Can't even log a session because the app frequently freezes and crashes and causes me to lose all of the climbs that I had logged but were not yet submitted

Great app. The only things that bothers me is the fact that i can't play music from my phone while training, just because on every exercise the explanatory video starts. I wish there was a feature to enable/disable the autoplay of the videos, since you can watch them before and it's not that useful to play them in the training, in fact the time of the exercise is running, so you should be already doing the exercise, not watching the video on how to do it.

It's clear there is neither a cloud or local storage component to training exercises. Glad this app exists and some pros are onboard, but I can't practically use it if I can't recover an in progress training circuit or reliably have it run in the background when I switch apps during breaks. One other must have feature is to mute all autoplay video so that I can listen to music from the same device. Keep at it.

Such a great platform to engage yourself and others in your climbing journey, training, and available coaching are wonderful. Met so many great friends in such a short time with one main focus, to have fun and log you climbs no matter where you are in the world! Thank you to MYCLIMB! Glad I found you and will choose no other! Keep it up and gray application!

I've been using MyClimb for a few years now, it's easy to use. Nice to keep track of your daily climbs by ratings. Also has custom goals and monthly goals. I haven't gone a day in months not using it.

Lots here. UI is a bit clunky and not very intuitive. Good app but it needs to trim the fat and do fine tuning

I can't believe it's free. Literally no adds, just tons of really good work outs and the ability to analyze your own climbing over any period of time. I just hit 2K logged climbs and can see that the last 1K were logged over the past 5 months with 112 days climbed so far this year. And if it wasn't already good enough, they keep adding to the app 🙌

I have been using this app to help me with my "head game" by focusing on individual goals in climbing versus comparing self with others. Being able to see a community of climbers on their own climbing journeys helped me during a time when I was starting to feel discouraged about my (lack of) progress. The app can stall at times but it doesn't bother me as the benefits are more than the minor inconvenience.

Once you figure out how to use it, it is pretty awesome for all around fitness and climbing fitness. I had to adjust some settings on my phone to keep it from locking when using the app so it wouldn't reset the session.

Haven't tried it yet as much as I'd like, but the app already looks very promising and useful. Will update my review as necessary, with more hands/fingers-on experience.

tl;dr Very thorough and reasonably user friendly. Good for any kind of climber (gym, outdoor; toprope, lead, bouldering). Easy to recommend. However it looks a little clunky and is missing speed option. pros: settings for toprope, lead, and outdoors climbing; auto saves your sessions amd allows editing as needed; input location of gym/outdoor location to post to a specific place; react and interact with others do NOT get if: you want to post private sessions or are a speed climber

Every time I try to log a climb I can only choose gym routes, not finding a way to log outdoor routes, this's very annoying.

Excellent App to log all types of climbs. The image upload can be a little funny sometimes but doesnt affect logging the climbs. Use it all the time now!

Great for tracking climbs. The Add Location feature keeps crashing for me, but this isn't the main reason why I use the app. I just skip location and keep an eye on my grades. I like the challenges, although it would be good to differentiate gym VS outdoor challenges.

I have no issues with this app, I use it to track my climbs every time I visit the gym. Happy to have an app that is easy to use and applies to the climbing gyms in my local area!

Looks like an amazing app, but as another reviewer mentioned it crashes, every single time. I have tried using it on several devices, so it's not just my phone. Hopefully the developer fixes this before they lose their customer base.....

I really like the workouts and all, but really important part of my workout is music. When i start a workout, the videos stop the music from spotify. I wish, there would be an option to turn off the sound in the app.

You can't get in unless you use nonsense passwords and it needs to be easy to set like master lock set-your-own 5-dial word/number combination padlock.

The features of the app are great - everything the app promises, it does very well. The only thing that needs improvement is the responsiveness of the UI and the interface. It's rather ugly and confusing. But more importantly, it is extremely slow. I hope the devs see this to invest time in improving the app quality. I love the features of the app, though!

I love using this app to track my climbing progress. It is really intuitive to use and also educational. There are great training and workout plans to follow if your not sure what to do, or you can just log your climbs in and out of the gym. You can connect with friends and other climbers to see how they are doing and get feedback as well.

This is a great app to record your climbs and routines, while also seeing what other members are posting/recording. You can see gyms near you, as well as find fellow climbers! There are some really strong climbers using this app, so it's cool to be able to see what they have been tackling and checking out any routines or workouts they post. If you're a climber, whether in a gym or outside, this app will help you push your climbing on a digital level.

Got to the point were I had to follow 25 freaking guidelines for a valid password. Still didn't accept the password because "password should not contain username". Which it obviously didn't. Fail.

Tries to do way too many things. Of course you need to create an account, then constantly asks for your location. Animations are slow and take forever. I just want to track my climbing, stop asking me where I climb because you obviously don't have the location...

This app has a bug that causes my 'default home screen' selection to be overridden, so every time I click home I get the popup asking me to select which app to use (even if I select 'always' or set a default app in the settings). You can't imagine how annoying that is The devs of Nova Launcher can help you fix this.

No privacy. I can't choose which parts of my profile are visible to others, and the app shows my full name by default which I find ridicilous. Can't even find where to delete my profile. Bad user interface.

I like the app, it's good for tracking climbs. The only thing I don't like is when you're in workout mode you can't list your gym and attempts, if it takes multiple attempts, when you're doing a workout otherwise it's a overall pretty good app.

Been using the app for almost a year & I like it overall. I used to write everything down, so this app helps a bunch, especially seeing historical data. I like having "friends" but don't really care about activity from people I don't know, so I would like the app to default to my Friends or Location feed instead of the Global feed. The monthly challenges/leaderboards are motivating. I haven't done the workouts at all yet. App developer is responsive to feedback/bug issues.

I can't see any workouts. The app says I need to update to the newest version, but I have the newest version in the Play Store. I'd like to use the workouts, but right now the only value I get from the app is seeing new routes before I get to the gym and seeing grades before they're posted in the gym.

Love the app! I use it for my workouts which prepare me for project days. Actually, I love following the workouts and then going into my projects afterwords. Even better, it's fun to see your stats over time as to what you have climbed over time. Active development team that's striving hard to make this app even better, which is great!

Way too complex and way too social. I just want something to log climbs. Instead it shows me infinite training programs. Lists the acticity of a bunch of people I don't know. I can't even find where to log my climbs whoch I thought would be the main functionality.

If the community would be a bit bigger in my area I would enjoy even more - nice one! Update: Two stars downgraded! Since month I experience the same bugs: First, I cannot open the friends activities in the Notifications (very annoying) and second: I cannot upload any picture any more! Has the support of this app run out?? Update: After reply a couple of month ago nothing changed at all - one star less. Sry guy's, but you need to fix that! Update 07.01.2020: Thanks to the great support of the developers we were able to fix things quickly. Google play did not update to the newest version. A simple uninstall and reinstall did the trick. So far everything works fine - upgrade back to 5 stars since I really like the app! Thanks!

i use MyClimb every time i go to the gym or get on an established route. its very useful for keeping track of how often i climb, which routes, whether ive climbed them before, etc. the challenges are a great way to motivate myself to climb more and push for more sends each session. it also offers a way to engage in a little friendly competition with my brothers and other climbing friends. overall a great app, and im told it will only get better w the updates we are promised in the summer (2020)

My favorite thing about MyClimb is the ability to see what personal progress has looked like, over time! I also enjoy being able to look back on a day and see exactly what I worked, any notes I may have left myself for beta, and what others are up to near me. The user-friendly interface, straightforward logging process, and neat social aspect (along with the future possibilities of workouts, goals, and the likes being added) make MyClimb a useful tool that is well rounded and easy to use.

Really useful as a climbing diary, would be nice to be able to see the graphs they offer based on time rather than individual sessions, and have a stacked bar for attempts vs completions in each grade. Eg in January you tried 10 v4 and got 1 as a single bar, then feb you tried 20 and got 5 as the next single bar. Do something like attempts in orange, sends in green. Would help track progress even better!

Good app, login is horrific. The login and sign up are the same menu, after I sign in with good it tells me to create an account even though I already have. Keeps telling me to enter my password but it never made me create one in the first place. please fix, I can't get in.

Great app guys and good job! I recently bought a new phone (OnePlus 7 Pro) and the display misbehaves. It cuts the words so you do not know where to click. Any idea if it's an already mentioned bug and if you plan to fix it? I cannot give more stars at this point since the app is not really usable with this bug. Sep 2019 update: Bug fixed! Can't wait to use the app! Super responsive team and you can see the owner really cares about the community. Thanks again! If I could give more stars I would.

Causes issues with OnePlus 3, constantly asking which launcher you want to use, and cannot be uninstalled normally, has to be uninstalled through settings. Seems legit. Would be interested to see how well the app works without these issues. How can I go about claiming this chalk bag?

The app overall is great, works very smooth and is easy to figure out. Only issue I've had is, I took too long between logging a session and posting, and about an hour and a half of tracking was lost. It had an autosave feature that saved me before, but doesn't seem to work every time. If you're planning to take a break or switch appa for too long, be sure to post your progress!

Seems like a super good, handy app with a great concept, but on my 1+ 6T phone, the text tends to go offscreen, or is cut out to the point where the app is unuseable :( I'd love for this to get fixed because, again, the app looks amazing!

Doesn't really add anything substantial, compared to e.g. 27 crags. I expected the workouts section to be a bit more interesting in terms of climbing related excersices (e.g. pull-ups or other things you can do with a hanging board), but I just got a progression of what grades I should do in my session, which is just pointless...
4

Jun 7, 2019
incredibly slow... forces you to create an account... of course it doesn't validate the email address so just use a fake one.. also gets really cranky when you don't give it location permission... as a developer who is mindful of good ux and good privacy design principles... i consider this to be very poor

It's an excellent way to track your progress in climbing. On my smartphone, everything is working smoothly. The interface is quite intuitive. I like this application. I hope to take the most of it if I find any gym which is supporting QR Codes. I will track the app development. I hope it will surprise me with new cool features.

MyClimb is a great way to keep track of your climbs, and if it saw more users would be a good social outlet for gym regulars. You can view other's workouts, and the point system adds something for competitive folks to strive for. The app does tend to redraw itself often; I find myself having to reopen my workouts to add climbs if I leave my phone alone for too long, or if I use the camera. That's not a deal breaker for me, but it's something to keep in mind.

Congrats - it's great to see how far this app has come along since you first told me about it at Touchstone in L.A... Because I travel almost weekly, and seek out bouldering gyms in every city I visit (with barely any time to pursue outdoor climbs), this is a logical supplement to Mountain Project. Very useful, I'm going to try to make it a habit to log frequently. Good work!

Good little app. Takes a sec to figure out and configure, but overall good for keeping a log of climbs. Some things could be improved (ie. integrate android back button instead of close app and on long idle it should auto save a session).

great in concept but the implementation has issues. was at the gym entering climbs as I did them and switched to another app, when i switched back my progress had disappeared and the app claimed no connectivity. Would like to see the ability to scan a qr code while doing one of the pre defined workouts. Currently it just gives you the ability to edit each one at the end, but even there it doesn't give you qr option and I have to remember which route I did. Would be great to just be able to scan the qr code before I press start for a specific rep. At the end would be nice to see those reps then listed in my daily session. Otherwise been a great app so far.

This app is actually pretty well executed. It runs smoothly and is pretty easy to navigate. However, I found that I was not motivated to track my climbs for very long. I would be more compelled to continue taking climbs if more interesting statistics were offered, such as total feet climbed. Additionally, more in-app competitions would provide greater motivation (something better than "complete 20 climbs this month").

Haven't used it, but it isn't secure so 2 stars. It only lets you use 10 symbols for your password. True, I'm not worried about people hacking my climbing data but that's just bad practice. The most important thing for a good password is easy to remember and long. This does neither, also requiring a number. Maybe if the password is a certain length then the password doesn't need a number? edit: they fixed it, 5star

I had been looking for an app to track climbing for ages and saw this from an Instagram advert. I thought I'd try it out for a few sessions and loved it from the start. As well as tracking climbs it also allows you to do specific workouts for reaching personally climbing grade goals. It's definitely something I'm going to keep using every time I climb! No faults worth noting so far as well! A solid companion.

Really liking this app. I love the idea of tracking my climbs from gym to gym and outdoor as well. I love the little workouts, not sure if it does this already, but it would cool to add other sorts of climbing training, stretching, cool downs etc. I like the fact you have leaderboards and can post images or videos of your climbs. The challenges are fun as well. My one issue is sometimes my sessions get lost. It would be cool if the app saves in the background or if for some reason WiFi goes out or phone crashes that it can continue where you left off. Great job keep it up

It was working fine when I first installed it a couple of months ago. But now the location either tells me it's not set up or when it does run it tells me that I'm in Philadelphia when I'm in Eugene Oregon. It's a very nice app. I hope it becomes the standard for logging climbs. For now, many of my buddies are members but hardly any log their climbs. We simply don't take our phones with us while climbing, and it looks kinda nerdy to take out your phone to log a climb right after descending.

6/13 - Great app! It's nice to be able to quickly log a session. Not sure if it's a feature already or is in the works, but it would be cool to have a [graphical] overview of your progress, with milestones for when you completed a new difficulty. As for the issues below, the app runs somewhat quicker now, and the second issue below was resolved. Older version - Nice concept, but there's 2 major issues: 1) The app is poorly optimized, so it's fairly slow doing anything. 2) The "add another climb" button doesn't work, making it a pain to submit more than one climb per session. If these two items are fixed, it's a 5 star app.

I track every send and attempt with MyClimb. It's great to get that extra little push when I'm just a few points behind someone else, and to see my own progress over time. I recently started adding photos, videos, and notes to my logs and just the process of logging has helped me identify and work on areas to improve. Like most things in life, it works as well as you work it.

I like the way the intro explanations are laid out within the app, they're clear and unobtrusive. I'm looking forward to making this a useful tool to motivate and prevent injury. I have one request to make the app even better... Allow users to control the privacy of their progress, like in Strava. Right now every climb is openly visible to all, but there are various reasons people might not want this information broadcasted to everyone. To name some reasons: personally identifiable habits and location can be a security risk, or some people might simply not want to compare progress with others. Until privacy can be controlled, I'll be using a pseudonym.

I love this app for keeping track of my progress. The graphs are really useful. They really help me to know where exactly I am and helps me to pinpoint things to work on in my climbing workouts. I think the point system is off but I don't really care about my points. I also don't love the attempt feature for bouldering and so I don't use it but I would love it if it had a project feature for bouldering- not for points but just to keep track of for my logs.

I like this app because it helps me track my climbs. It is nice to be able to take pictures of the hardest climbs I do. I also like seeing gyms around me and people who are logging climbs at my gyms. One thing that would be cool is if gyms could log in to the app and feature a route or problem that is worth extra points for the day/week/month. Allowing gyms to create accounts could add a lot of cool features.

It is a neat little app; however, has two problems. Firstly, the UI is pretty subpar with crammed designs and poor aesthetic. Secondly, the lack of people who use the app; needs more promotion. Thanks!

Nice app if you want to keep track of your progress both out on the crags or boulders as well as in the climbing gym. And if you want to make your climbing more social you can search for climbing buddies in your area. I had a problem with the app and when I contacted the developer they where very responsive and friendly and helpful.

Another crappy app built by people who know nothing about programming. User creation is completely screwed up. The entire point to using Facebook/Google to authenticate to another site is to avoid wasting time and effort on creating accounts all over the web. Also, this app requires far too many permissions such that it can't run without being granted more permissions than it needs. Such apps should never be used, it means they know nothing about security and the app can be used to compromise your entire phone/tablet.

Loving this app. Here's why: -Super easy and quick to log climbing. -Great tool to see progress over time. -Point system, although maybe not perfect, gives you a decent way to compare climbing sessions and see how you stack up with those around you. -The community of people that use it have been super supportive and positive. If you spend a few minutes finding a few active members to follow it can be a great way to find motivation to climb harder. I even found a few new local climbing partners Overall it's become one of my favorite apps on my phone. Thanks MyClimb team!

We're trialing the app at our gym. It's fun, fairly intuitive. One of our members recommended taking your pho e at the end of your climbing session and logging all your climbs rather Tha. Carrying it around the whole time this seems like a good plan.

I'm new to climbing and the app, but have found it useful to help me log climbs and learn more about the sport. The only tech issue I have found is that I get notifications from people who "like" activities, but can't visit their profiles or activities. Other apps allow you to do this directly from your notifications, even if the people interacting with your activities are not followers/friends.

Needs a bit of work to use smoothly. Found adding mixed discipline sessions really awkward and the UI confusing and counter intuative. Adding information for a session seems to be straight forward if you do it all at once, but it's easy to loose what you're doing as there is too many screens to move through. The data you record for each climb is good and detailed, the selection of the grade rather than typing is good and style choice is useful.

I think the app has a great user interface, that is helpful and fun to track my climbing progress. I have a few thoughts for improvements. 1. When choosing my style I would like a hang dog or fall option. I like to know if I was able to lead the climb, even if I wasn't able to red point it. I categorize my climbing ability as 1. climbs I can flash/onsight (kinda the same thing to me, but probably good that there is an option for both). 2. Climbs I can red point (basically climb without falling, but took me some to get it), 3. Climbs I can do all of the moves on but haven't quite polished to the point where I can do it without falling or resting like a hang dog or fall (this doesn't really count for bouldering). 2. I don't think the attempt should be part of the style choices. I can attempt things all day, it doesn't mean I know how to climb anything. The app also counts each attempt as an individual climb. This is especially a problem when it aggregates all of the climbs together for your profile and skews what you are actually able to climb. 3. The point system is a bit wonky. The way that it is set up right now someone could climb a lot of small climbs and be ranked higher than someone who climbs one or two difficult climbs. I use a running/biking app called strava, that ranks you against other runners based one time. It lets you compare yourself to other athletes in the area. This is one of the cooler features of an app like this. It is probably even more accurate in judging skill than is a competition. I don't think the point system does this very well. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this, but if be willing to give it some thought if this review goes anywhere. The answer lies in ranking those that climb harder better than those that don't climb as hard. 4. I think the bar graph that compiles all your climbs should color code for style when "all" is selected. Right now it color coded for difficulty, which isn't useful, because the bar graph already does this. I think that doing this would allow the user to see what level they are flashing, red pointing, and hang dogging all in one visual. I think this would be useful for the user to really get a quality distribution of their climbing ability. 5. You should allow the user to include locations that are not preloaded on the app. 6. Maybe find a way to preload route names. This thought is only half baked, but it would save some time when submitting climbing sessions. I should mention I know this would take a lot of work. I don't think it is entirely necessary, it would just be nice. Thanks for reading!

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Tracks everything and make it look pretty too :P My only complaint is that it always needs wifi/data. Most gyms have spotty wifi at best and I don't use data. A simple "save offline" or "sync later" feature would REALLY be something to add.

I don't use the social features, but useful for tracking climbs. I wish there was something between an "Attempt" and "Repeat" (like "Send"). Right now, if I finished a 60 ft route but took a break 2/3 of the way up, that earns the same points as if I gave up at the beginning (they're both considered "Attempts"), which doesn't seem right.

The UI is really busy and forcing you to organize your climbs into sessions is annoying. Overall it's too busy and clunky to for me to want to use in the gym with my friends. I'm there to climb and socialize primarily, so maybe I'm not the target audience (although there's a lot of social features, so I'm guessing I am the target audience) so the last thing I want to do is get stuck looking at my phone.

I think overall the app is really good, and it is worth 5. You can easily log your climbs, connect with your friends, and it also has the points for each session, which is cool, because it gives me a good idea about how I'm going. This is a great app for logging climbs but the way it logs climbs and sessions is terrible. The app auto-creates a session when you log a climb and tries to merge future climbs into the session but it loses track virtually every time I climb and I end up with several sessions minutes apart. Come on guys, session management should be easy!

I love this app but it has a really annoying bug: every time I connect and don't have 100% Internet connection it freezes on the "please connect..." screen. This app is made by and for the climbing community. No ads and regular updates, you can tell that the people making this app care about making sure it's usable and good looking! I love seeing pics and videos of people's climbs, and it motivates me to keep improving. It's great to have a way to participate in climbing in a global way. Wish more climbers could know about it! It's a climber's best companion aside from a good rope.

This app assigns points, based on climbing difficulty and other factors, so if you enter all the climbs, your points total gives you a numeric estimate of your climbing effort each day. I like that. So far the app doesn't make it easy for me to copy and paste an old climbing session to a new day, which is a bummer since I often repeat the same sequence of warm up climbs etc in the gym. The only summary charts are bar graphs with number of climbs of each grade that you did for all time or last month, etc,

I like the app but there's a few things that make me end up not using it. If you close the app while inputting climbs it sometimes wigs out and loses all the climbs you've put in for that session. Also, if you select the wrong type of climb (top rope vs bouldering or w/e) and go back you will end up cancelling your whole session.

Definitely the most sensible electronic logging I've found for climbing, but training sessions, which is my major interest, are largely ignored. If I have a 4x4 session, plus warmup and cool down, the logging interphase becomes grueling. Some sort of chart to follow progress would help as well. Otherwise, thanks for a good app!

Love being able to log climbs and score points, it's like Strava for climbing! Only little niggle I've found so far is that I can't postition the photo I want to use for my profile; it just picks a random spot for me so my profile pic is now my foot, if you could fix that so we can crop/resize photos that would be great thanks!

Love being able to track my climbs. But is there a way to add a problem, save it and then add another problem that goes to the same session?
