsoft. One negative is when switching between desktop apps and mobile app because you're on the go or whatever, the mobile app sometimes takes awhile to catch up with what you did on your computer. I would expect that this would be near instantaneous as both devices sync with the o365 servers, but I guess not
I try to send emails and it won't send them, but it sticks them in the drafts folder. I'll open the drafts folder to try to resend and it will crash the app. I have to restart my phone to look at emails. It seems that I can reply to emails I receive but I can't send new ones. Please fix this problem so it can be used. Otherwise recommend an app that will function correctly.
Ignores Android DND settings. Schedules for automatic replies do not work. Calendar widget takes forever to update. Clicking a new email notification does not open that email, it just raises outlook to the foreground. No ability to access tasks (separate app? wth?). I really miss my previous app but thanks to Microsoft and Exchange devs this is what I'm forced to use now. Wish they would bother to improve it.
After the latest update, I get notifications on every junk mail item I receive. Boo! So much spam - never had a problem with Outlook mail. Been using it for years. They make changes and now the amount of junk mail that comes through is ridiculous. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft cant filter this stuff out. I'm wondering if it's a ploy to force people to upgrade and pay for services.
I love the easy system of setting up and storing emails in folders by categories. In this new era of online meetings, setting up times and links in calendar has been helpful and easy to use. Could improve identifying good emails in junk, yet be updated to arrive in the other inbox as a low priority, but not junk. Many improvements in my +20 of Microsoft based email.
The phone app has stopped syncing new mail to see in my inbox despite several work arounds. However, I can search for a new email by the sender's name if I know for sure I should have one. It is difficult to navigate and stacking has made some emails difficult to find information. I don't know what has happened. I have to use it for work, but that will be avoided as much as I can.
There are a lot of legitimate email addresses that cannot be received through outlook. Even when I send a message first and they reply. Completely unacceptable. No way to add them to a trusted list to make them ok to receive. Also, recently started to send multiple notifications of emails being received even after I have read them and deleted them. Additionally, when I mark emails as phishing and junk, they allow them to my inbox still. What is the point of marking them spam?
Hit or miss. At the end of 2021 it started having notification center issues. Like sending hundreds of duplicate or stale notifications. I could go into my email, delete some new e-mails and then close outlook. Then hundreds of notifications pour in for those deleted emails going a week back. Got a new phone and the notification problem still is an issue on a new install. On this new phone, pixel 6 with all updates now outlook just opens to a black screen most of the time. WTH happend?
Update: It just keeps getting worse. It is now constantly sending duplicate notifications, even for emails I have deleted. Inexcusably bad. Doesn't alert for new emails, doesn't mark read emails as read, and won't open some emails at all. This app is mind-numbingly bad. It's literally unusable as an email client. And this is from Microsoft?
I've used Outlook for years and really like it. That's always been my work email platform. Then I got a personal Gmail address and had to start using that email platform. I'd like to go back to Outlook for all of my email. Tried to update Outlook on my mobile device and never got past pending. So I uninstalled it and am now trying to reinstall it. It's been 4 hours and counting, still can't get past pending. Really disappointed.
When app is first set up you can swipe between open emails. Then after a day or so you cannot. If you uninstall and reinstall it'll work again for a day or so. Very frustrating. Also cannot select multiple emails to move to another folder. Microsoft, please fix. We've been complaining about this for years.
Best email app, hands down! I have not seen another app that makes email easy, but also protects your privacy, like Outlook. If you want good email, download this app! You can sign in to all your email accounts, like Gmail, or Yahoo!, and use them separately, or in one view, if you want. The intelligent Focused Inbox is amazing, and saves so much time! So you only need to look at the important ones. Then when you have more time, you can take care of the others. So enjoy this awesome app!
Definitely listened to my last review. Over 3 years ago a bug where the emails would reflect on the desktop site when deleted in the app. Thanks for this update. Not sure when you all got it done but it was very annoying. Thanks again for listening! Makes customers really happy to be heard and encourages us to continue to provide feedback and reviews. Definitely ☆☆☆☆☆.
Could be perfect, but mysteriously isn't, which is typical for Microsoft apps. Extremely easy to set up. Impossible to reconfigure. You have to delete the account and redo. It magically syncs up messages with my mail server. So when I send messages from my phone they are actually in my Sent folder on the server. Selecting multiple messages to, say, bulk delete a ton of them from one sender isn't possible, you have to go into each one hit delete, and then wait till it syncs up with the server.
As others have stated, moving emails from inbox to other folders through long press isn't working. The spell suggestion or whatever it's called is incredibly distracting and time wasting. I keep accidentally hitting it and then having to delete the wrong word or phrase it has suggested. I haven't found a way to disable it. Where are my colored categories? C'mon you guys.
This was a great app and worked fine for years, until Microsoft either started proxying requests or their proxy started not working correctly. In my Exchange logs all of the ActiveSync traffic comes from MS-owned IPs rather than my phone's external IP. Emails are delayed from showing up in my mobile Outlook inbox until minutes-to-hours after being delivered to Exchange and my desktop Outlook instance. I tested this on multiple phones and even another Exchange server, and in all cases the behavior is the same. It's completely unnecessary to proxy this traffic, and just leads to unfathomable delays. I switched my account over to the GMail app (also using Exchange/ActiveSync) and it works fine because that app communicates directly with my Exchange servers.
App is only so-so, 2.5/5 stars. You can't read through emails by clicking through them. When reading an email, you have to back to the email list to then click on the next and so on. Extremely irritating and this keeps me from using the app for anything really important. If I'm reading an email why am I not able to go on to the next from there? Having to constantly go back to the full list wastes time. Please, fix this!!
Overall a good app. The biggest annoyance is the new mail notification. The Outlook app pings that I have new mail. I'm sitting at my computer so I check my email there. After reading, and maybe even deleting, the new email on my computer, the app continues to show the new mail notification. If I don't clear the notification and I get more email, the number of notifications keeps increasing. If the email has been read, and especially if it has been deleted, the notification should self clear.
App recently stopped allowing me to move messages from my inbox to other folders. For a while, it would correct itself of I closed the app and reopened it. That solution stopped about a week ago. Today I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it. It worked for a short time but them went back to the same issue. I have searched online for solutions and nothing. I tried calling and was told they no longer have a phone support line. I have cleared the cache in all of the browsers.
For over a year, still massively disappointing and frustrating to use. Search does not work well and is unreliable. Outlook does not allow advanced account server settings to be edited. Does not allow you to see date/time of email delivery and sender email address in list of emails without having to select. Poor user interface design. Can't save attachments. Can't reply-all to a large group of people in an older threaded conversation. Snooze options are useless; need to match Outlook PC.
Again, I either get all email notifications, or none, even though I have it set to only "fav contacts." - Calendar widget NEEDS a month view.- It junks emails from addresses that I open regularly, or have marked to go into a customized folder. I miss so many emails. I mark them as "not junk" and days later, they are again sent to the junk folder. -
I like the ease of operation in general. The Notification options and DND options are very helpful and convenient. The Swipe (left or right) options within the Inbox make clearing through emails a breeze. I also like the suggestive/predictive text options while composing an email message. It's a very nice app and works well with the desktop version and the online 365 version.
It is pretty easy to use and has a focus email inbox so outside emails do not get mixed up with your institution/business emails. The only thing is it can get a little buggy on a phone and can take a while to update a conversation if you do not close the email discussion and reopen it from your inbox. Otherwise, it is pretty reliable.
ultra-buggy - it won't move conversations or emails to different folders after every update. it also, after every update, won't mark mail as read or unread, randomly crashes, and and more often than not when you hit reply, it send the mail to yourself and not the person you're replying to. it also doesn't matter when you mark emails as spam or phishing, it just keeps letting them through. just use gmail, or whatever your email service is, in a browser. outlook is a complete and total joke.
I have updated this app constantly trying to resolve the issue with emails not loading and not being able to reply. I think it's related to the signature but not sure. It happens on both my s10e and s20. Fix this!! It's been going on way to long. We have to use it for work and it's very frustrating. Use another client if you can until they fix this.
I had already given the app 1-star, but Microsoft doesn't care. Now they force Bing web search on you in context menus. I've switched email providers completely. Done. ___ Prior review: Microsoft holds you hostage so that they can force advertisements on you. I've been using free email services since Gmail was invitation only, and I'm not going to stand for this. Zoho mail, and Google are two great reliable alternatives that remain free with very little advertisements.
I had always liked Outlook, but recent changes have made it less intuitive and more confusing. Why the "Focused" or "Other" slide button?? I just want to see everything in 1 inbox! I can't tell if I'm missing emails! How about just let the user create Our Own filters and Folders to organize our email!! Get rid of the Focused and Other!!
In general, the Android version of Outlook is fabulous and it only falls short in one are...mail groups. I routinely send emails to different groups of people and currently, I have to add all those folks individually, which means I have to remember lists of people in my head, or have it written down somewhere else. This is one of those things computers are REALLY good at (keeping detailed lists of people) and I'm not sure how this got passed over as an option for the app.
Has been logging me out by itself on a daily basis for the past few months or so. I log back in, but the same thing ends up happening a day or even hours later. I use Outlook for my university account, but this has become such an issue that I always end up just checking it on my laptop instead of the app. Very annoying.
My first review was deleted, so here it is again. This app is terrible. It's slow, takes forever to load and hangs when trying to report spam/phishing. And after I changed my Google password, the login link doesn't work. I have to delete the account and try again. The new update completely broke it, so it doesn't even load mail anymore. For anyone interested, I'm now using Aqua Mail Pro, and it seems to work nicely.
I've been using outlook for several years and never had problems until the last update. I have to reset and re-install the app several times to get it working 2-5 times a day. I've even had to use it on mobile browsers because the app starts crashing for long periods of time. I don't know what happened on this last software update, but it's definitely one that needs to be fixed.
After this most recent update, some emails that are read remain unread. I even marked them as read and it still shows up as unread. I've used this app for years and it does OK most times. It's just these little things that are annoying. They usually get fixed relatively quickly.
My ONLY qualm about Outlook is the inability to edit/delete folders on my smartphone (as opposed to an actual desktop computer, which I do not have), whether via my web browser (Chrome) or the app itself, which I think is dumb & counterintuitive. Other than that, I love it. Looks, feels, and functions great as it should.
Still not happy with this app. I unistalled the app then installed it to see if I could not have my Gmail linked with my Hotmail. That was fixed but now in order to put any of my mail into folders I have to delete them then restore to conversation then I can put into the folder. I have restarted my phone checked the settings. There shouldn't be extra steps to put mail in a damn folder. I swear y'all make things more frustrating than it should be. Have no way to get rid of ads. Fix these issues🤬
Good app, let's me read and compose emails easily. Provided, of course, I am able to type on my phone, which is doubtful. But hand me a real 3-dimensional keyboard and I can fill a page no problem. *One thing I'd like to vent about real quick (and feel free to skip this part) is that I miss being able to afford to install Microsoft Office on all my computers. I understand y'all have to make a profit, I just wish it wasn't a total loss for your clients.* Thanks! Great app, glad it's free!
Been using Outlook for years. Seamless switch from my phone to my laptop... no problems. I use chrome for the browser on my laptop so my bookmarks are on both devices. Makes my life easier! I only wish I could block from the app. But they seem to get through anyway... even when I block via the computer.
Whenever I switch between Landscape and Portrait modes, the draft content gets reset and I have to start the mail drafting all over again. Other than this glitch, almost the user experience is at par with other mail services. Update [Feb 08, 2022]: Reported Glitch has been fixed but in recent versions, the mail drafting freezes a lot, mostly when it freezes during use of backspace, end up losing all the content.
02/07/2022 - The app was working well until a day or two ago and now on two separate phones attachments do not open correctly. Trying to open a pdf puts the phone into a crash loop. The file can be downloaded and then opened just fine so the issues appears to be related to Outlook trying to open the file for some reason.
UPDATE: 2/7/22 After the most recent update, the app keeps crashing. If I could give zero stars, I would. UPDATE: Recently I have been getting notifications for all new messages in my Inbox when I set it up to only notify me of "Favorites" new messages. I have not changed my settings, so I assume the most recent update screwed it up. This is very annoying and drains the battery. Not able to access this app now. When I open it, it automatically closes seconds later without showing any emails.
**fix this issue so i will update my rating** Every time we receive email, we get notifications in our desktops and mobile phones. If we check all our emails on the desktop, the notifications on our phones, will NOT go away. The email notification in mobile remains until we open the app. This is not a sync issue. This is not an Android issue. This is not a feature request. And it's happening even with the latest version of the app (Jan 27, 2022 release). It's basic thing!
Like most Microsoft software, Outlook seems to be pretty out of touch with what most users want. It has unnecessary features like the Focused Inbox, it runs slower than most email apps, and God help you if you have to attach a photo to an email because Outlook practically implodes trying to access the photo library every time. Please fix Microsoft!
I really enjoyed this app on my old LG phone for Hotmail and POP3 accounts. Used it for years. Love the option of focused filtering. Unfortunately, my POP3 account with this app functions horribly on my new Samsung phone. It won't sync real-time even though I've selected every 15 minutes. When I manually sync it, it downloads every email in the account noting it as arriving today even though the email was more than a year ago. Looked at all the settings but can't seem to fix it.
Far and away the best email app out there... and it's free with no ads. Can't beat it. I would give 5 stars but the notifications have been glitchy since day 1; for instance, after opening the app to read an email, the notification that I have an unread email will continue to present (and even sometimes re-appear). Also, with every new, legit notifcation I continue to see old emails alongside. Should be an easy fix for a big company but they don't seem interested in this annoying bug.
Ultimately I like this app. Been an Outlook user for 10+ years, and as far as being able to use it on a phone this is mostly sufficient. I REALLY wish I could categorize my appointments in the calendar from the app instead of having to get on my laptop to do it. That's why this is getting four stars. Please give me that capability!!!
I figure I would try to use the outlook app as I have office 365 email from my web page host and that is what they offer. There is nothing spectacular so far with this app that any other email app I have tried except there is no pop up ads. However, I can't expand the email to full screen when in landscape mode which my tablet basically forces me to be in when using the keyboard cover (Tab S7) and it's driving me nuts. I will use another app until Microsoft can figure it out.
I prefer working with my emails on a desktop or laptop. The phone version has a different, quirky interface with Focused and Other tabs. Navigating to the various folders could be improved to close the folder column after a folder is selected. It must manually be closed by the user before the contents of any selected email in a folder can be read intelligibly. Now I can't get the chime sound that occurs when an Outlook notification is received to stop sounding. Android sound is set to Silent.
It's Outlook it's the most capable of email/communications/document management application out there. What makes it the most capable it is very widely adopted in essence people know how to use it and as time goes on it becomes more and more entrenched in the user's mind as the only workable solution. It is not true that this is the only workable solution but as of now generally speaking over all Microsoft systems are the language of business. I am thankful Outlook works as well as it does
I am a student and Microsoft Outlook is the best software for organization, time management and communication. I selected Microsoft Outlook primarily due to its' reputation and stellar security features. I truly believe that both the students and faculty, at my academic institution, are not disappointed.
The swipe feature is either back or I missed the subtle change to it in the last update. When viewing emails you can only swipe back & forth from within the header at the top of the page or at the bottom where it says "reply." I found this by accident and wonder why they didn't make this clear after the update! I'm glad the feature is back but can't give it 5 Stars because of angst it gave me thinking it was deleted! Apparently even Tech Support isn't aware of this! Communication is Everything!
Great app but a little glitchy. When spanned across two displays on the Duo, if on the Deleted or Junk folder and you'd like to empty it the little trash can to clear is on the left screen but the prompt to clear the folder is on the right. Small but irritating. Also when spanned, if creating a new email the screen glitches for a second before refreshing both screens. When replying to an email the SwiftKey keyboard pops up but the office app doesn't shift, leaving you unable to see whats typed.
I would give this NO stars if I could. When installed it takes over settings. It forces itself to be the default mail app in android. I want my Gmail to be default, not Outlook. Go into settings to change it, and it refuses to move over to Gmail app. Always stays on Outlook. I removed it for this reason. No app should take over settings like this without permission, which it never asks for. AVOID THIS APP IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Edit: Now it seems to not take over on Android 11.
Edit: App randomly started working last night. Keeping this up until its proven to work. This should have never been an issue. As of today I can't log in to any versions of Outlook mobile and the support they offer is abysmal to say the least. Even the web portal for Outlook via mobile freezes when I try to log in. I've tried on 3 different browsers now as well. This is all on mobile. Desktop is okay for now. The support help has been completely dismissive and of no actual help at all.
The App itself is fine (good, even) but it forces a "search with bing" button into your long-press menu when you select text. This is an aggressive and invasive tactic to prop up a failing product, and it's unacceptable considering how it adds absolutely nothing to the app. The lengths msft will go to keep bing from dying the natural death it deserves are astounding.
This app has been around long enough, that a print email feature should exist! As a user viewing an email, I want to be able to print out the email or any attachments directly to my wireless enabled printer, so that I can share a paper copy of it with someone who needs a hard copy of the email! (8 pts, put it in the next release!)
App is great & was easy to understand & navigate being my school & employer use the same. I can link & use on all device as well as access from anywhere. The cloud is helpful to retrieve documents from any location. Although I wish there was a way to recall messages once sent. Please incorporate that into the personal/school version of outlook.
Outlook for Windows, as part of Microsoft 365, is my most indispensable software. I live in Outlook most of the day. I use Windows Outlook's Mail, Calendar, and Contacts—together—constantly. I even use Contacts to dial my phone. I am 100% content with both Word or WordPerfect, but I would not willingly give up Outlook. Android Outlook delivers mail quickly, with the Windows version's folder structure intact. The Calendar is fully functional. Mail and Calendar sync almost instantly with my Windows computer. I would rate the Android versions of Outlook's Mail and Calendar 5 stars. However, the rest of Outlook is missing. The most serious lack is is Contacts. The product description says that contacts are included, but that is false. That is a huge drawback because I need my Contacts up to date. If you use Outlook Tasks (I don't), you will miss their absence in the Android version. Because these features are missing, I rate Android Outlook 3 stars.
I think this is the best e-mail app, but ever since one of the recent updates I'm unable to swipe left or right to view other e-mails. There is a setting to allow swiping from conversation to conversation, but it isn't working for me. PLEASE FIX. I don't like having back out of one e-mail & click on another individual e-mail to view it, and I really don't wanna use a different e-mail platform. 😫
Not good in blocking spam. They have the same subject and body, but they keep on coming in again and again, even after being reported as phishing, Outlook does not block them and it does not allow to create rules, which it annoying. The app needs to add the option to block senders without having togo to the full website. Please improve
This app consistently stops syncing with my inbox. I get a phone notification that an email has come in and can read the first line or so, but when I click on it or open the app directly, it can't load the message. I've reset my account multiple times and even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and when doing so it has problems adding my account. No error message, but nothing happens whenever I click add account. This app does not work and it is very frustrating. I am on a Samsung S8.
The app struggles to switch between calendar and email. It's difficult to find attachments if there are multiple messages in a thread. Old emails are very hard to find. When you search for an email by the sender you can't then open the email as you are in search mode.
Outlook for Android is not yet up to the standard of Outlook for Windows Phone. The most missed features are the extensive text-formating capabilities that were available in Outlook for Windows Phone... The Android version has practically zero formating tools. The other missed feature is the ability to have different themes for email and calendar: Outlook for Microsoft Phone allowed the user to have a dark theme for the calendar and a light theme for email... That was a smart energy solution.
The way it has been changed sucks so much having to some stupid verification to log in everytime and it never works, then it keeps crashing, it doesn't link properly sets off security alerts constantly. I started getting a ton of spam to my box when I used to get none. I finally gave up and deleted the whole app. And just log in through the web page which is a real inconvenience. But since I can't get the old version I used to have back guess I'm stuck...
Works well, layout can be modified to show/hide almost anything you like. Spam/junk filtering is about 95% accurate, but it does on occasion take a piece of email known as not junk/spam and puts it into the junk folder. The "Pin" option also doesn't work, never has since I've been using the app and that's over 2 years. Would love to see a "select all" option for searches!
Best email service I've ever used. Any emails I get about appointments automatically saved to my phones calendar. Never any issues with it(knock on wood). Highly recommend more than Google. As of 1/10/2022, I've been suddenly receiving junk email in my main folder and I had the settings set to automatically sort them. Please don't tell me we ourselves have to change the settings every time an update takes place because that's nearly every week and highly inconvenient. Please fix asap! T.I.A!
UPDATE: The battery consumption problem gas been gone for quite a while. The app works fine now. This app consumes incredible amounts of battery capacity. Since "upgrading" to this app, my battery life is half what it used to be. I get device warnings about extreme battery consumption from this app. I hate it, but am forced to use it by my company. It is also very annoying that, in order to see my calendar, I have to enter email them click on the calendar icon at the bottom of the screen.
Massive miss: Push notifications only, no fetch. How is it I can't turn off realtime on this app when EVERY other app I have does? The notifications also come in so fast they ignore filtering rules and i get alerts for messages that I filter out of my inbox. That's a major annoyance that makes me go to the Gmail app often instead. Search function is good, mimics web experience nicely, fine design. Too many missing settings relative to competitors though.
I use Outlook along side One Drive. For some reason lately, the option to save to One Drive without opening the email attachment is gone. Also, when I back out of an email, I am put back to the top of the list, which means I have to scroll back through hundredsof emails to get back to where I had been. It is extremely annoying. Please return this to the previous user friendly options.
It's missing a lot of functions including customization of colors and backgrounds. It's a functional app but only to an extent. And in the year of 2022 this is unacceptable. How lazy does one have to be to make billions of dollars and not be able to form an intuitive comfortable app for a major email provider? Lame..
How does Microsoft have one of the worst email apps of all time? Constantly shelling out huge updates to never fix issues and just slow down the app even more. Over a year later I'm still having the bug where you cant do multiple emails with photos without closing the app out. If I didnt know any better, I'd say they purposefully put out this terrible app because I just dont understand how such a large tech company can make a simple email app suck so bad.
Hitting "send" often saves a draft rather than sending the message, leading to missed communications. That is HORRIBLE and needs fixed immediately. The app is often so slow as to be unusable. I may wait minutes for my email to display or my calendar to appear, and often have to force-close and reopen the app to get any screen update whatsoever. The app is great when it works, especially the "Search" function, which is very insightful. Overall app is better than others but still has frustrations.
Didn't ask Outlook to include a "bing search" on my long press menu system wide. It did so anyway. Can't find a way to disable it other than uninstalling. This is an email app. There's no reason for it to install something like a system wide bing search option. For Christ's sake Microsoft, at least keep the ads you're going to try to shove down our throats confined to the app itself, not sprinkled about the whole damn phone.
Great program for being able to place your emails in folders for organization. We use it at work, and I purchased it for at home. With a Microsoft 365 account, you can use the exchange server which allows outlook to be used on both home computer and cell phone, and keeps everything in sync. Very stable software. It does what it is supposed to do very well. The 365 account also gives me 1TB of cloud storage, which is more than I will ever need.
I have been using Microsoft Outlook for business and personal use for over 20 years and it has always been nothing but the most efficient and no-nonsense email server out there. Also great for filtering out spam and best of all is that this email server has no annoying advertisements pushed through and it has always worked flawlessly with my Android phones.
This app is not user-friendly in any capacity. The inability to collapse subfolders or better view of threads as conversations. Even trying to search for something specific is horrible. I was able to use my Samsung Mail app, however, with work changes it can't synced beyond a few months, which is why I was forced to try this one. It needs MAJOR improvements.
I had to update my password for my company email address and now Outlook doesn't give any notifications when a new email arrives. I've made sure all the notification settings are set properly on my device and through the app, but I still don't receive them. I have reset the account, cleared cache, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, but still can't get notifications. Yet again, Microsoft creates more over-engineered garbage
Terrible. Was using it on Pixel 6 Pro. I couldn't even forward emails to other people. I could only enter their email address, but was locked out of typing my own message or being able to press the Send button. Also, maybe I'm just used to Samsung email, but I hate the way Outlook consolidates your inboxes from different accounts. The interface is clumsy. It's hard to tell if you're viewing the combined inbox or an individual account. It's confusing to look at when switching between them.
My Outlook account is constantly full, preventing me from receiving new email. You know, I could more easily keep it updated if I didn't have to open each email individually to delete. Other mail apps allow you to check the boxes of emails you wish to delete without opening them, and deleting all at once. If it weren't for older emails that I wish to retain, I'd have dumped this horrible app a long time ago.
While I find the app useful, I saw a number of comments that could easily have been resolved by adjusting the settings. I would suggest you go to your account and then hit the settings gear. One problem I had was a constant notification to get Outlook. I removed that by clearing the signature line in settings.
I've always loved this email host and app but in 2021 and 2022, it's constantly telling me that my email is almost full and now, when I am in the process of clearing out old emails or doing whatever I need to do in order to make room, the app crashes every single time I try to open it! I've gone through every single troubleshooting step recommended on Google and nothing works!
Simple to use! Only downside is spam emails are constant just wished Outlook would have that kind of blocking of useless information. Also the annoying ads! We are in a new era and I believe it should not be in Outlook. If you take these issues and remove them in consideration Then I would consider Microsoft Outlook to be number one or top rated!
Absolutely love the Outlook email and calendar app. It works seamlessly with my work exchange server, and I haven't had any issues that I've had in the past with other email amd calendar apps in regards to snycing. I also like the email settings better and customization options, and ease of setting, accepting and canceling appointments.
This app is garbage compared to it's iOS counterpart. Moving emails from the inbox to a folder works 50% of the time. I'll select multiple emails to move to a folder and it'll do one of three things. Actually move the emails. It'll move maybe 3 or 4 of the selected emails to the folder. Or it just won't move anything to the folder, even after multiple tries.
I hate it when updates make apps worse. It used to be possible to make the badge count show only calendar notifications, while excluding unread message counts (which can be in the hundreds for some of us). Now, the only way to exclude unread messages from the badge count is to disable the badge count altogether. Holding on the app icon used to show calendar notifications as well, where they could be swiped away. Now it shows some default actions that aren't relevant to the badge.
Overall a great app, but you can't print, you can't even share out to your cloud of choice. The email is just stuck in outlook!! Not having such a basic feature seems oddly intentional... why?!? You make me reach for my laptop, when you could just let me do it on my phone!! Not cool, man.
I haven't had many problems over the years but one problem I've had has been consistent. Whenever I clear my notifications, I end up getting bombarded with new notifications for each individual email I have already received the notifications for. Sometimes I give up clearing notifications because it doesn't stop.
Outlook use to be my "go to" for all emails in one place. Terrible. For months I've been having sign-on problems on mobile. Last few weeks it sends alerts for new emails. But Crash, crash, crash is all i get. Desktop works fine. It's mobile phone app that's issue. Time to find alternative.
Lots of issues. Constantly crashes. It will notify me of emails but when I open the app, they are nowhere to be found. Emails won't load when I click on them. And to top it off, this app adds a global "Bing search" item to the long press connect menu.
I am extremely unhappy that Outlook has injected "Bing Search" into my copy/paste menu in some apps on my phone. This is behaving like adware: I don't want it, but it just put itself there and I can't easily disable it. Users need to be able to opt out of this, but I can't find a way to do so anywhere. It's kinda like when Apple put the U2 album in everyone's iTunes, but instead I have to see the words "Bing Search" it every time I want to copy a piece of text. So, thanks for that, I hate it.
It's a corporate targeted email app, and it behaves like one. Does its job for what I need it for, but I'm surprised and frustrated that it's not possible to schedule emails with the mobile app. This UX is made much worse by the fact that my organization has restricted external access to be via mobile only. Microsoft needs to add scheduled emails to its mobile clients. Preferred UI for this would be a long press on the send button.
I mean works smoothly. I can read my mail and like the Report Junk/Phishing feature. But what is up with the total lack of navigation options when reading email and especially deleting email? When deleting an email you are reading, it takes you to Inbox. I would like to see the prev email. 1st day of using it, found a work around. Keep moving thru the emails swiping, then deleting 'em all at once from the Inbox. Next day, swiping to navigate from in an email stopped working. Wassup w/that?
DO NOT RELY ON THIS APP. This app was awesome for YEARS! Then recently, Notifications became hit and MOSTLY miss. You can send and receive emails fine but at the end of the workday, when you notice it's been a little too quiet.. You're going to open this app and have a lot of unread emails from throughout the day. Went through my settings. This is going on with multiple devices.
The last update must have been a doosey. When the app stays open for you, and doesn't freeze then just disappear, you can't swipe-scroll from one email to the next like you can on Gmail or yahoo. You open one, close it, then you can open your next email. Just don't get in a hurry, unless you are composing an email. You'll need to type fast before the app freezes and closes, especially if you need to send an attachment from your Android phone, it won't automatically save your Draft.
I'm sad to say my Outlook account was somehow taken over and password changed. It took weeks for me to complete Microsoft's verification and regain access. Too late as all my savings had been stolen. I believe the Outlook mobile app was somehow vulnerable, so I advise everyone get a VPN on your phone and use a more secure email app! I've switched to Proton , myself. I had previously had many issues with Outlook: not sending things when I hit send , putting vital correspondences into Spam etc
Hello. Help!!!! I can't seem to send emails. If I send through the app, it gets hung up in my outbox and then goes out after midnight. Any emails I received during the day, I do not see until the following day. There is some type of hang up. I have uninstalled and reset everything and it still does not work. It also, does not work online. When I try to send an email I get an error. I have no settings to delay anyting. I am very tech-savvy but I just cannot figure this out. I need help.
Outlook has been very frustrating lately. Half my emails don't come through, some completely disappear even if I've responded to them, and right now I can't see any of the content when I open an email. These issues have caused so many problems and I just can't keep up anymore. I'm honestly thinking of not using outlook anymore. It's just too many problems.
Like this app better than the original one I used. Easy, concise, and quick. I can read the email titles simply and decide if I send them to the junk folder. Speaking of which, the option to mark as junk or ignore conversation,(block) God send. All in all, very happy with THIS Outlook app.
I love getting a notification for a new email but having to wait multiple minutes before the app will show that email. Great for time sensitive work emails. It's strange that it knows there's a new email enough that I can see the notification preview but not actually read the mail. Happens constantly.
Syncing on the app is horrendous. Over wifi, everything works fine, however over 4g/5g nothing syncs timely. I tried syncing when I have 4-5 bars and it just sits and sits and shows a circle. This could be how information is routing or the app can't process the data from the 4g/5g connection. Please review and improve on 4g syncing capability. Also, "resetting Account" is not a acceptable long term solution. This app is critical for business. This needs to be more stable.
The app works ok. I have 4 different email accounts so it works well to have all the emails drop into the same inbox. The issue comes up thought that no matter if I'm in my main inbox for all or an individual email box I cannot move the emails to a folder. I go to move and it takes me back to the top of the inbox and doesn't move the email. This is very frustrating. I've reinstalled and waited for updates and it still happens.
Horrible. Sometimes it works great, then it will stop. It will say it sent an email, and in actuality, the email did not send. I'll get a notification that I received and email, but the app won't show the email. The search function tries and freezes. Total waste.
When it works it's really nice and great to use, but over the past 5 months I've had to reinstall it about 15 times because it will just randomly stop receiving mail, or I'll get the notification I got a new email and then I'll click on it to open it and the app will say an error has occured. At which point I have to reinstall the app again.
I have used Outlook and Microsoft products for years. I am very happy with Outlook in general. It's just powerful enough for a phone without lacking needed features, and it's very intuitive and user friendly for those that are not technically savvy. I highly recommend giving this Android-based take on the classic Microsoft Office app a try to see how it works for you! ~Julia
Used to be great. Now my mailbox is constantly switch to "focused" and "conversation" views and I keep missing emails. I was unable to change or disable audio, the app redirects to settings the settings say it is in the app. So I disabled alerts completely for the app. Now considering just taking this off my phone permanently since it isn't reliable. I can't see how anyone is using this application in a productive way. It's a convenient way to send basic emails from my phone. That's it.
12/17 App will not open. Sends message to Outlook support. Been going on for two days. I cleared cache and app data. Rebooted, reinstalled. The problem has only gotten worse. It won't open at all right now. App launches, but gets stuck and then gives an error message and asks to send info to Outlook.
It works. It's simple. It's easy to use. Great user interface, with simple (customizable) swipe gestures for fast email sorting. I.e. delete, flag, archive, etc. It never freezes. I wish that the calendar 📅 was a separate app, but it's easy enough to switch back and forth.
Poor notification system. I will prioritize specific contacts to allow alerts even when my phone is on silent. Yet, I will not receive any notification when they email. I become aware of emails they send (up to a few days earlier) as I refresh the app, itself. I don't know why, but they emails are coming in up to 2-4 days delayed sometimes. I can check it and refresh more frequently, but I have troubleshooted every possible issue.
[I currently use 2 phones] So, the iPhone app immediately took half a gigabyte, that's a LOTTA junk. My android phone on the other hand, is extremely basic.. So this app is off the table, for sure. The Apple Mail app on my iPhone, which already contains two separate email accounts, takes up just 40MB..!? Less than 10% of the storage! So of course that's snappier as a result. I still need to use outlook mail for work though, so I gotta link it to some 3rd-party client, or just Apple Mail.
