I love the app but your rewind/ff on this the cell phone app is bunk it doesn't stop. you rewind it and if I hit the button for it to stop it just adds more speed onto the rewind or the fast forward whichever one. you need to fix that. you got the rewind/ff and you got the play/pause. play/pause does not work. That really needs to be addressed.

I have used this app for about 2 years or more once the kids lost the original remote. Then there is this update. And a few days ago we had a power outage. I have factory reset my TV and I have Uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I can't get it to find my TV. It keeps asking to connect to the temporary wifi of my TV but there is none listed. Neither will it connect to the home wifi. It's serves no purpose anymore.

*UPDATED* 6/5/22 Still fing sucks!!! Now I cant even see my equipment. It keeps wanting to select my neighbors wifi when I get perfectly fine service! If is a total joke! Why is the app so $%&$ slow when trying to access my soundbar that's only 8 feet away? I could get up and walk to get the remote faster than I can get into the settings with my phone.

I'm editing my review as the newest update got rid of the logo start-up screen. It now goes straight to the remote which is fantastic. It does what I need it to for basic remote functions as well as having a widget for my home screen which is a solid plus. One thing I would love is if they added wear OS compatibility, however that's being picky for when I'm lazy and can't find either my phone or wallet.

Calling this app Unresponsive would be a compliment, I have to spend 20 minutes to try and shut off my TV through this nonfunctional app because I dared to misplace the remote, when I need a new TV I'll know to avoid the company that doesn't put an On/Off switch on its product Edit: this app is responsive..... to every command but off, so you're going to have to unplug your Vizio TV because they cant program an digital remote to save their own lives (or rather, their product)

Updated 5/31/22. When this app stays connected to the TV, it is perfect. Twice a week it drops connection. Unplug TV, uninstall app. Sometimes it reconnects - sometimes it doesn't. I sent an email to the email on this page. Bounced back as undeliverable. This is the best app I've used for any type of mobile replacement. I was pleasantly surprised to find there are more features than the physical remote.

I've used this app for almost 5 years and the only issue I've found is that it has a small lag between command and execution and there is no press and hold feature for things like YouTube to access the options menu. Other than that it's a great app. (Update) newest install annoys me because you have to log in every time you use it.

The only way I can get this app to work is to do frequent uninstalls and reinstalls whenever it stops working, wich is less than a week of use.😡 update: Reinstalling won't turn on tv. I've had my vizo tv for 4 yrs and I've been installing and uninstalling this app for 4 years. Definitely getting a Samsung TV very soon.

The phone's link to the TV often breaks when you go to far away. Then you need to make the phone forget that TV and set it up all over again. When it does work there is a small delayin the TV's response. I suggest just use a remote that came with any Vizio Smart TV. All 3 of my remotes work with both my TV's and my dentist's TV too. I snuck my remote in their office. The receptionist will yell at you for changing the channel though.

Awful!! I can't even get the damn thing to find my tv! My tv is a smart tv! I bought it in 2016! It won't even connect to my Wi-Fi network!? I spent 2 hours trying to connect via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and nothing, it just repeated the stupid same network 10 times and never found my network!! Complete waste of time!! And no fix since I last tried this app Shameful. It took 3 years to respond to this comment I wrote this in 2019 sas a typo and edited! I bought a different TV since then...no need now

No ads. Works with every Vizio t.v. in my home. Each t.v. has it's own device name on the app so theres no problems turning off the wrong tv in the same room like with the normal remotes. Plus there's a tab that makes my phone screen look like the original remote so it's immediately familiar. Perfect app. Does EXACTLY what I need with great additional features.

Could not get the app to work, would not detect my vizio TV. Half the time smartcast screen is unavailable on the TV itself. Follow vizios setup videos, trouble shooting videos and still nothing. At one point long ago I was able to cast but no longer.. most likely trying to force me into buying a new TV if I had to guess.

I will never buy another Vizio TV because of this app. Constantly fails. Have to delete app and reinstall. Then reconnect and set up. So when this happens it takes 15 mins to watch TV. Been going on for two years now. Latest problem is the inability to tap to select. Instead the tap acts like a swipe on the TV screen. This only happen on one of our smart phones.

Works sometimes. Update (5-9-22) Downloaded the app again and now it works just fine. When I first started using it a couple years ago, it worked beautifully for a few months. then it stopped connecting to my tv so I downloaded a different app. That worked for a month and stopped connecting as well. Then other ones just wouldn't connect so I stopped trying. 5 months go by and I try this app again...works just fine. Not sure what's happening. Sounds like my Tv is being fussy.

Bought a refurbed Vizio TV, and the factory remote didn't work. Decided to try the app before buying a universal remote. Glad I did. Was a little awkward setting it up, but it's better than any remote I've had. Streaming from the phone to the TV is convenient as well.

This app only works when it wants to. I have to physically turn the TV on for the remote to work most times. Then there are times it doesn't pick up the TV at all no matter how many times I close the app then start it again. I have had to uninstall & reinstall this app to get it to work twice.

Jan 14, 2022 I contacted Vizio tech support about why the CRAVE 360 speaker no longer works with this app, here's what they said: "The speakers are not able to update to the newest cast shell, so it won't work with the Smartcast app anymore and with a lot of other apps." That seems like a very bad business decision to treat your customers this way, but OK, now I'm in the NEVER AGAIN VIZIO club. Jan 13, 2022 I figured I'd try again to use my CRAVE 360 to CAST Youtube Music to. I WASTED HOURS TRYING TO GET VIZIO SMARTCAST MOBILE APP TO WORK. IT WOULD LOSE CONNECTION TO THE DEVICE even though the device would immediately connect to my network when powered up. This APP makes me GIVE UP on CHROMECAST devices, this is absolutely the worst Android app that I've ever dealt with. INSANITY. Dec 28, 2020 Could not get audio settings! I just wasted an hour trying to get this app to connect to my Crave 360 that I've had for several years. My router went out so I have a temporary wireless router setup with about 12 different devices. I finally got the app to go into setup, and everything "seemed" to be connecting to my new network, i got all the way thru the setup only to have the app show me "Could not get audio settings!" I've closed and reopened the app several times, and powered off/on the Crave 360 speaker several times. Nothing seems to work...

This app is inconsistent. Sometimes it will work for a while, and then it just randomly stops working at all for months. I now use a different app made by a 3rd party that works better. I don't like deleting an app and downloading it 3 times in one day to get it to work. I've had this app for 2 years or so and it has never worked properly. Incase Vizio responds, I don't want your tech support link I want you to pay professionals to make an app that works properly and consistently.

Terrible app, it won't turn the TV on from the app despite the fact that it's supposed to be a REMOTE-the TV needs to already be on before you can use the app to control the TV. The Keyboard is laggy and sometimes it just outright will refuse to work with certain apps. There's a huge input delay. Just avoid this altogether.

Easy to navigate through, nice setup, 5 star application!!! Great job vizio with the simplicity. It's actually easier to use than the real remote. As far as launching applications, you don't have to navigate home and scroll through. That's how you build an application for a remote. Thanks guys!!!

I only need this app to turn the TV on and occasionally to tamper with the picture settings. I have an Xbox and all of my TV watching is done through that, so I don't need much from the app. For what it is, it works wonderfully and far more consistently than any of the 3rd party apps I was using before I found this one.

I think this app would work great. The only thing is I have kept getting the message when I try to pair to my TV it says "unable to pair" and when it does work, it does not show a pin on the TV screen. I have uninstalled the app and installed it again. Please fix this some way or give me a tip.

I LOVE this app. It works GREAT when we can't find the actual remote, or don't feel like grabbing it. I did give it a 4 star rating because it sometimes won't work, like it will always turn the TV off and on and volume up and down and working the menu to change the light settings, but the arrows won't work for certain apps or apps at all. Sometimes restarting both TV and app fix it but I haven't been able to narrow down when this happens and to why but overall, GREAT APP!

I downloaded this for my Vizio Surround Sound system since my toddler loses the remote every 5 minutes. The big question: why does the app not have a capability to turn the system on? It'll adjust volume (a whole minute after hitting buttons on the app) and it'll turn it off (a minute later) BUT IT WILL NOT TURN IT ON! The system times out after about 15 minutes no sound. So if I pause to take the dogs out, guess what, the system turns off. But the app won't turn it back on. Waste of my life.

Runs wonderfully. The only thing I would change is the rewind/fast forward function. You've got to press it for each second or so you wish to go forward or back. Whereas with a normal remote you only need to hold down the button to go forward or back a decent distance. It can become quite frustrating and tedious.

The lack of quality in this app seems representative of Vizio's products as a whole. From extreme unreliability to banner ads delivered over broadcast TV it's impossible for me to recommend this app or any other Vizio product. No Smart TV or its app is without drawbacks, but even accounting for cost, this is among the worst. Find another manufacturer, this probably isn't the one for you.

It was amazing. Flawless even.. Then my TV updated. Now I can't get the remote app to work AT ALL. Every time I try to do something a message pops up telling me that "the device is no longer connected". I did everything that I could possibly do. I tested my network connections, tripple checked that both devices were on the same wifi, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I removed "paired devices" from the TV, I even rebooted my TV. I can pair with the TV now but still get the same message.

Horrible. This Vizio Smart Cast tv is the worst tv I have ever had. The connection to wifi is horrible. The tv not turning on when you try to turn it on happens way too often for a newer TV. The fact that it's now making me download an app because it will not let me go further unless I download this app and accept the ToS and Privacy Policy terms is the last straw. When we get the chance, I'll be upgrading (which won't be hard to do with literally any other brand).

The 'remote' barely works. Won't turn tv on or off, more than half the time it won't let me change the input, as the options don't even come up. Not the end of the world but I need to get up and go to the tv to change input or turn the TV on or off. But the point of having a 'remote' is so that you don't have to do that! Might as well just delete the app since it hasn't worked less than it has worked.

This app is great when it does actually work. I lost the remote so this seemed like a great solution, only it doesn't connect to my TV. It's shows it being paired but nothing more. I've had to uninstall then reinstall so many times that I just ordered an actual replacement remote. Come on now, get it together.

App works okay as a replacement to the real TV remote (we lost ours in a move), but it has its bugs. 1st, sometimes the app doesn't connect to my TV. Workaround is to disconnect wifi and reconnect wifi on my phone. Not sure what the cause is, but turning the TV off and then on again as the app suggests doesn't work. 2nd, app can get desynced from TV. For example, app can say that the TV is currently on input hdmi 4, but it is actually on hdmi 1. 3rd, why are there so many permissions?

Keeps getting worse, Now it won't work at all with setting up on my new Samsung device to control my soundbar. And forget trying to email the developer. The email address they provided to the PlayStore sends back an automated message that says it can only be used to send email, not receive them... Really need this app to work since there remotes are already ridiculous..

Due to teenagers, I've replaced 3 remotes in less than a year. After the 3rd one, I installed this app. Another year down and NO MORE endless hunts for the TV remote. Unlike other apps I didn't have to have any TV codes or anything complicated like that. The app immediately found my TV and all I had to do was enter the code on the TV. I've not had any trouble with this app. Not sure what the fuss is about in the comments cause this app is AMAZING! Everyone in my house uses it. Much appreciated!!

If it works, it's great. However I reboot my TV almost every day to make it reconnect to the app for casting. All of my other smart devices work flawlessly and the TV says it's connected to the network. It responds to Google Assistant commands, but not the app or anything I try to cast to it until I reboot the TV almost every time I want to use it

**I love how they say I need to check my network when my network is FINE. No change to rating. Just bought a brand new Vizio soundbar and this app refuses to stay connected or reconnect to it. Set up kept disconnecting me when pairing. Right now it is useless. Just trying to get the soundbar connected to Wi-Fi is a pain. Fortunately, soundbar can be connected to LAN line and updated via USB. But nothing is wrong with my Wi-Fi... Vizio just doesn't want to fix its issues.

Hey Vizio, stop giving review feedback that basically suggests user error. When so many people are having the same issue, it's probably an issue with the app itself. My remote ALSO keeps being unable to run the TV. I'm very tech savvy, and all the normal and t2 fixes fail to help. Just investigate, fix the problem, and push an update to the app and to your TVs.

Doesn't sync ever, this app sucks it's useless it never syncs it doesn't control anything the ONE time I managed to get it to work it had a REALLLLY bad lag with the sound. It was like watching a dubbed film only it wasn't actually dubbed!! Customer service was trash when I emailed them. I have a sound bar, the remote lasted 3 months was hardly used. Worst Vizio experience ever. I have tried reinstalling and setting up the soundbar again. To no avail. This is all trash.

Everything would function fine until step 4 of the set up process where I would attempt to log into my WiFi, at the bottom of the screen it would say "connection successful" but in the middle of the screen it would continue to try connecting to my network. Unfortunately, after some time it gave me an error. Additionally, during this step it would disconnect me from my WiFi causing the phone to switch to mobile data.

I'm updating my original rating from one to three stars. My reasoning is that once you figure it out, it's fairly easy to get it to connect and once connected, it no longer seems to disconnect the next time you want to use it. It also connects much faster when you open the app than it used to be but it works best on the 5Ghz band. Only issue is that it can only connect to the 5Ghz band if your router is using channels in the 36-50ish range. Anything higher and it'll stick with the 2.4Ghz band.

I've used this app for over quite some time, over a year, and have had no issues up until recently. I absolutely love the convenience of having this app to use as a remote since our remote gets lost all the time. It suddenly will not connect to the TV. I've Uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change. I am unsure of how to get assistance in resolving this issue.

This sucks. It won't find the TV no matter how many times I hit refresh, restart the WiFi, etc. I can't pair my phone so I can't use my TV's Smartcast feature. Either the TVs are a mess or the app is. Vizio needs to do something about it. I'd had this problem in the past when changing phones but never this bad.

This app has been good to certain reasons. You have to watch if you're not connected to Wi-Fi and do not have 2.4 and 5 for the frequency. This makes things complicated. The best way to log into it and setting it to your Google account. And there are certain TVs that will not work with this app. Everyone has their own opinions but does that is truly a blessing more times than not.! So if you're having issues please check into many different options that could be causing it.

Constantly disconnects from the TV even if you were just using it 5 minutes before, can have Bluetooth and wifi turned on at the same time for connection and it'll still fail. Never seems to be a fix for this. TV can be on and in use and it still won't connect to it. Ridiculous.

Vizio Elevate. Android app is non-functional. Same as it was one year ago. Soundbar also currently non functional, seems like a firmware problem receiving signal and a screw up with the aux VA system. Not a SINGLE firmware update pushed to my device in a year (and I check every day). Bugs everywhere. This was a very expensive product that could be truly exceptional if someone just took a look at the software and made ANY part of it work. (Smartcast works somewhat on iOS fwiw)

Perfect. My remote control gave out on me just this morning (due to the excessive amount of falls it encountered, unfortunately). I cannot afford a new cheap universal remote control from the store and so I have been trying different high rating apps for my vizio and none of them(no kidding) worked for s**t. Fortunately, I gave this app a shot, and little would you know, it did NOT even take more than 2 mins. Amazing.

The app connection to soundbar is garbage. So failing from the get go. Terrible connectivity arc to tcl. These tricks work sometimes: No volume? Make sure you adjust the volume on power up as soon as you see the soundbar volume indicator on the screen. Otherwise, it will not work. Volume no longer changing? Change to what you want. Mute, un mute. So glad we bought this soundbar. Keeping my brain active with these brain teasers while watching tv. Thanks Vizio.

Good luck trying to use this app to pair with a Vizio sound bar. I got to to work once with my elevate, then it would never connect again. I've even gone and done a factory reset on my elevate sound bar, and uninstalled the app. Now it won't even pair with the. Sound bar. If I'm lucky, I'll get about halfway through the pairing process before the app bugs out and loses connection.

Love the app, would have given it a five, except the primary problem I'm having is when I cast, the volume some times quits during a movie and I have to turn off the TV and restart it to get the volume back onto the TV. And like right now, I can't get the sound onto the TV at all. Though possibly my fault, trying to problem solve. Otherwise love the app.

Edited. Updates or fixes have apparently worked since my last original review years ago. App seems to work fine. I now have more control over my TV than the remote that came with the TV even gives. So it's a great help. Only thing I would change is making more defined buttons for up/down/left/right selector. It's too easy to miss the tiny arrows "select" something when you are just trying to "move" the cursor in a different direction.

Update 12/26/21: It's been two months and the search function is still broken. 10/26/21: I used to love using this app, but the search function is broken. On the main Browse page, there may be an ad for, say, The Voice that allows me to pull up The Voice directly on my Smartcast television, but if I were to search "The Voice" it'll say "no results for the voice" which I know is a lie. Y'all really have to fix this function as it leaves me with little reason to use the app otherwise.

This app NEVER worked. I got the crave 360 and I love the speaker. The app and connecting it and all the promises it made about how much you could control it has never worked properly. I at least use to get it to work once in a while but had to reset it, but now it's never connecting. I just want to walk in my room and use my phone to turn on the speaker without having to hold down that button to pair it every time I want to use it. VIZIO had potential, but you gave up.

The issue I have is when I go to add my Chromecast enabled sound bar to Google home, the Vizio app takes me through the TV setup and the "select device page" is blank and therefore I cannot complete the wizard so that way I can add it to speaker groups. I'm not setting up a TV and i'm trying to link from the Sound bar settings in the app. I did a factory reset and have the same issue.

Doesn't work. App connects to wifi, but won't connect to tv. Need to constantly restart the app for connection. If you manage to get it connected, you have about 15 seconds to make selection until it disconnects again and you need to start over. Takes 10 minutes of headache just to use it. The TV has dark spots right out of the box. Refuse to use this trash and will be returning my vizio tv. I'll never buy another product from them again.

The app is garbage. I was able to connect to my TV before but then had to call in for assistance since the firmware has not been updated in a long time and now I can't connect back to the TV through the app. I keep getting messages saying that the device can't be found or it can't connect. I also don't have The original remote so I purchased a vizio universal remote Which is also garbage that doesn't work either. On the flip side, their customer service team is very nice but unable to help

This sound bar and smartcast app have been nothing but a headache. My latest issue is that I have been trying for last couple of days to use the smartcast app and it will not connect to the sound bar. It says device not found. I have tried everything I can think of nothing works I called support they said I needed to update the firmware. The firmware will not load into the soundbar. And on top of that the display on the remote that came with the soundbar no longer works! So now it's useless.

The app had a lot of issues connecting to the soundbar. When it did connect, the sliders weren't easy to get the precise desired setting. Also, the app was missing a way to test or demo the Dolby Atmos surround speakers. I never heard the vertical surround audio during use. Maybe this was all a problem with the hardware. Who knows. I returned the product.

Setup and pairing is difficult, then it stops working. I have gone through the setup and registration multiple times. It will connect once, then it will fail to reconnect ever again unless I remove the device and go through setup once again. Given the other ratings, it seems there are a lot of compatibility issues and bugs never resolved. Disappointing.

The app itself is ok and has more options then a remote, but it's always crashing, and when it crashes it won't connect to my Vizio display and it doesn't give me the option to reconnect so I have to uninstall it and reinstall to get it to work again, wich is really annoying! Please fix this, I really like this app but it's hard to use in the sense that every day I have to get rid of it and reinstall it it's an annoyance, but still it beats remotes so I still recommend.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had with technology. This app NEVER works. Oh sure, if you're lucky to luck into it working for perhaps 5 minutes, maybe you can change the bass or subwoofer, but 5 minutes later it acts as if you've never connected to the soundbar before. And won't, anymore. Utterly terrible. I've had a few friends ask about buying this at Costco and I've warned them off. So there you go, Vizio. You've lost hundreds to thousands of dollars from possible customers.

I have 3 Vizio TVs- *reliable* ability to control them all from my phone would be great... too bad there's not an app for that. I've tried 3 different high end routers in combination with 3 different "flagship" android phone models and inevitably one (or more) devices disappears from the list or stops responding... force killing the app and restarting *sometimes* corrects the issues but usually I just have to go find the normal remotes or use the buttons on the back of the TVs to do anything...

I was content to consider this app a fairly mediocre utility to stand in for the physical remote when I couldn't find it. Sure, it would randomly fail to work on occasion until I did a soft reset and sure, it's missing features like keyboard input for apps like YouTube. I could still usually rely on it to stand in for the basics. Recently, however, some pointless update has rendered it incapable of controlling the volume. It seems to think it's changing some global volume value, but it isn't.

10/20/21 Update: Deleted app and reinstalled per Vizio's instructions. No change. TV doesn't connect to network. 10/18/21 Update: This app just gets worse. I managed to buy a P55-C1 back when vizio decided that full menu remotes were no longer necessary, so this network based app is my remote control, and it doesn't work. Somewhere along the line some change has been made to the app and it won't connect to my TV at all. This TV has great features that I can't use. No way to access the TV menu. Original review: Horrible replacement for a real TV remote. Worst idea Vizio ever had. After spending an hour pairing with the TV and trying to set up, it won't let me make audio changes. I have a great picture with no sounds and no way to turn on the TV speakers. I can make pic adjustments fine, but just get a connection lost message when I go into the audio settings. When my sound bar died this evening I thought I'd just turn on the TV speakers. Apparently not.

I've erased my previous review to give an update since Google only allows 500 words. I e downloaded the app again, for what seems like the 40th time. After taking a break for a few months, I thought surely there's been an update by now, right? One that will fix the bugs, right? Nope. My set up still gets stuck on the third step. The speaker keeps saying, "found", and the next icon on the screen does nothing when you touch it. It's a never ending loop.

My boyfriend & I have a big Vizio 4k TV. We love this app. If the remote is on his side of the bed, I don't have to get up I can just open this app. So far, I've had this app for a few months now, I've not had any issues at all. I can do everything the remote does on the app, except for having the easy Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube buttons that the actual remote has.

Set up doesn't work. Leads to dead end after dead end. Can't sync to soundbar even though it just said it was connected. Won't connect to wifi. Why even bother putting out a product if the app is completely useless? Hire some competent IT people for a start. Even trying to set this up caused problems to reverse. This app works the way it is supposed to. I can't pay it a higher accolade that is not redundant. Offers full control of the TV at your fingertips with a smartphone. It *sometimes* requires a little tech finesse, depending on the age of the tech you're playing with. The only true bug i have encountered is that the TV will turn back on if I turn it off with the app. Fix that and I will rate 5 stars. Updates are your friend =)

I've seen this app improve a lot after using it for a few years. A lot of functionality has been added. I have had issues with multiple users and initial wakeup due to Vizio's TVs not being reliably smart but overall it's a great way to keep the remote out of my livingroom where my toddler will eat it. I've had a good experience using this over WiFi. It actually is handy to launch straight into any apps. I love that I can change video settings on the fly without interrupting content much.

I've recently changed my wifi, and had to reboot the TV. After going through initial process with this app, then terms and conditions came towards the end. I could no longer control the TV with this app. I had to buy a TV remote to select agree. Now the app will not connect to the TV. And if it does, I can't control it.

This app is helpful since we lose our remote often but it's been buggy. About half the time the app works. Otherwise it doesn't respond and I have to turn the TV off and on (sometimes multiple times) and then it sometimes works. A lot of times I will just give up and cast instead. I'm not sure why it does this, but hopefully they can fix it soon with an update?

Awesome when it works. My kids are constantly losing or hiding the remote from each other, meaning that when I finally get the tv at night I have no remote. Directional keys are the worst! I have to uninstall and reinstall daily to have the best chance of it working. Fix that issue and I would still use this app over a remote. Great layout and easy to navigate. Just please fix the directional keys!!

Pros- Easy setup Basically self explanatory to use. Nothing fancy or difficult Con- The only buttons that actually work were the volume and mute button, menu, power, settings, input and the picture settings on the actual remote screen. None of the up, down, left or right buttons actually function on either remote screen. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall several times. Nothing worked. At the end of the day its not worth the hassle. If these problems were fixed I would definitely.

When it works its a fantastic app especially if you can't find the remote. That being said their are plenty of times I've tried using it and it would not show up or respond. Which kind of defeats the purpose of quick easy access especially if you can't find the remote. With a little fine tuning and 100% functionality at all times, this would probably be atleast top 5 in alternative phone oriented controls. I personally like it and would love it if it worked all the time.

The app isn't actually that bad but I wouldn't be rating it one star if there wasn't a problem. And oh boy is there a MASSIVE problem. All the buttons and features work EXCEPT the main directional buttons (up, down, left, right). Y'know, the ones you need to actually do anything on the TV. The middle / OK button works fine but the input for the directionals is either very small or nonexistent. Don't even waste your time with this app and just buy the $20 universal remote off Vizio's website.

Absolute trash. You're lucky if you can get your app to pair with your device on the 10th try despite spending at least a half hour the last time you used the app pairing and sorting out technical issues with the device. Vizio likes to claim that there's something wrong with your connection, but a quick internet serach will confirm it's an ongoing issue they refuse to fix. Do your best to get your settings right if you're able to get it to work; it might be your last shot at it for a while!

The volume controls are screwy. I turn it down and it slowly starts creeping back up. I watched the volume widget on my phone keep spontaneously opening without me touching it. Neither the volume controls on the app or physical volume buttons would respond, the only way to control the volume was too try to catch the widget when it opens and drag the volume bar down. And then listen to it increase on it's own again. I'll just use the remote that came with my sound bar, thank you very much

I've been using this app for the past two and a half years. I decided to write a review after having to Uninstall and Reinstall the app and pair my TV (in order for the app to do anything more than power my TV on) for what I would estimate to be approximately the 200th time and that's probably an underestimate. I literally have to do the Uninstall every other day. If it goes 4 or 5 days in a row working, my fiance and I get excited because its a new record for how long it worked. Junk!!!

It's unfortunate that this app is nothing short of useless. It seems like it might have potential of being nice if it actually you know...worked. It fails to recognize my Elevate sound bar... I've not been able to connect to it even one time. Thankfully the physical remote that came with the system is all I need to control everything. Otherwise I would have been pretty pissed about this lame excuse for an app.

This app sucks! I have to delete my tv from the app, and manually turn the tv off & on, just to change the station. It's connected to my wifi well enough to use the app for any tv settings (like soft reset & a/v controls). Then, it'll try sending a pin to the tv, get rejected, and say it's unable to pair with the tv. But, maybe one time out of twenty, or less, a pin will make it through. It's absurd. I lost the physical tv remote, and shouldn't have to buy another with this app installed.

Edit: Many moons later and the app has a new look but the same functionality issues. Why don't you work on improving the use before improving the interface? It's been up and down over the years. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Y'all need to fix the app, or give me a remote. My TV came without a remote with the promise the company provided an app, yet half the time I can only operate the TV by casting to it.

I always have to close the notification after exiting the app (press "back" twice). Since the last update, I have to do it only once. However, there is no reason to have to do it at all: If the app's not running, no need for a notification. I have disabled notifications as a result. Otherwise the on/off function works well enough as long as you have the TV unit itself setup properly. I haven't used any other feature in the app since I downloaded it.

Horrible !!!!! Out of ALL of the brands Inhad to choose from when moving into my new house,I went with getting 3 Vizios,in large part because of the smartcast descriptions. What A MISTAKE!!!! This app does not work ,abd will consume so much of your time trying to frustratingly get it to do so ,it's just easier to take them back and get a brand whose smartcast work. The same response to ALL of the reviewers same problem,uninstall ,reinstall does NOT work! Makes more sense to fix the App!

Terrible app, more than likely going to return this brand new Vizio Elevate as it cannot connect to the app where all the basic functionality for it resides. I have over a decade of experience in development and cloud architecture design. If I am frustrated with this app, you will be too. Its development was likely farmed out to the lowest bidder. Edit: After two days of trying to get the app to sync, it's confirmed: The app is dogsh-t. Return initiated. Great sound that you can't configure.

The app doesn't connect to my wifi, has a hard time finding the soundbar (Vizio 5.1.4) and when it does, it connects the first time but after that it never syncs again. I've reinstalled the app at least three times and everytime it works once and then it won't sync. When it worked, it was a good interface, pretty easy to change values on the bar. Whatever the problem might be, I hope it gets fixed because it's a wasted opportunity with a good app that doesn't work right.

Edit after developer response: I have uninstalled multiple times, on multiple devices (as I said), it doesn't work. The fact that I scrolled for 10 seconds and see over 90% of reviews also have 1 star ratings, leads me to believe you should just fix your app. Not sure what happened, but it just doesn't work barely anymore. Random things work like the menu or power button, but the arrows don't work at all. I've disconnected and reconnected several times, I don't know what the deal is.

Lots of extra stuff I have no interest in at all. Vizio sound bar frequently removes itself from network and reconnecting it through Vizio SmartCast is a lengthy, frustrating task which doesn't always work. 2 yr edit I've had this soundbar for over 2 years now. It still sounds very nice. It still disconnects from wifi occasionally. It then takes 30 minutes of trying to get it to reconnect, most of that just trying to get this app to work. Even basic remote actions don't work in the app.

When the app decides to communicate with the sound bar it's not bad, but a little slow. The problem is, it connects maybe 50% of the time. Only way to fix it is to reset everything, the sound bar, the app, everything and start from scratch like setting it up for the first time which takes a considerable amount of time, or just try again some other day. It's almost like they jury-rigged it it work with the sound bars as an afterthought.

Easy to use, but 90% of the time it won't launch any apps. Our TV came with the limited remote, that has limited functionality, so we have to use this app now that we shut off cable. It's awful. I spend more time trying to launch apps than actually watching TV. I was a huge fan and promoter of Vizio, but I will never buy another one of their products that doesn't have a fully functioning remote. Why is it that hard to include a remote, especially when you can't make an app that actually works?

I originally bought two because of the use and control from my phone. One of them no longer will connect from iPhone. It happened about a year ago and have went through several troubleshooting calls with no luck. I even bought a warranty but was told this issue had to be tracked down before I can go that route. So frustrating that the sound or any other app related settings are fine I can't access them.

This app is literal trash. It randomly disconnects from my devices, and re-pairing is always a pain. Re-connecting the devices to WiFi should take a matter of seconds, but for some reason my husband and I get "Unable to Connect" messages at least 10 times before taking the exact same steps and it miraculously workint (he has the Apple version of the app, so it's definitely not an Android issue). We're at the point that we're just going to shell out the $$ to re-brand our electronics.

The time lag connecting the remote and the tv is under a minute. Since it is not immediate, it seems too long. The app cannot replace the factory remote if the connection to wifi is lost. With a couple of more months of use, the bugs on my end were worked out. It works as well as a vizio stand alone remote. The operating footprint for the navigation arrows could be larger. The rating was increased to four stars.

Very slow when I'm wanting to turn the volume down. Sometimes, when I tap on the power button to turn it off, the TV fails to respond. But here's the most annoying part of this app: I swipe away the Visio bar in my phone's notifications drawer and five seconds later, it's back! I will never make the mistake of buying another Visio TV again...

This app almost never functions. It will not reliably connect to anything. I have completely removed and re-synced to my vizio elevate and P659-G1 at least once a day for the entire time I've owned them. Don't tell me to contact support. I'm well aware of how to troubleshoot my electronics. The app itself has base line functional failures. Whether it's a failure to be compatible with wifi 6(AX) or wpa3 network security. It is a failure.

Only works partially. It never fails, even after updates, that I for some reason can't use the arrows or OK button. Also, it's very strange that some apps it will work on, like Youtube or Netflix, but that greatly reduces what my kids are trying to watch. I have to rely on this app because the remote is getting lost or hidden all the time, and it's just an added stress.

This app is a tremendous pain. When it works, it's a nice alternative to the remote and I appreciate seeing the audio levels, but set up is so time consuming and often fails. This app won't connect at all on my husband's phone, and the speaker set has disconnected multiple times since we bought the set last November. We have the Elevate speaker set and I honestly use the remote 9 times out of 10 because the app is so bad. The only settings I still go to the app for are qualizing and night mode.

The first time i installed, it worked. For a bit. Then it locked up. When i got it to respond, it wouldn't influence the tv at all. I deleted and reinstalled. The new install tells me, when i select the tv, it can't connect to my sound bar. I don't even have a sound bar. After issues with the tv, then the remote, and now this junk piece of code, i don't expect to buy visio ever again. I'd rather pay twice the money and have a tv i can just simply watch without bull stuff.

This app has worked flawlessly for me. No connection issues, everything that I've tried to do/use has worked, and it has many, many different functions. My tv appeared to have frozen yesterday, and all I had to do was open this app and go to "soft power cycle" and it immediately restarted the tv. Being able to have favorite apps makes it extremely quick and easy to open an app. Simply press apps on the main screen and then press on whichever app.

After dev. response, no change: Absolutely worthless. About half the time it requires resetting the TV for it to work. Half the remaining time it doesn't work. When it does work, it takes over 30 seconds to connect to the TV and takes several seconds to transmit each action. The UI is split into two screens that make no sense and requires constant flipping between the two to perform simple tasks. The "app" access is laughable and all it does is start the app on the TV after way too many clicks.

Awful. I have a Vizio MD-550 TV less than 5 years old, and it’s ability to connect to wireless networks appears to have died, rendering the TV nearly useless. I’m completely unable to connect to other devices, including the SmartCast app on either iOS or Android devices. But even at the best of times, this app takes 15 seconds to find a Vizio device (I also have a Vizio soundbar), and success perhaps 20% of the time. I bet I have reconnected my devices to the SmartCast app a good 25 times.

The idea is great but the results are trash. Sound bar doesn't connect to Google home or the app, never. Bought a Vizio TV, doesn't connect. I have to turn on using the controller or the physical buttons on the device then open the app. What's the point of the app if I still need the controller. Don't buy Vizio products expecting them to work as advertised. My phone cannot connect to any of their products, works fine with competitors products. Lesson learned

Okay when it works, but it frequently doesn't. It has a hard time launching apps and sometimes just stops working altogether. I have to get up and turn off the TV, then force close the app before it works again. The navigation buttons are also very small, and it will frequently think I'm selecting something when I'm trying to swipe away from it.

App works only the first time after being plugged in, then it stops working after your phone is disconnected from wifi. Ie. You leave your house. It only works again after I both reset my phone and the TV. Super frustrating. Even wielder, the voice functions still work and setting still work so its connected to the TV! It just doesn't allow use of the remote/ quick app start menus. Please fix and I will change to 5 stars.

Using with a soundbar. Works sporadically. It's nearly impossible to get this thing to connect for the first time. I hooked it up to two different setups and it took over half an hour each time. I have no idea what the winning combination was because it just randomly starts working after about 20 attempts. once you get it hooked up the screens lag and the controls tend to reset themselves. The product itself sounds nice but this app is nearly worthless.

The reason i got this app was for a replacement remote for my TV, to replace the one which I had lost. However, the remote does not control anything on the main screen, Disney+, or any system menus, it won't turn the TV power on, and it cannot change the input, and for the few things it does functionally do, it does almost an entire minute later than when I pressed the button. Very unhappy.

Works great most of the time! I love this app and think it works great with easy to figure out functionality!! The one issue I have with it is if the tv is not already powered on it won't work because it has to be putting out a signal for the remote control to work because it has to reconnect EVERY TIME!!! Other than that I love it, especially for a free app!!!

I don't have too many issues with the app, biggest 2 are sometimes you can't get the notification widget to go away, but my biggest annoyance is that they took out the tv power state feedback. It used to gray out the "remote" when the tv was powered off. Now it doesn't change state, so if you're not in the same room you really have no idea if the tv is off or on.

Fantastic! (Most of the time) This app is quick with the way it connects to my TV and the recent change to the UI makes being able to control every aspect of my TV really easy. It's only two flaws I have are these: A volume problem just makes that pressing my phone's buttons sometimes change the TV volume drastically too much. And a connection issue that my phone tends to forget my TV (I think its a Internet connection issue) and I to reset the app's data in order to then reconnect and fix it.

Love the idea of this app, but.... The app stops controlling the TV every few hours. The best fix for that has been to force stop the app and open it back up. Good as new. I find the browse for movies and shows to be very nice. But the list of streaming services that can play the media is rarely an up-to-date, complete list of services. Mainly, Netflix is never listed.

This "app" can be described quite simply as garbage. The actual design of the "app" is the most unintuitive of any I've seen. The layout is like a guessing game or a puzzle with dead ends everywhere. This could almost be forgiven if not for the important fact it cant stay connected or connect with the device when you need it so that you can at least feel like you are making progress. I'm forced to use the "app" because trying to decipher a series of white lights on the soundbar is even worse

Loses connection to my TV constantly and the only way to fix that is to delete and reinstall the app. I count on the app because the physical remote is so finicky. The app is great when it actually works, but I'm having to reinstall it multiple times a day. UPDATE: The app has updated and is now worse. Can't use selection buttons at all and have to cast everything from my tablet to the TV because I can't select anything from the TV.

The app has a habit of randomly working. It will let me switch between remote, apps, and browse, but often wont let me turn the tv on with the remote. I can sometimes click on apps which will turn the tv on, but when i go back to use the remote to turn to turn down the volume, that wont work either. Then the input wont work and the power button wont work. This is all while using my phone as the remote. Using the actual remote is no problem at all doing these things.

Horrible. The app updated, I noticed that it was no longer controlling the television as it used to. I searched the help pages, found what I thought was useful information, but it seems to be a lie because I can't get the television to connect with my phone. If I could give the app zero stars, I would do it. Maybe you guys should leave stuff alone, it was working prior to the update. Probably will never even attempt to figure this out again, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app 10 times. Trash.

This app is just okay, not great; it works, but not super well. There are additional settings you can only make in the app and not with the remote, which makes it useful. However, it's very laggy, and takes a long time to connect, occasionally not connecting and blaming it on my network (sound bar is Ethernet, my phone is wifi, router is 5 feet from my couch, so it's definitely not my network). Making adjustments on the fly is difficult because of the lag, I do wish they would improve this.

This app is truly awful. Half the time I can't connect, and even when I can half of the controls don't actually work. I can control volume and settings, but navigating through apps usually doesn't work. Or it takes a random amount of power cycling for both the app and TV itself. It's so frustrating to have to fight to just have something on.

The app works good. Has everything you need to get around and control the TV. The control pad accidently opens apps at times. Would be better with up and down arrow keys. Update; I recently updated the app and hardly anything worked I had to go to a website and download an older version to get stuff to start working again the input didn't work, the speaker up and down did not work, half of everything on there did not work.

It's okay for what it is, but it has much to improve upon, especially after using the Roku TV app. It does the basics fine, like launching apps or changing the volume, but it lacks in complete functionality. I often find that one day, certain settings will be there (eg. HDMI 2.1 or 1.4 settings) and gone the next with no rhyme or reason. It also takes FOREVER to sync with the sound bar for settings. The design refresh is ok, but leaves a lot to be desired.

The latest update changed the format of the remote. While this used to be quite easy to use, lately it's been an unmitigated disaster. Being able to go down particularly is super touchy. If you change it so it looks like the remote it's slightly easier to control. However, it was way more user friendly and way less glitchy before the update. Neither my husband nor I are fans and we have two different mobiles. Can you change it back... please?

Functionality is not there, it connects to the TV easily when on the same network. You can open apps through the menu on the phone, but the directional pad does not work on the home screen even after the latest update. It works in Netflix and YouTube, but not newer apps like Disney+. Just repeating, this does not work on the vizio menu screen itself, only in certain apps, which is just crazy.

I use this app for controlling my sound bar. The latest update removed all of the fine tuning controls, such as balance, subwoofer, surround sound and so forth. It's really limited function now with just basic volume control and not much of an improvement over the nearly useless remote that comes with the speaker. I'm disappointed.

This app is absolute trash. I am unable to fully utilize the 36" 5.1 sound bar without accessing the app each time I watch something or, in fact, change content at all. Had I known about this issue I would not have purchased the sound bar. I would never recommend this app or sound bar to anyone, I would actually discourage anyone from purchasing them. I would give fewer than one star of I was able.

App used to be great. It wouldn't connect to the tv anymore, so I had to uninstall and reinstall, and it updated during that time. Now, I cant adjust the brightness like I used to. I also cant set a sleep timer anymore, which is the main reason why I had the app, because the remote that came with the tv did not give me that option. The menu button on the app doesnt work. Please fix this. The app is pointless when half of it doesnt work. I miss the old app set up. This one is more confusing.

What the heck happened in this update. Now there are not dedicated buttons for picture or access menu. Now you ave to access a picture of the actual remote to get to those functions. The remote view doesn't even fof the screen. What a weird and less useful execution. Since it still has the connection issues, it is knocked down to a single star now. Good job Vizio

It isn't bad. It works well, and has the menu options I would like. My phone doesn't vibrate with every input so it is hard to tell if it takes the input. And there is lag. I am not sure if it is my device, the t.v., or the network if it uses it. I use an S10 phone, and my network is around 200megabytes download. So I am guessing the app optimization or the t.v. doesn't have the process power.

I liked the app prior to the recent changes. The remote option is neat but the options to have the same options as what we see on the TV need to be back. I sometimes turn the brightness of the TV down at night and now it takes forever to do, before I could just use my finger to quickly move the slider up or down. I think it was more user friendly before this update.

Often I have the issue where the app either can't find the TV or it is buggy and won't be able to control the TV even though it is connected. This reflects as much on the TV as it does the app since the app on your phone is the remote. After the Nov 16 update the remote got even worse! So much lag, even if I turn the TV on and off or reset the internet, it doesn't matter it lags bad like 2 seconds beging a button press and if you want to change the input it only lets you change one at a time!

New version is very very bad. Even though it shows connected, nothing happens on the tv when actions are performed in the app. I have uninstalled and cleared cache multiple times to no avail. Way to ruin a perfectly working application. I loved the ease and functionality of the old version, not sure why so much was changed in the supposed 'upgrade'. I wish i had auto updates disabled.

Very very very slow. I'm running this on a Samsung galaxy note 10 plus with around a 100 mb download speed. So its not the phone. Its the app. Needs optimization. Rarely do the surround sound speakers actually work. Subwoofer fails to stay connected. Sound bar randomly turns on and off. Paid about 250 for the sound bar and sub with left and right surround speakers. I've never felt so ripped off.

I'd give it a 0 if I could. It is the most poorly designed app I've ever seen. I can quickly and easily do everything....ACCEPT MOVE AROUND MY DAMN SCREEN!! Luckily I can adjust volume and change input.....too damn bad I can't navigate to Netflix or change what the hell I'm looking at. Design sucks and whoever thought it was a good idea sucks. My god, it's 2020, you have no damn excuse.

This app and the entire Vizio Smartcast system is a compete piece of #$^!. Unfortunately, if your reading this, you've already bought the TV and are trying to set it up. If you can, return it and get something better. Like many others have said, the smartcast app will not remain connected to the TV and the only way to reconnect is to reset everything to the factory default. Absolute garbage.

Not a day goes by where it fails to locate my devices, fails to visibly name them properly, and in many cases, like today, doesn't let me into the settings such as picture from the app, but will still be partially connected allowing me to control volume, input, and on off state. I have had many versions of tv, and still have friends with other versions and the problem persists across the board, across all types of wifi. Fast, slow, wifi 5, 6, etc

It's handy for those times you lose the main remote. However, it would be nice be able to power on the TV using the app as it sometimes doesn't work from a cold start up. The TV has to be powered on before it can work. In a way It sort defeats the whole purpose of even using it. Other then that, everything else is pretty solid.

This is a terrible app because it is nearly impossible to get it to connect to Vizio devices. In the off chance that you do manage to get it to connect, don't get too excited, because it will soon lose connection and you will not be able to get it to reconnect without deleting all app data, uninstalling the app, completely resetting your Vizio device, and then downloading the app and starting from scratch. Developers, you are absolutely terrible at your jobs. Please do us all a favor and quit.

VIZIO SmartCast is absolute trash. Constant errors, terrible setup process, just really bad software. This is coming from someone who has set up numerous audio system, TVs, networks, and Smart Homes for clients, family, etc. Vizio hardware (TVs, soundbars) are great products, especially quality for the price. But use them for the hardware only and you won't be disappointed. If Smart Software features like this are equally important to you then 100% go with a different brand.

Endless frustration. Vizio soundbars are incredibly finicky, and most of the time you can't cast anything to the device through wifi; only Bluetooth. That would be okay, but wifi sound quality is far superior when it works. But setting it up is like rolling dice - you do the same thing over and over until you get the results you were hoping for, but next time you go to use it, you may need to set it up all over again. I just don't find this user friendly at all.

Not happy. At all. When it works, it's actually not bad. But it drops connection to my bar on a REGULAR basis. It's never kept connection longer than a week. I have to re-establish it regularly. It seems like every time I need the app, it's forgotten the bar again, while makes it more is a nuisance than a convenience since I have to set it up again. And that really sucks, considering you need the app for the "good" settings. Please try harder, Vizio.

The UI is laggy, many options are hidden and available only in context, making the interface obnoxious to navigate and learn. You never know if features are bugged, lagging, or just not active in a given state. Its annoying to use, and overall frustrating. I'm almost to the point of regretting the purchase - spending another $500 for a Samsung would have been an easy decision, if not for the in-menu ads everywhere. I'd never bother with the app, if not for the ability to turn on the TV in ECO.

Doesn't work. Can not switch inputs with the app. It randomly switches inputs, so the sound just goes out. I check the app and sure enough it's randomly switched the input to "optical" or something like that. And I can not switch the input Beckwith the app. So,, I have to push the button on the sound bar and that usually doesn't work either. I have to restart the TV and sound bar about every other time I turn it on. It often takes 15 minutes of work to get sound.

Didn't work for me. I've also been having major problems with my Vizio TV in general. It no longer responds to the original remote, and it's constantly turning itself off. Volume also spontaneously decides to readjust itself... which is really fun when I'm the only one awake in the house at 3am and it kicks up to 100, and I've literally gotta run across the room to turn the TV off because of course, they don't put any useful buttons on these things anymore. 😑

The remote broke three times and my warranty is now up. So this is my only option and the TV doesn't respond half the time. I can only use the directional touch pad in Netflix. I literally will not work anywhere else so I have to select the app to even bring it up. I can't watch any other app or use any features. Highly dissatisfied with the poor quality of the remotes. I also didn't mention my TV turns on randomly with a black screen playing something in Spanish. This app is just as bad.

The sound bar is probably OK, but the sound bar remote is hard to read and has limited functionality. The Smart Cast with cell is fine when it works, which is about 70% of the time. I'm using Android with Galaxy S10e and it looses contact with the soundbar and it's impossible to reconnect. I've used the sound bar for two-three months and lost the connection at least three times. I now have no contact after downloading SmartCast and trying three times. I'm just about ready to dump Vizio, yet I don't know if I can trust any other brand. Reminds me of the old days in software, everything works as claimed "Not exactly".

This app got a lot better since a few years ago. Before everything was slow to load and connect and just getting to the remote part of the tv you were trying to control took entirely too long. Now it's like night and day. The app works flawlessly. Every time I open from scratch it takes a few seconds to load and then boots me directly into the remote of the tv I am near. It's so much better this way I couldn't be more happy with the back end improvements.

This app has been a horrible experience for me. It always kicks me off. Now it wont cast any of my hulu when before it would just fine. I have to reload the app multiple times and even then it doesn't work and I have to do it over again and again. Glitches during my shows or just stops for no reason. The one positive is the remote that is it! I would never by a vizio product again I would take it back but it was a gift😡

It paired to my TV very easy. I was shocked after I read the reviews! Only the TV buttons worked, like input and TV menu. I couldn't go to 'WATCHFREE' or move up and down from the main screen menu. I could sign into Netflix using the 'app'. When I select ok it just took me back to the home screen. (It was already on the account I wanted. I didn't need to try to move to another one.) It just doesn't work. Not at all... Bummer. I had high hopes.

Loading the app and pairing the tv was very easy and fast on three different phones. I like to use the app better than the physical remote, perhaps from time to time there are hiccups with the app. It looks like Vizio still has some work to do. I wish the buttons on the app were the same as the buttons on the remote, also all the favorites were in the same place. In other words the app should be more user friendly. I really like the mirroring feature.

I think the app works pretty well ad intended. It does everything that my remote does. I also see people posting about how they can't turn on their TV, etc. There is a setting on the TV that enables a type of stand by mode. This had to be on to use the full functionality. This keeps the tv connected to wifi when it's off and allows the app to work to it's full potential.

After pairing both my Visio TVs, this app is rarely able to tell I have one powered on. Turn one on? Has yet to happen once. I'm still amazed with how good the TVs can be and how completely awful the app has been and remains to be. I hoped it would get better, but it looks like they just don't care. I occasionally try to use this every few months, guess what, it still doesn't work. They should probably hire someone who knows what they're doing...Update 6/29/2020 Still the same issues.

Absolutely complete garbage. Unless it's the soundbar itself, which would be even worse. Can't connect w wifi OR bluetooth. Useless. Update: continuously loses connection with device. In fact, now it won't even recognize/communicate with my TV at all. Even after redoing setup from scratch. The second it finishes, it suddenly says the device is no longer available & the TV resets and goes to the 'Cast' screen. Vizio has proven to me once and for all that they are complete rubbish/waste of money.

It's been very reliable. I lost my remote so this is awesome. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but the vcast (or whatever it's called) menu screen has worked everytime I've used phone remote. Usually, when using the regular remote it's been very hit/miss if the vcast menu was going to be displayed. It's incredibly annoying when you want to watch something other than the few streaming services on remote itself. One suggestion, please add pause/play to "quick menu" on phone.

It's just...not good. Vizio thought that they were changing the game by making this a Chromecast display. But in reality, they added a bare bones, barely intuitive remote and rely on your smart phone or tablet to do the heavy lifting. There's a lot of input lag and overly confusing layout choices here, even with updates. Would've preferred that the display I bought hadn't been advertised as "smart". I use it primary for video games at this point because there's not much else that works right.

The app is almost useless. For the past year i havent been able to connect my tv to it. It always says it cant find device. I update it today and it finally found my tv. I go into the controls and the gestures are horrible. It can only swipe down. Stop trying to be fancy and just make buttons I can tap because these swipe down, up, left, right gestures don't work! What's the point of using my phone to Iaunch an app if I can't scroll once the app is on my tv! Now I have to use my remote, no point

I'm about to purchase a remote for my tv because this app sucks so much. Everytime I try to watch any streaming service (Hulu, Netflix, etc.) It CONSTANTLY freezes. Then sometimes the app will stop working completely. Occasionally it also won't even let you click onto an app because there's "an issue" yeah. The only way to resolve any issue on this thing is to uninstall and reinstall the app. I find myself needing to do it about 2-3 times a day at this point.

Does not properly sync with my soundbar. Zero intelligence built into the app to self correct errors. I had to figure out on my own that the device wouldn't connect to a 5Ghz radio, would have been nice if the app recommended to check that. The MAIN problems lie in leveraging the app during initial setup of a new device. Frequently, the device doesn't select the right audio input and I'm forced to manually select. That works sometimes, frequently it doesn't, and I'm forced to re-select.

I'm a big Vizio fan, but unfortunately, every soundbar with smartcast is sorely lacking. I'm not sure if it's the app or the device itself or both. As for the app, it's not intuitive and many setup steps are ambiguous, especially when connecting to Chromecast for the first time. After setup, connection is always faulty. For example, as of this posting, i can no longer connect to my soundbar via the Smartcast app.

Every since I bought my smartcast tv, this app has sucked. I lose the connection to the TV and soundbar nearly everytime I opened the app. Now, I can't even get the app to work. I try to connect to the internet and it fails. You may as well get up and walk across the room and use the buttons on the TV, than this app! It's easier and faster, everytime!

I like the app idea and its executed well for most features. I haven't had any problems with connectivity like most people. The only issue that I have is try to navigate and select specific apps, buttons, etc. The navigation pad with swipe gestures and tapping to select doesn't work. Other than switching inputs, this app has been mostly useless for me. Please just add dedicated buttons for navigation!

Coming from a Roku TV that was more than half the price. This application is unintuitive, hard to navigate and just plain lazyily made. Also casting from your phone doesn't work well, your phone disconnects from the TV making you have to reconnect and lose your spot in whatever you were watching. Ugh.. I won't be buying another Vizio TV, that's for sure.

The app is broken. I can't do anything on it. I can't access the input page. I can't navigate. I can't change channels or adjust volume. It no longer recognises my tv, even after going through set up steps and it telling me "setup complete" with a little green check. The only thing that works is the on/off button. What HAPPENED? It was working fine before and now it's useless. And judging by the other reviews, I'm not the only one experiencing issues, yet Vizio appears not to care. FIX IT.

Worked great until the last update. With the last update it lost my watchlist and favorites. Most functionality of the app was lost. My old phone has a prior version. It works fine. I found a prior apk via Google. Installed it and everything is back even favorites and watchlist which were missing. I contacted support two times. Too long of a story for here. I like the app. When it works it's 5 stars. Now, I turned off auto update.

Can't get my TV pair with this app. Yes, I tried all the hard rebooting, uninstalling, resetting possible. TV is connected to wifi and so is the phone. It doesn't make sense. A quick Google search shows it's a common problem. I do remember that I had this same issue 3 years ago with my boyfriend's Vizio. I would have thought this would have been fixed by now.

Pretty good but could be better. Not sure why on the remote control you have to keep flip flopping back and forth between the 2 screens... seems like they could have designed it to have only one screen. Plus the controls are not intuitive ... would be nice to have small labels under each control. But it is really nice to be able to control your Vizio Smart TV via this app. I do like that a lot!

Useless. Our Vizio sound bar used to connect to the network. When it stopped after the power went out once, had to reconnect with the new app. Sure, it can find the device, can get on the sound bar's own wifi to set it up, can hear the sound, but when you hear the sound and have to hit Next, it just doesn't register. Nothing happens. It's like the button isn't even there. So try again via Bluetooth. Just as useless.

My app used to work great but for a couple weeks I haven't been able to connect to the soundbar. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app, removing and re-adding the device, since removing the device it shows able to connect to the app but I cannot get past step 2, I can hear the beeps but it won't let me hit "next." Super frustrated.

Extremely difficult to set up, cust svc was of no help, and online searches found no documentation. I'm very tech savvy, having worked with computers for more than 30 yrs, have several devices (laptop, desktop, tablet, smart phone, Amazon echo, smart plugs/lights/camera, etc.) connected to my home network, and this was by far the most difficult to get connected to my Video SB3651-E6. It took numerous attempts, resetting, relinking, powering on/off, unplug/replug, etc, to finally get it to work.

I love Visio products and our home is full of them but I have to honestly say this app sucks, bad. It won't accept my agree button presses for the different portions and very few buttons actually work. I can turn off my TV but it won't turn it on is one example. Oh, and WHY is it so often telling me it can't connect with my server? My server is fine! I'm getting rid of what could be a good thing but it is not. It just sucks. You seriously need to try again from the start...

There is very little positive to say. Pairing is not clear, and rarely worksn first try. It constantly disconnects and doesn't seem to be able to turn on the device so it's kind of useless. You may as well use the supplied remote (which isn't great). I'm not sure Chromecast is altogether that useful with a soundbar. It gives options to play things, but I could do that from the other app. When it does connect, it's a little easier to assist bass and treble.

I really love this app! Half the time I can't find the TV remote but this one works Perfect on my Vizio. I like it better than using the real remote. My only gripe is that there are no dedicated "app" keys on it such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Crackle, or let's say a third screen where you could define some of your favorite ones. At least 5 or 6. My real remote has 6 on it. I use only 2 of them. Couldn't believe one wasn't Hulu. That was my reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

Recent updates have been solid. I use this app on the provided tablet for my P-Series TV as my only remote. There was a stretch a year or so ago where the controller functionality was completely busted (after an update... things were working fine originally). I just want to give the team working on this app credit for finally fixing all those crippling bugs and even improving performance. Things have been working perfectly for at least 6 months at this point, so thank you for your hard work.

The app work fine for 6 months then they decided to update it and now it doesn't work at all. Great. I guess it would work fine if I went out and bought a new TV every 6 months. I bought a 70 inch TV 6 months ago and the app and casting worked perfectly fine. They updated it and because it doesn't have Bluetooth... screw you! Now it doesn't work anymore.

The app simply doesn't perform the functions as advertised. Before the update the tv used to be able to cast but always lost connection within 30 seconds. But now, I can't even link the tv up to the wifi within the app to cast videos. It seems that I have not been the only one with this issue. Why hasn't Vizio responded this issue? Is there something wrong with the customer service department or just the corporation in general?

The worst thing I did when installing this Vizio sound system was downloading this app. After installation, the sound system automatically connected and worked off the existing remote. Now, after attempting to connect through the app, the sound system won't work with the TV. The set up on the phone keeps stalling or failing. What. The. Heck.

Awful app. The keypad never works when I go to type in passwords or email addresses. The touch screen to navigate left, right, up, down never works really well either. I've updated the app and tried a different phone. Still the only thing that seems to work right is being able to select the app you want from the menu. Was really rooting for Vizio, but this app is truly disappointing.

This app freezes at every possible chance, makes you repeat steps for no reason, gives you no feedback as to what it's doing while it is working, and to top it all off, the remote widget doesn't work. Buggy and slow, I'll just use the included remote. Update: it still doesn't control the sound bar even though it claims it is paired. I cannot dismiss the widget in my notifications panel even when I close the app. My girlfriend had a different set of problems, but no less troubling. Buggy app.

Connects and works okay. UI looks good, but I lost ability to change inputs in the latest update, there is a highlighted bubble, but no text and no option to click anywhere. I also get anomalies in the live TV tab when trying to look at the tv guide. If I click it right away, it shows the channels and times, but no shows or information. If I scroll down a little, then hit the guide button, it's a blank screen with a loading pinwheel.

Vizio has great visuals and sound for the money. However, the software is by far the most useless thing they have 'never' created. I bought a TV and it is great, but it had weird issues which seemed like hardware but I think was tweaking software and the app worked at one point, but now it doesn't at all. I also bought a Atmos soundbar. App doesn't work. Won't let me use Google assistant anymore. TL;DR spend the extra money on anything not Vizio.

Swipe and tap to select doesn't work. I recently lost my tv remote and thought this would be a good replacement. Unfortunately the swipe and tap to select is completely non functional on all screens. I thought it might just be an issue with hulu, but it doesn't even work on smartcast. The only functions that work are the volume, menu, and power buttons. This is a terrible app.

Nothing but trouble every time I try to use it or reconnect my phone and tv. Update: This app and the tv remote are completely useless to me! It has never been able to connect via bluetooth. I once got it to correct via wifi. My router has since been changed and the tv won't even detect a wifi signal now, so I can't connect to my phone. Also there is no menu button on my remote, so I can't even look for a network with the tv to get it to connect to my phone.

It would be fine if it just had directional arrows instead of the stupid slide pad, and if all the controls were on a single-screen so you didn't have to flip between screens to perform basic tasks. There are several other Vizio remote apps in the app store, all of which work much better but are plagued with excessive advertisements, most of these just mimic the Vizio remote on the phone screen and give you a keyboard. Why this app can't just do that is beyond me.

This app is truly awful. More often than not, it cannot find the speaker even while it is actively casting. After finding the speaker, it will suddenly lose it for no reason. Changes made to settings take several seconds to be applied to the speaker, if they're even made at all. If you use the app on multiple devices, you have to go through the set up in each device; apparently it cannot detect a speaker that had already been set up to cast on another device (on the same network).

It's a very good app. It does exactly what it says it does, True to form. I have no complaints. Although, I have one suggestion to help functionality. That is putting a volume control button on every screen so you don't have to press the back button to go from where you're at scrolling through let's say YouTube to adjust the cuz let's just face YouTube definitely has a volume regulation problem from one video to the next you're like a 5 during one vid & the next video is at a 30 in volume.

Good app but lacking functionality. Needs a way to jump forward or backward when using a USB stick as a music source. It would also be nice if it read the music titles to the app. It's also very annoying that it doesn't remember the position it was playing from when it's restarted. When it restarts it always goes to the first song. I have over 24 hrs. Of music and I don't want to start always in the same place.

This app is a better, visual way, on controlling the sound levels for the soundbar, than the actual soundbar remote, when the app wants to work. For the past couple months the app stops working, stops connecting to the soundbar, now it won't connect at all. I've tried restarting my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, nothing is working. Vizio really needs to fix this. What's the point on promoting an app to control the sound levels for the soundbar if it doesn't work most of the time??

This app is barely functional, otherwise I would give it 1 less star. The app crashes the first time I open it every time, and takes several attempts to find the TV. Today I lost the remote to the TV, and the app decided it couldnt connect anymore despite being connected literally hours before, so there is no way to power the TV on(what kind of manufacturer produces a TV without any power button?!). Just including a physical power button on the TV would have saved me hours of time. Frustrating.

So I feel like the instructions where bit lacking. Or there is an issue of compatibility for example. What then are the steps or options available. Along with how to do those possibilities of need be. Other than that once it is going and one has a grasp.Then yes, it is an excellent feature broadening capability...

This app is horrible and barely functional. Power button takes multiple presses to actually turn the TV off. When I cast, the volume is buggy, so when I try and adjust the volume, it resets the volume to some random level (that j wasn't even on) and then goes from there. So I'll be watching at say 40, then I'll try and turn it up, and it'll reset to like 10 and turn up from there. The app takes an obnoxious space in the notification tray, and just overall is very buggy.

Horrible App. Horrible customer service. The app has two options to set up the soundbar to your phone. Blue tooth or wifi. The blue tooth would connect, then the app would say it disconnected because it couldn't pull my location. App settings show full access to location and everything else too. Wifi set up only found guest networks in the neighborhood. Called tech support, they did just what the manual says, and we got the same results. They finished by saying it was my phone's problem. Lame.

What a piece of junk!!! I ran the set up this to my TV 3 different times. Every time I connected it ran updates. I Completed the set up 3 times Then it would say you're all set. OK then I go to cast something to the TV and the app can't find the TV that I just connected it to. And the tv that I connected to is on the pull down list. Still won't connect, I'm 2 feet from the tv. Then it wants to run the set of all over again. Ran it 3 times that's enough. Don't waste your time with this app.

The apps is inconsistent about recognizing my TV. And, there are no arrow/direction keys or buttons I have been trying to use it for several days, but with no progress. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tonight it worked/stayed connected longer than usual, but after 10 minutes, when I tried to edit audio settings, I received a message that my TV was not recognized.

Smart is the last word I would use to describe this app. Setting up a device on this is an utter nightmare. Slow, laggy, erratic, and dumb as a rock, this app can't even find a soundbar over Bluetooth when the soundbar is already connected via Bluetooth. Just because you can make an app doesn't mean you should.

It's been a few years of this getting worse with every update. The focus is on the TV experience and adding new features for marketing. It has been almost two years since I could change audio settings via the app and the settings through the TV don't save. Others have the same issue. Super old chromecast version on the TV that doesn't work much of the time. Had to buy a second chromecast since the TV and app have basically been abandoned by Vizio.

Every time I open the app for the first time it closes right away making me reopen it again. Then it takes about a minute to be able to click the buttons to navigate my tv. Sometimes I have to go into devices and manually select my only tv over again. If you're looking for convenience just stick to the physical remote. This app makes a 5second process into a 2 minute ordeal to just turn on your tv. Please fix these issues. There's good potential here.

This is the worst f'n app I have ever seen!!! I used it to set up my TV and it ended up rendering my normal remote non functioning. I then spent over an hour restting the TV and the app to try and get them to sync so I could reset everything and have control over the TV. Every time it said it was paired, it would lose connection and I had to start over. I will never use this app again!

This app is absolutely horrible. I absolutely love the TV and the TV interface is completely accessible with screen reading technology for the blind. However I was like oh cool can't wait to try the app and once I downloaded it there is not one thing that is accessible to the TalkBack or voiceover screen readers on mobile devices. It's pretty much useless

My remote quit working so until the manufacturer could send a new one I have to use this app.I like the app however I do not feel it is user friendly. it took me awhile to figure out how to go to Netflix, hulu, etc and get around in those with the controller in the app. I didn't expect the volume to be where it was and the symbols that it is so that was a little frustrating, but once I figured it out it wasn't bad. I can at least watch tv until my new remote arrives.

I do not like this app overall. My biggest issue is, we turn on the tv, then later try to adjust the volume, the app has to be closed and opened again before the controls will work. The notification bar on the lockscreen doesnt work most of the time and I have to close the app to get the functions back. So, if you lose your remote, like we did, this app will do the job. It just comes with added frusteration and hassle. Find a different app..

This used to work great for me, but lately i can no longer get the app to connect with my TV. I have the latest app but it gets stuck at the "Connect with Wi-Fi" screen and i can't get past it. as a result i can no longer use this app to control the TV. Firmware of the TV is the latest, I believe (2.0.17). I'm trying to do a factory reset of the TV to fix the Chromecast functionality but can't because I can't use this app to control the TV. Any Help Would Be Appreciated.

When it works, it's good enough. Every 3rd or 4th time I try to adjust volume or change the channel, I have to close and reopen the app. When I want to control the show (rewind, etc.), the control panel switches from the touch screen I've grown used to to one that I find totally useless but that seems redundant and appears randomly. In sum, this remote is unreliable, not intuitive, and finicky to use. Better options exist.

This app works well to control the TV, which, as simple a thing as that seems, a lot of companies screw up (looking at you, Toshiba). There is just one thing I really dont like about it and that is that it opens "discover" view by default instead of the "control(remote) view." Not a huge deal, but it is annoying, since I have this app purely to use as a second remote when the kids lose the main one or the volume gets crazy. A preference setting for default view would be great.

This app won't recognize my WiFi network- the very same network my TV, streaming services, and EVERY device in my home uses. Can't even get thru set-up. This renders the app absolutely useless. Too bad because using the remote that came with my Vizio TV is an exercise in frustration. And streaming via the "smart TV" apps is glitchy at best. I'd hoped to cast to the TV with this app. Nope. So far nothing beats Chromecast for streaming... which is what I will stick with from now on. Uninstalled.

It was great when we first got the TV, but has progressively gotten worse. I dont think I'll be getting another Vizio after this unless they do something to fix this. After the update they puched to either the app or the TV last week, we can't cast any more. But they gave is a very low res version of Pluto: looks like a worn out VHS tape. This sucks.

Bought a new TV a few months ago. Everything (casting, remote, set up, etc...) was a breeze. Just upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy 10 plus and everything connected but the remote does not have the arrow up/down/right/left so I cannot access many of TV's features. Used to also have peal remote (forced by Samsung) but worked great only problem is the ads interrupted everything so I refuse to install it on my new phone. anyone know a TV remote control app that works on galaxy s10 plus?

I don't ever feel the need to leave reviews but this app is a tremendous annoyance. So many instances of it no longer being able to detect my sound bar. Vizio's solution was to reset the sound bar. I've probably reset it over a dozen times and this is their best solution. If there was another way to fine tune my sound bar with the precision I'm after I would have aborted this app long ago. They claim "effortless discovery" and that couldn't be further from the truth.

This is some of the worst software on the market. We have 3 Vizio TVs and they are pretty good TVs for the price. The problem is this terribly developed software. User interface is terrible and they make you jump through a hundred hoops to do the most basic of tasks. This is a real problem because the TV itself lacks most relevant apps from its on board app section. I ended up using chrome casts at the additional expense because this software is so poorly made. Shame on Vizio for only providing a minimally functional remote. It's stupid to have to use an app to set a sleep timer. At least it worked for the first 2 years. In recent months the app can't even find/connect to my TV with either Bluetooth or wi-fi unless I unplug the tv and go through entire setup process. The connection only lasts until I leave the room. The next night, I have to unplug tv again, set up, reestablish wi-fi connection w password, register. It's app; no change to tv components

The app is functional and works almost always, it lags a bit but nothing too serious. The one BIG downside for me, and why I only rated this with 3 stars, was because every time you leave and come back it starts off where you left off but then reboots to the home screen. You wouldn't think this is a problem but the finger pad you use to navigate to things and is the click function goes away and is replaced with a big power button... that's right I turned my TV off more times then I can count.

Basic remote functions seem to work. I used the app to quickly configure TV channels I want to skip. I think you need TV set in the mode to listen for network access (and voice control, etc) while OFF, if you want to power it up using this app. I switched off but couldn't power up again without the TV remote. Big issue is that I can't Exit the app once launched - bad. I haven't tried the media/smartcast functionality. If I have to force close it I probably won't use it much.

Dumbass menu design. The casting controls only appear when you're casting, but it takes a second for them to appear (and will sometimes disappear then reappear again) and bump the rest of the buttons down a row. So nine times out of ten, you go to turn down the volume end up turning off the TV. Which, since you were casting something, means you also lose what you were watching.

The software is really slow when it comes to editing device settings. Also my Vizio speaker audio settings keep getting messed up everytime I switch it on and I have to make changes to the settings all over again. Also the application stops detecting the connected devices more often than not. For this application to get 5 stars, make it quick, responsive and easy.

This app is so broken that I don't know where to begin. It'll connect to my sound bar on occasion, but it's so erratic that I cannot rely on it. This is a shame because my remote is broken so I have to rely on this app to actually change audio settings. It's a great sound bar, but if it is this unreliable when connecting to my phone, the wifi, and Google Smartcast, it'll be hard to buy another Vizio sound bar.

This app is so poorly made it makes me think the developers probably only put a few days work into it. Maybe if they took the weekend and doubled their efforts we might have a real app. My devices will NOT pair with this app. I've tried multiple phones. Ive tried factory resetting my sound bar multiple times. I've tried manually setting the wireless connection. I've tried connecting via bluetooth. And when, after an hour of trying, it finally connects, it disconnects the moment I turn the TV off

Glitchy. Slow to load. Always a lag. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it lags by 60 seconds on volume adjustment. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that volume isn't remembered for each input, so if you change inputs you could be deafened by an extraordinary and overwhelming sound that gets me noise complaints at my rural house. Also, I only have a soundbar. Why does the app want me to stream video to it? i thought it was a smart device.

It has been good to me. I can turn it on anywhere in the home.upstairs , it will come on downstairs because I only have 1 TV. The Picture is always in HD. The sound is great. But I give 4 stars because a couple of times the Picture went crazy. many mixed up colors. I don't know how it happened as I was switching back to my phone. No other issues.

It's great, except for a few features. The CC button doesn't work, and there are no arrow keys. Yes, there's a touch pad but it's not obvious how to get to it. And when I opened it by accident I expected something to appear, not a big empty space. (My husband who's a gamer knew at once, but I didn't have a clue.) And there's no way to find out. Finally it's really stupid that you can pick as many Favorite channels as you want but only the first 7 show. A simple user guide wouldnt' go amiss.

Frustrating when things go wrong, and they often do. When adding a new device, errors, loops, and disconnects are frequent and unhelpful. Google's devices with Chromecast are seamless to pair, but Vizio's Chromecast devices disconnect from wifi, aren't easy to set up, and are frustrating to use. Wish it worked as well as other Google compatible devices.

Great when it works. Unfortunately, it rarely works. It connects fine and works perfectly until the next time I go to use the app when it says that my soundbar is no longer an available device. If I want to use this app in any capacity, I'm required to delete my soundbar from my learned devices and re-add it after every single use. I'm disappointed because the format for the app is infinitely better than the remote that came with my soundbar. Please fix this.

With my tv it works great, haven't had a problem yet, but with my vizio sound bar it's like a kid with ADD. It'll work great for all of 2 mins then either disconnect or will think that the divice is off so i can't control it. Great potential though. I love how you can control the devices anywhere in/out of the house so when I go up to bed and forget to turn the tv off or particular people won't go to bed on time I can turn it off with my phone instead of walking all the way downstairs.

I really like this app and once I accidently figured out how to use the controls I like it even more. I became very frustrated at first (and almost uninstalled the app and just ordered a new remote) there is No arrow up/down/left/right that is visible on the screen...the screen is blank. To use it you just swipe up/down etc. but like I said I discovered that accidentally!! That is my only complaint and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

The app is... there I guess? I often expierence slow load times and crashes on the app. I would normally not care, but since they decided to manufacture TVs that do not have full remotes and function only through this app, everyone is forced to use it. The app will tell me the TV is displaying something or that it is turned on while the the TV is actually unresponsive and turned off. Many times you'll go to simply turn down the volume and the app will load forever as it fails to connect.

I hate our tv so much because this is the only way to control it! What I would give to have a normal remote that actually worked more than 20% of the time. it's seriously ridiculous and terrible. when the only way to control it is the app through your phone or the included tablet remote, and the app won't communicate or find the tv most of the time it's beyond frustrating. Obly positive is thst we watch a lot less tv since getting this. because it doesn't give us another option.

Edit: So previously I wrote a review about how terrible this app is, namely because it refused to recognize my tv as even existing. Shortly after, bam... it finally connected. So after exploring the app a bit, it is actually pretty impressive. The interface is fantastic, pictures are crisp, and I only had to go through the "pain-staking" effort of connecting my tv again. But now I have reached a new problem. The control function doesn't actually work. Volumn or otherwise.

i don't know what is wrong but i can not cast to my tv anymore. We have had our VIZIO for almost two years and primarily use it to cast youtube or other media apps from our phones. starting a few months ago we have been steadily losing our ability to cast and stay connected to the tv. i downloaded this app to try to keep my phone connected to the tv, it doesn't work and possibly has made the issue even worse.

There are so many basic(!) functions that are unavailable through the remote. All I ever want to do is to set a sleep timer. This simple task can take up to 15m. every. single. time. Ridiculous! Latest version now wants to require an account and it can't even register it, nor does it allow me to "Continue as Guest" as that option seems to be just for decoration. Just never buy a Vizio TV. Stick with Samsung, their TVs always work as intended for many years.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled this app since it somehow lost my TV connection. Yet the app works perfectly fine on my husband's phone which is identical to my phone. I can't stand the fact that the TV remote does not have a menu button to control other options. I wouldn't have to use the app for anything if I had access to everything besides the basic controls. Plus it takes forever to sign in, that is when the app actually does log me in.

I had an issue with connecting a new modem, I emailed customer service and was responded to almost immediately with a thorough and friendly email. They fixed the problem and I was connected in no time. Hard to find customer service like this that will fix your problem within minutes. Awesome experience, absolutely love the app, and I recommend it to anyone.

Had issues with not recognizing my TV for over a year of having this, but recently it stopped recognizing it all together. Now, due to a recent update (I believe), you must sign in to use it after waiting to watch this dumb intro clip. Then, using the Google sign in option, it brings it right back to sign in. Did the same thing, then all I get is a blank screen. Can not change ANY settings on my TV without this app either.

Apps that support a real-world product always feel like they were made by the cheapest vendor. this one is not really any different, but at least, in this case, the cheapest vendor wasn't terrible at their job. It's slow, disconnects from the soundbar often, and doesn't always respond at all, but when it's working, it's great to be able to adjust the sound from an app. I never could get casting to work, but I've got a Chromecast, so I'm okay with that.

Still plenty of bugs need to be stamped out as I try to use it. This app hardly ever recognizes my Vizio so I can't use the remote in the app. Won't connect to Alexa, app insists that my Vizio isn't on Quick Start (which it is) and that it's not sharing the same home wireless network (which it is). I really want this to work but there's MUUCCHH more work needed for fine tuning this app. I still have more patience left so hopefully there will be improvements in the future.

I haven't had an issue with my vizio smartcast tv or the app....until recently. I decided to change my internet password. I attempted to go into my settings to change the password so the app would continue to connect. I could not find a simple process to do so, without removing my device and re-setting it all over again..Unless there is another way...I'm not happy with the inconvenience I go through just to change a password

Trying to use app to get to the settings on my sounds bar (5.1.2). It worked OK for a few weeks. Now the setting button has disappeared along with a few others. Only the volume up, down and mute button are visible now. Tried to reinstall the app thinking that would get me back in business. Nope, it was buggy trying to get it to connect and now the settings button is still not accessible through the app.

This comes in a lot of handy for when you can't find your remote and/or don't want to get up to reach it haha but my only problem is when I smartcast from YouTube it plays its own playlist and when I try to play something else it glitches back to what it was Playing before and will then disconnect from my phone and play whatever it wants on its own. Of which then I have to turn off the tv entirely, re-pair my phone, then choose what I want for it to work. (by the way it happens with mine, my boyfriend's, and my friends phone. So I'm sure it's not my cell phone.)

Works great, when it actually works. I always have to go through the initial setup over and over and over... I can never just turn on my soundbar or tv like i want to. I have to go back to the remote and turn it on, then setup the app again. let alone the remote that came with the tv was not designed to run the smartcast(design fail), so i am forced to use the app to control the tv for the smart options. its an inconvenience, but when its all setup and paired, the app does what it is supposed to... even though it might be a bit slow on response.

Have had no issues. This was the best option for me because my wife and I recently purchased two of the same televisions and mounted them right next to each other. Since one remote controls both TVs, we decided to use the app as a last resort and it works! I can use it to control one of our TVs and she can use the app on her phone to control the other so we don't interfere with anything, especially when we are gaming!

I got this to replace a non-functioning remote but it is literally useless. I can turn the TV on or off and adjust the volume but I can't actually control anything else on the TV. Since the physical remote is broken and the app is garbage, my TV us basically unusable. Between this app and the actual, this is TV is my first and last Vizio purchase. At least they're consistent on (poor) quality.

I called into technical support yesterday to confirm if Prime Video is part of the cast apps, and instead of just answering no it isn't a supported version on my device yet, the tech walked me through a factory reset of my tv and now my tv isn't working. All it does is turn on and show that this display is not set up for casting. It was working just fine before the 2 hours and 3 support techs that I spoke with. We tried over and over again to reset and pair the device and now it won't end reset to the factory settings. Only them to then tell me that it's no longer under warranty and that I would have to pay to get it serviced. All they then left me with is that they've "done all they can do" and they're sorry. I purchased this TV because it was better than paying for an expensive cable bill on top of already having access to streaming apps. I spoke to a supervisor after waiting and being disconnected after about 30 minutes of waiting. That person just gave me the same song and dance. I had no issues with my device until last night. I am furious about this because I basically have a smart TV that was broken by your tech support team and all you can muster up is an "I'm sorry". No offer to replace the tv or cover the cost of the repair since it was their fault. This is the worst technical support I've ever worked with that damaged the product and offered no way to remedy this. I am highly disappointed in how this situation happened.

This app is nothing but a major inconvenience. It is always glitching: failing to load, failing to recognize the TV when wifi is working perfectly fine.. etc it is also incredibly annoying when I'm watching TV and texting on my phone if I want to pause the TV or change the volume I have to reopen the app which takes for freaking ever to load. I hate that I have to use it. My remote does not have directional controls or a select button. So even though I can turn on the TV and select the mode, I cannot, for example, navigate to and select Netflix without my phone. Most recent complaint is that it is forcing me to sign in now, but some glitch is causing the sign in screen to reload over and over no matter what option I select. This app makes me want to spend good money for a different TV.

This app used to be adequate, nothing great but functional... now it's total garbage, why do I need an account to run the TV I paid over $1,000 dollars? I'm well aware of the "continue as a guest" option, if you click on it, it loops back through the video and tries to force a sign in now. This was a an adequate replacement for a garbage remote in the box that became garbage itself.

One of the most useless apps I have. Doesn't work well with their TV. Linking is overly complicated if it works at all. This is a major problen when... accessing an app is actually done from your phone and not from the Tv! Amazon is on the TV, netfix too. Sling TV is not nor is it possible to download it to the Tv which is problematic if you don't have a top notch phone. Vizio"s are a good quality TV but their app is pure garbage.

Brand new TV but have tried over and over and I can't get the app to sync via WiFi or Bluetooth. I have a pixel 2 phone so it's not like I have outdated hardware here. So frustrating! I can use it to cast which is pointless because other apps will do that for me already, I specifically wanted it to replace remote functions.

What used to be a functional but slightly quirky app for controlling our Vizio SmartCast ecosystem has been ruined by the lose of navigating via the swipe function in the control part of the app. I never really liked having to swipe forward or back to rewind or fast forward in a show or movie but put up with it grudgingly. The app shows it was last updated on October 25 and now since that update I can no longer use that navigation in the app via swiping. If I push a button, for say the menu or info, that will work and I can navigate by swiping in those menus, but once I get to the SmartCast page swiping won't work like it used to. If the developers bring that part back it would prompt me to change my rating, but I would still prefer a dedicated fast forward and rewind, and chapter navigation buttons. I now have to go to the app for whichever video service that I want to use to navigate in my video. It's usable, but not as convenient as using the SmartCast app to get to all the supported apps. And in case you think it's my device, the same problem is happening in my two devices with the app and which have different versions of Android. It's highly disappointing!

It is an upgrade to an app, which is not optimized for my tablet. The previous version was acceptable. I am unable to keep the old app. You have to remember I onky used the old app as the tv remote. So the old app should remain available because I do not care for all the other bloatware on the new version. Or vizio should supply me with a remote with more buttons. Example the ability to control the volume control of the rear external speakers. But NO, I need a new app

Pure Trash!!!! I cannot stress that enough. This app is horrible. Most of the time it cannot find the TV. Have to factory reset the TV to get the app to reconnect to the TV. That is the only thing that I have found that works. I hate that one of my Vizio TV's came with a super basic remote which forces me to use the app. I am currently looking on Amazon for a universal remote so that I can uninstall the app and NEVER use it again.
