I love this app, even though one cannot purchase books or anything from the Kindle app anymore. However, there is a small but noticeable glitch. When I started reading/playing Star Wars; Light Of The Jedi, the reader highlighter thing was moving at least 2 sentences faster than the audio. It flips the page before the narrator is finished with the previous one. Could you please fix this ASAP? Thank you!!

I echo all the reviews regarding the removal of purchasing new books through the app. This is a nightmare. I've been using this app for over 2 years, and am in a very competitive book club. Having to jump through hoops to purchase new books is going to really screw me up in my competitions. I haven't attempted to purchase anything new yet, but I'm seeing from others can't even doing it from thwir Amazon app. You have to log into a browser to purchase. Absolutely insanity!

Hate the new change today . I cannot believe you took off the option to buy books on the app. This is a terrible idea. Now you have to leave the app, go search the Amazon ebooks page and purchase the books on that page. I used to buy a lot of books,it was convenient and easy, now that will at least cut down on my monthly kindle book buys. I don't know why you are saying you had to do this change to be compliant with Google. I can buy books on Google app. Why can't you leave a great thing alone?

This used to be a great app before the most recent Google update. Now you have to jump through hoops to rent a video or buy a book through all Amazon apps. Making everything complicated and unnecessary. Google ruined a perfectly good thing. Hopefully Google and Amazon can team up and fix these glitches as soon as possible.

I can no longer buy books from the app. That's INCREDIBLY frustrating, as I use my Kindle Every. Single. Day. For years. Several years, in fact - I have been using kindle on my phone since before my son was born, and am on week 202 for my weekly streak record. I'm highly disappointed in Google right now.

So disappointed with the removal of the in house app nothing works. Have spent 2 days trying to download the book I want to read and it's been so frustrating that I'm going to uninstal this app and find one that is easy and quick to use. This use to be a great, quick easy app

Since the customer service email you list on the app info doesn't work I'm forced to put this here. Library loans that are returned via Libby don't get removed automatically from the Kindle app. I have to manually go into my content listings onnthe amazon website and delete them one by one. Fix this issue!

Removing in app purchases has made this app essentially unusable. The book list feature doesnt work and trying to navigate the run around to simply purchase and read is ridiculous and infuriating. Im already looking for another option because this is so impossible to use now.

Disappointed that I can no longer purchase directly from the app! I am a Prime member so I am not understanding why the change was made but it is VERY frustrating. Would rate 5 stars otherwise, as I have enjoyed the app for years.

I've been using Kindle since the start and have never had any complaints until now. I ABSOLUTELY HATE that I can no longer make purchases directly through the app. It has become a major inconvenience to have to go through so many steps just make an impulsive purchase. I don't know what Google Play was thinking making that stupid change but I recommend they change it back asap

This is a MISERABLE! Change you have made to this app!!! I am unable to pull up books that I supposedly have added to my library. I may as well go back to reading books checked out of my city library. It would be less frustrating - at least the rules don't change there and haven't changed for the last 40+ years!!!

Really good app although it's a bit buggy at times , like not properly loading a page or taking time to load a book, the "processing" part takes a lot of time. Also I can't seem to find the "remove book from the library" option which I'm pretty sure was an in-app feature cause I removed a few sample books from my library. Covers for some books are awful and would love to have edit options for the books from one's own storage in the library.

The app was so good with a few details to fix. For example, it would be very useful, since it is already connecting to goodreads app, to be able to either track your reading and update your process on goodreads or have an option to update it from kindle. One of the great features was the fact that kindle and amazon payment was connected so you could easily choose books and buy them instantly without having to open amazon. And now this feature is GONE😔😔

Removing the in app purchasing system is absolutely ridiculous! You can make bogus purchases on games but I can't buy a book from an app that was designed to buy and book on. Also, the add to list button doesn't work, the website is so clunky and won't allow you to purchase some books and it's not allowing me to buy the first book in a series, I have to buy the whole bundle!! Honestly if this isn't fixed soon I'm going to stop using the app altogether.

Ridiculous move removing in-app purchases. Not convenient to have to go to a website that you then have to try and navigate to then log back into app to download just to be able to read on your tablet or phone. It's double handling. Not impressed at all. Other applications have kept their in-app purchases. If this is how it's going to be from now on I will be deleting.

I don't appreciate the new update that removes the purchase feature from Kindle. I cannot even go into my Amazon app to purchase a book. I have to go some round about way to purchase when before it was one click and done. Seems this is a step backwards. Hopefully the issue will be corrected soon.

Was a great App, and still is good, if you jump through half a dozen hoops to purchase an E-Book and then download said E-Book. The whole reas9n I liked this was because it was a one stop shop for most books I would read... Now why don't I just purchase actual books that feel better to hold and read. The only two things the App had was ease of carry (which it still has) and ease of purchase which it doesn't.

Loved the app until I couldn't get books through it anymore, not even through the Amazon app... Now have to go all the way to web version, just so I can read.... IN THE APP.... Google store nonsense. Can't even get the digital books in Amazon app, but you can still buy everything else... What gives. Guess no music through Amazon either soon

This used to be a great app. Now it is no longer capable of downloading books I already own from my library to my device. I've tried multiple times over the last month. The only thing I can do is force close the app and try again. Most of the time the app screen is completely unresponsive. I feel as though Amazon has stolen from me because I expected to have continued access to the books I've previously purchased.

Whatever spat Google and Amazon are having needs to end. I've used this app for the better part of a decade, and now it's completely useless. I don't know the politics involved, but I do know that I will not be going to Amazon's website separately to purchase books and download them manually, or whatever nonsense they're currently suggesting

Have been using this for years (years!) and am so frustrated at not being able to buy books from the app anymore, this makes it hard for my ADHD brain to remember what the heck I was going to amazon to buy and then I never remember. PLEASE RETURN THE ABILITY, I am not going to buy any books until you do.

I love the kindle app I have read so many different books over the years on here it's worth the time and money. Update after finding that I can no longer purchase new books off the site I have to change my opinion on this app. I'm disappointed by the changes I have been using this app for many years now and to see this happen has me upset. Amazon do better please change things back until then I continue to agree this app is now a 1 star in my mind

I am rerating since the app was 'upgraded'. I download ARCs for review and they are no longer synced. I used to get an email requesting the sync but since the upgrade it is impossible. I hate this. Also I can no longer purchase through the app whis is inconvenient.

So I LOVED this app for years. Used to be such a great way to listen to books. Now I genuinely don't understand what the point of it is. The app used to be for buying and renting books, but now you can't do that so its just supposed to be a digital library? They should really combine this with audible or something because its useless on its own.

Forcing people to buy a kindle to buy content outside of the full website is BS. I've owned three of those POS's and finally dumped it for good and have been using the app instead. And now I can't buy content through it. Bezos can't afford good developers or what?? Super inconvenient to have to go to a PC now. Cuz that's always in front of me when I'm not at work.............

Before recent changes, made by Google, this app would have gotten 5 stars. I used it all the time. Now I am unable to read a lot of the books that I've paid for. It is very frustrating. I have been a member since 2016 and it has been easy to purchase audible books with my unlimited membership. As of Friday thar all changed. The option disappeared with a message that it's no longer supported. To purchase you now you need to log into a computer to see the option to purchase. It's absolutely ridiculous. I called customer service who had no idea of the change, walked me through all the options all to find out you need to be logged into a computer. Time to look for a better servi

With the removal of the ability to buy books from the app, I'm going to be using this a LOT less. I can't even buy it from the Amazon app on my phone. What if I'm traveling and want to purchase a book? I guess the good thing is I'll purchase more physical books rather than Kindle editions but still... super frustrating to have a book app that's making it significantly harder to buy books.

absolutely hate the new update. its taken away the whispersync option which makes my kindle unlimited and audible subscriptions useless so I will cancel them also. in previous if you got a book on kindle unlimited the audio was only an extra £3.49 averagely. now you have to use credits which are £8 a month for a single credit. I read around 20 books a month with whispersync and the update has made reading no longer affordable.

Not happy with new update. I liked that you could buy books and read without having to worry about going on Amazon, but the new update is a step back. A number of the books in my library are samples and I would buy one or two every week but now I have to go onto the website to purchase which will mean that a lot of the books i might have bought will now be deleted due to not wanting to deal with the hassle. Please add ability to buy back

Honestly, I love this app. I mostly uss it to read comics, the guided view feature makes the whole comics experience so much more immersive, and is now my favourite way to experience comics. If you have Kindle Unlimited you can 'borrow' certain books for free too. *update* June 2022: removing purchase option is a terrible idea! Why would they do that?

The app just went from being very convenient to a pain. I don't want to have to leave my kindle app when I find a book I want to purchase and then have to log into Amazon to actually purchase it. I loved my kindle and now the whole process to purchase books isn't worth it. Customer service and convenience should come first, not some contract regarding compliance. Please fix this.

I used to love this app, until now. Latest update won't let me purchase any ebook. It was so easy to see an ebook, purchase and download. Now, you have to use Chrome or computer to purchase then go back to the phone to download. Then when it downloads, you're lucky if the entire book will load. I've already had one that a few pages didn't come through. Who's stupid idea was this to change an already 5 star app and turn it into an inconvenient and difficult one to use?

You can't buy books in the app anymore! What the hell? You have to go this roundabout inconvenient way to buy books on the site! I've spent hours reading books on the kindle app, and spent a small fortune on buying books too. Sadly it's no longer really worth having since unable to buy books on android app, except to reread the books I've already bought. You would have thought that two companies like Google and Amazon could have worked something out for their customers wouldn't you. 🙄

I downloaded this application via the Amazon app store to make sure that I could purchase my ebooks from it and Google Play replaced it with it's own application. Due to this I may not purchase anything from it and only list them as wanted. I don't want to have to repeat this process every day I want to purchase books just because Google and Amazon don't want to get along.

I despise the new purchase changes. Not having the capability to purchase books from the app is a real pain, especially if you are looking at purchasing the next book in a series or something along those lines. I don't always purchase the entire series until after I read the first just to get a feel for the story and such. This will make it more difficult. Gone are the days of "one touch" convenience. Dang google!

Before the latest update I thought that the Kindle was a great app, 5 stars at least. Now I can't buy books from it and it insists on showing recommended books that I would never buy, including some that appear to be porn. There doesn't seem to be any way to filter that content. After using this for several days. The new way of accessing ebooks stinks.

I received the notification that I will no longer be able to purchase books thru the Kindle app. I am very disappointed that Amazon is driving traffic to their website this way. Blaming the PlayStore is not acceptable when my local sandwich shop and most games have in-app purchase options as a basic feature. I do not believe that Amazon is less capable than all of these small businesses to connect apps and purchases.

NOT WHAT I THOUGHT! I LOVE to read. We moved to a very rural area 12 years ago. Buying a book has to be a destination trip for us. Although I really prefer to read a real book, I have found that Kindle is great for me. I frequently download free books, and I have discovered several authors that way. Kindle is an easy way for me to read as much as I like to.

I use to love this app. I would use it everyday constantly. Loved how the pages would turn in sync with the audible. Now I can't listen to the books because of the policy. I've tried to get the audible version but it is just one big confusing frustrating mess. What happened? Why on earth would the option to buy books in app be taken away? It makes no sense, I have used this app for years and it's the easiest way to get more reading material. The menus are laggy and navigating them is confusing, only through using this app through years has it become second nature to me. But seriously Amazon, get it together. I'm not getting yet -another- subscription service and making it more difficult to use the app as intended isn't going to change my decision.

Actually, I find the new purchasing rules to be a blessing in disguise! I'm buying at LEAST fifty percent fewer books since the rules came in. It used to be too easy for me to impulse buy--see an interesting looking book, press the Buy button, and done. Now, with having to go out of the app and into the website, there's time for a saner head to prevail and realize I don't NEED that book at all... I'm sure other impulse shoppers will soon realize it's going to be a money saver for them as well.

I used to really like this app. It took a big hit now that you can't by books through it. That was a big plus for the app. You can't even get them through the Amazon app, you have to go to the website or a kindle. I most likely won't use the app much anymore and will just make sure I've loaded up my kindle ahead of time when I'm going to be away from home.

I get it's apparently a Google play store issue, but it's stupid to take away buying books in the app. It's causing extra unnecessary steps. I have a kindle, but when I wanted more info and faster service, I went to this app to look for books. This app is pretty pointless now.

I reluctantly joined the e-book community 13 years ago or so. Thanks to the changes made to be in compliance with Google by Amazon and Barnes & Noble, I find myself again thrust outside of it. This was to be a "convenience", and I am done being "convenienced" and will not buy another ebook until such a time as they again offer purchases through their apps. My physical library stands at more than 2,000 volumes, and I have another 2,500 or so downloaded, so I have no need buy for a long whole yet.

The app worked great until they dumbed it down to remove the ability to purchase books. I understand it's the Google play store policy that's responsible. I hope Amazon makes a separate app available through the Amazon App store that returns this important functionality.

the experience will be better once you fix the bug with the scroll option on phones. it black screens and freezes the ebooks and ap. long time user and fan. I've used the app for many years, and own a large library in addition to being a Kindle Unlimited subscriber off and on. The app has improved significantly over time, and has given me countless hours of enjoyment. I love the way the app holds my place in a book, so that if I need to switch devices, I take up right where I left off. And if I want to pause reading one book and go to another, I don't end up with a stack of books teetering on my nightstand-they're all waiting for me in the app.

You can't buy books directly in the app anymore 😕. You have to do some convoluted method of adding it to a list and then logging into their website through a browser to purchase. Guess they are big enough to loose money. I have only ever purchased books through the app because the purchase button was right there and it was convenient. I guess if I have to go back to jumping through hoops for a book I'll be using overdrive and my library card again.

love the ease and simplicity of kindle. so simple and plenty of free options! The only problem is now I cannot utilize my app or even my Amazon shopping app to purchase books. It is so annoying that Google does not allow this. It honestly makes me want to stop buying Google products and find another option. I don't understand why they are making this an issue. I wake up in the middle of the night and read to distract my mind so I can fall back to sleep. One little issue. It doesn't record all the days that I've read, so reading streaks are not accurate. There's always at least one day if not two or three more left off during the month. This is the second month in a row this is happened during the spring challenge. Makes me not want to bother. Edit: Just got the update that I can't buy books through the app. Why? This is totally inconvenient.

I used to love the app on my phone as I literally would read everyday with it. However it seems that with the latest update, the app no longer supports buying e-books. Instead you're supposed to go online to the Amazon digital store, buy the book you want there, and then have it sent to your Kindle app on your phone... So much for actually browsing the store to find what book I want to buy next now. Might as well use it to buy them via BookBub or GoodReads if I have to get on the computer.

Being unable to buy books on this app is making me want to turn away from kindle. Additionally there is a bug for some audiobooks, regardless of how many times I download it, won't do the audible narration on Android anymore. This bug is not present on iOS. The star is for what it used to be and the fact it has a sleep timer that ends at the end of the chapter. The iOS app does not do this.

Generally good at what it does. An extra colour scheme or two would be nice to have. I find the access to the 'system' options a bit hit and miss. A single discreet button in one corner for this would be good. 4 stars are not because of problems but because a few little enhancements would make it 5 stars. I'm waiting :o)

The app has several issues with audio books, immersion reading and synchronization.. also, lately the pause button on Bluetooth devices stopped working.. Update 03/06/2022: Even with the latest update the problem still insists. Also, it doesn't only affect media controls through Bluetooth connectivity but also media controls on wired headphones... not bad but sometimes when I want to open my book it shows my library and thats not what I want. Removal of in-app purchasing is ridiculous! The whole point of Kindle Unlimited is easy on-demand access to e-books and having a add to list feature that doesn't work and a clunky website that you have to individually search texts on certainly isn't that. If the level of inconvenience stays this high I will be reconsidering my subscription.

Latest update completely killed the app. Any time I try to access books which are *already in my library* and *downloaded to the device* it tells me kindle cannot access the folder they're in, and needs to be granted permission. I press the button to grant permission, and android says "to protect your privacy" I'm not allowed to grant access to that folder. I understand this is probably Google's fault, but the app as it is cannot perform it's most basic functions.

the app is pretty good, however I believe much improvement are needed and much update should be implied or enroute. books are pretty pricey at least some books. I hope in the future like a year or so from now it becomes better or else I'll dissociate with them and go to nookbook. I believe i am downgrading the rate for this app nor necessarily their fault but at them same time there has not been any battle or future plan to resolve this, that is i can't purchase my e-books through this app.

great for the girl on the go (I love physical books but sometimes they can be bulky if you're travling light) my only issue is that you can't purchase through the app (or the Amazon app) any more so the requirement for an actual computer to purchase books is a little annoying, overall quite happy with it

The app is great for syncing up books on my kindle and reading books from it. But one thing I really hate now is how with the new update we cnat buy new books on here anymore. First this happened on thr Amazon app now one. It's not due to Amazon; it's because of Google's stupid new policy change. This app made it more efficient and a little faster to buy books. Now it's a hassle to go to the web browser and open a new tab to the kindle store. I would Google would make it customer friendly

I was enjoying kindle app until today, when you guys took off buying books option off. Why?! It's the worst decision. Did you guys sit there and think how to make your app less user friendly? Do I feel like going on the quest looking through web to buy the book? No. I liked the buy-now-with-one-click right on the app option much better, thank you very much.

I'm changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I absolutely hate that I can no longer purchase books via the app and have to logging in to a browser to do so. What is the point of the app if I can't make in app purchases. Dumb! I use this app a lot since I started using it in 2021. Now I might have to rethink if I should even keep it since it is such a hassle to get a book now. Start thinking about what your customers want/need and not your profit. Without us you wouldn't be in business Amazon!

Love the Kindle app, googles asinine policies are the only negative to it. It literally kills the main convenience of using digital books, I might as well go back to ordering hard copies of I'm going to have to jump through hoops of multiple apps just to purchase a book.

Google's changes have now made this app virtually useless! All of the books I previously purchased are now showing up as needing to be purchased again. And, wouldn't you know it, they are more than I originally bought them for. I'm so angry that I'm debating deleting the app. Possibly even deleting all of my Google apps. Well played Google, well played!

Frustrated with the removal of the ability to purchase books through the app. I was expecting it after getting notice. Added to my list, opened the Amazon app, couldn't be bought there either. Wasn't expecting that. Can only be done with a browser. Feel like I've gone back in time 5 years. Btw the book was $0 so there was no 30% for Amazon to pay Google. Noticed I can shop on Amazon app, just not books. Even more frustrating. Pull it from the play store and offer a fully functional app please.

Sure is a handy program for 'carrying' a large amount of reading material (especially when traveling). It gives you access to a great variety of books, and magazines to read without all the weight. ** Now it seems most I read Must have a Pay For app to continue the series! Very Disappointed! ! ! !

I think there must be more perfect ways to read and store an ever-growing library, but this means to those ends comes very close to perfection. Although highlighting needs cleverer work, and UNREAD-books-in-library would be a useful improvement, and NoteMaking texting is a trifle spotty, KindleForPhone is, in my opinion, 93% of a utopian solution, especially when it's time to move to a small and cheaper apartment.

Reasons this app is a 1 star now 1. You can't buy books from the app 2. When I go to my kindle library the book covers dont show up anymore & neither do the titles. On quite a few books but not all. I've restarted my phone more than once & I've deleted the app & reinstalled it more than once, nothing seems to help. I've also tried to contact them through the help button but that screen seems to be frozen. Not a good app anymore. I just tried it again but nothings changed. Deleting it.

The screen brightness setting is very broken. At its very lowest, it forces the screen to full brightness. I'm not trying to use my book pages as a flashlight, I'm trying to read in the dark. I don't want or need to stare into the sun to do so. If you're gonna override system brightness, at least do so competently. I shouldn't need a 3rd party dimmer to make the eReader app of the company who killed e-readers usable.

A very solid e-reader. However, changes to Google's third-party payment policy as of June 1st, 2022 disable purchasing books directly from the app. Amazon has failed to update its support docs accordingly, and the message that's supposed to inform users as to how appears once in the app and is difficult or impossible to re-access once you close it. I already know how to purchase and import books, but for a lot of readers this is an accessibility nightmare. Amazon, UPDATE YOUR DOCUMENTATION.

Google ruined it. I've been using this app to buy and read for over 10 years now. The ease of getting new books was wonderful. Being in a very out of the way location for many of those years, with no way to get books except online, this app saved my sanity. Now I have to jump through hoops to get new books, all because of Google. Google is horrible. I won't be doing anything with Google again, and will be seriously reconsidering my dealings with Amazon.

I loved Kindle and Amazon app but now i don't know...I think the new changes that we can no longer purchase ebooks through the Amazon app and the Kindle app in the new upgrade is RIDICULOUS!!!! What is the point of the apps if we now have to go online just to purchase books! I don't like this new change and I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds it annoying and inconvenient. On the apps I can just purchase a book right away. SMH

This app is now useless for me. Since the latest update you can no longer purchase books through the app. Ridiculous. I have relied on the app for my books and downloaded plenty, some free, some paid for, but now I have to add the book to a list and purchase it on the Amazon website in a web browser. I can't even go to the Amazon shopping app and buy through that. If I did not have a selection of books which I have paid good money for this app would be history. Not impressed.

It's been lagging a bit lately, but today's update was a big disappointment. Taking away the ability to purchase a book in app is ridiculous. I've used Kindle for years and have always bought books directly through my device. Now having to go log into Amazon on a browser or on a different device is a big pain in the back side. I don't know why Amazon and but apparently seems to be Google are taking this ability away. Why are we making things more difficult with updates?

This is not Amazon's fault, but thanks to Google, purchasing of books went from one simple tap to a cumbersome and torturous procedure. While I used to buy books in a spur of a moment, this change ensures that I will dread each and every new purchase due to all the hoops I have to jump for a new book. Fix this please.

These "improvements" have made this app nearly pointless. Issues with recommend books and kindle unlimited books many just go to store home page and dont actually load the info page. The store seems almost broken even with kindle unlimited users. Its 3x more convoluted and since everything is now being forced into web browser, which you can use to read the books anyways, the purpose of the app is lost. Just buy the book and then read it through the browser save your self a few steps inbetween.

Quirky but good for reading books. Edit: Lowered the review because of the changes in Google policy it limits the ability to get new books for Kindle Unlimited and removed the ability to modify/change the subscription status. Still good for reading but more hassle has been added then is necessary.

Since the more recent updates the app freezes a lot and Audible Whispersync no longer works if I've bought the book before the audio book and with the new update of not being able to purchase books in app this app is now essentially useless. The hoops you have to jump through now just to read a book arent worth it. Canceling my Kindle Unlimited subscription and finding another app for my reading.

I hate that I now have to switch apps to buy a book. I don't understand any policy that makes it so that you go from a convieniant functional system to something more difficult. I would honestly rather just read the physical version if that's the case.

The only things I don't like about Kindle are how you can't install for Windows outside the US and how often products are unavailable outside the US (and paper books remain superior, since you cannot interact with the Kindle text anyway). For what it is it functions well.

Due to Google Play new policies getting their mitts into individual app functionality, the latest update for Kindle is no more direct purchases. eg: Kindle sends me recommendations for next read. I open the app but instead of being able to purchase any of those recommendations within the app, I now have to put it on a "wishlist" LEAVE the damn app to purchase it on a different Amazon app/browser then go BACK to my Kindle app to see it and read it. HOW is that more convenient than it was before?

So I'm re rating this review and unfortunately its not even Amazon's fault since they had no choice. Because of google play policies, with this new update, just like with the shopping, video, and music app, you can not purchase or Manage subscriptions. I did find i can still use my kindle unlimited but well see how long that last! You now have to use the browser/website to buy digital purchases. Thank God I have a Kindle bc it would be a hassle to have to switch all the time. SHAME ON GOOGLE!

No text to speech feature. This guts the usefulness of the app for people who read audibly in their commute. TalkBack TTS is a paltry solution as it takes a massive amount of time and changes the functionality of your phone. This app can't read to me on the go and blocks other readers. Even if they made a fairly cheap paid app to make this easier I would buy it, though I will avoid buying a Kindle device - is patently unfriendly to audio readers. Two thumbs down to a customer-hostile app.

The newest update ruined the app. Buying books was easy before, I could buy on the app or through the Amazon app. Now I need to go into a web browser and use a saved list just to buy one book. It says to be in line with google play rules but every other app I've ever used still allows in app purchases. I've never had to use a web browser to buy things in any other app so why is this different? Incredibly disappointed with this change.

The new update that they just added makes this app absolutely terrible. Not being able to add and change books for the app is a complete waste of time. I got the add because for a while on older kindle models this was an easier way to add books but now it's just a complete mess.

I never write these reviews but they took away the ability to buy books in the app and that's the most ridiculous feature to disengage. It's so difficult navigating Amazon to buy books. And now I have to use two platforms to buy and then to read. Whoever decided this feature deserves to have their bonus taken away. I would say f u but I'm Canadian so I'll just think it really loudly in my head instead.

Great app for reading books with a wide selection to choose from, however now you can't buy books within the app or on the Amazon app, nor do they provide a link to where you can buy books, so this makes it a pain to aquire new books. -2 stars for making it hard to get books when that's the whole point of the app.

What is the point of having the Kindle app if I cannot use it as a means to buy books? The whole point of having this app is for the convenience of buying books directly, which I've always been able to do with no hassle. The current changes to the app are a step backwards. Very disappointed.

Well built app that has a lot of features. Edit: Had to lower my rating because they removed in app purchases. Google apparently doesnt allow in app purchases anymore without them taking a 30% cut so amazon just decided to remove buying from the app. I hope amazon makes an apk available for users that really want this feature back.

I hate the new policy so much! If I could give this a negative 10 stars I would. I only read on my phone and almost exclusively through the kindle app. I loved the ease of opening my app and being able to purchase books. I really hope sales drop and they can change it back to the way it was before. I think i will start getting more books through the library. So, I am visually impaired. I use this app for my textbooks for school. Unfortunately, this app does not have a text to speech option for the mobile app, and all of my text books are not on audible. I usually have no problems with the app, but I recently started having a problem with highlighting. If I highlight a piece of text, it won't let me select a different color. When I click on the highlighted text to try again, the pop-up menu is blank. I then have to restart the app for it to work, but then it stops working again shortly thereafter. (The one star is just to get your attention... hopefully. Thanks!)

While I use the app regularly, it can often be buggy and refuse to let me read books even when they are downloaded. Also, I don't agree with Amazon removing the option to buy ebooks through the app. They just don't want to pay Google 30% of every transaction. Don't misunderstand, Google is asking for too much and it should be 15% at most, but also, Amazon can afford it and is instead removing a convenience from their customers to save money. I'm deeply disappointed in Amazon and Google.

I used to love the app, but Google just ruined it by mandating the use of Google Pay for all of their apps. The whole point of using an app is to avoid websites, but now Google is forcing Kindle users to purchase ebooks on Amazon's website instead, thereby making the app much less useful. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Amazon needs to throw its weight around and force Google to make an exception for Kindle.

To say we have enjoyed my kindle & kindle app is an unstatment, especially during the pandemic. My husband and I can read books more easily, the only thing is it is hard to reset the book back to beginning for the next reader. Since I don't think two people can read the same book at the same time?

I had to uninstall and reinstall the app because of an issue (known for more than a year now) with samples not being removed from users' libraries, and THEN had to confirm with a very nice customer service rep (genuinely, they were not my issue) that apparently a valuable accessibility tool, the Open Dyslexic font, which I've been using for more than a year, is no longer available. I'm profoundly irritated on a personal level, but also, man, Amazon, not a good look removing ACCESSIBILITY TOOLS.

The new update is horrible!! I use the app on my chromebook & since the new update if you choose "resizable" (which you need to if you want the book to display across the whole page) the app doesn't work correctly or shuts down all the time. Pretty great e reader. Stuff could be better but this works on just about every device. Some student book functions need a full overhaul. Textbooks are used differently in different disciplines. Well, I was going to try to contact the developers at Amazon to suggest an feature update that is critical for me and other people with ADHD. But the address on this listing goes to a dead mailbox. It took a minute to adjust to reading digital books, and specifically graphic novels again, but I've come to really reading on the Kindle app. I especially like the way the library is set up. The way you can toggle between what is downloaded and what is'nt appeals to my OCD, cause I like to download and put back books on a whim. If you pay for prime you ought to check it out at least. I have a DC Infinite subscription, but I think the Kindle library is a little more user friendly.

Easy to use, keeps track of the page you left off at. Also, you can bookmark a page and by highlighting a word, you can get the definition. It has a translation feature too but may not be able to translate always. I'm not sure if that's because it doesn't recognize the language or if there's a glitch at times. It has a nice feature that keeps track of your reading progress which provides an insight on how much you've read. You can easily search for authors and books. Audio capabilities also.

They are starting to let you group by series. But you have to buy all new copies of your books because it doesn't work on the orignal copies for some reason. Finally a halfway decent shot at letting collections get organized, but poor showing overall. How the very thing that founded the company is the worst maintained lays beyond me. I keep checking back hoping to be able to utilize the kindle, and am continually disappointed.

The latest update is buggy. My app is set to dark mode, but when I use the view in store feature, the book page is unreadable because it reverts to white background with almost white text. The app keeps crashing and losing the latest progress, sometimes going back 100 pages or more. I tried solving that by placing bookmarks periodically, but the crashes lose those, too. I'm stuck having to advance past every single page again until I reach the latest point. Cover images sometimes do not load.

I have used the app for years and have always loved it until recently. I can no longer pause or play with my earbuds and since I wear them working or hunting it's a big problem. Every so often the app just randomly crashes and when I reopen it it brings me back to some random earlier read location so I have to keep scrolling forward to find where I left off. Update: the big is STILL not fixed I'm about to delete the app as soon as I find an alternative. It's crashing and never returns to my spot

Recently, dark mode in the store isn't working properly for me. All text remains grey, but the area of book details and blurb have a white background making it almost impossible to use. Also, it would be really nice if kindle unlimited would stop reccomending books I've already read or preferably report at the top "last borrowed on " like it does with books you've purchased. There's already a reading history, make it actually do something other than just take space on servers.

like all Amazon apps, poor ui design and non intuitive steps to get from point a to point b in the application hinder ease of use and increase frustration while trying to find reading materials that suit your tastes. keep in mind that this is a consumer-facing product that is intended to sell other products, that is, books and possibly audio books, the application requires multiple clicks/touches to browse titles, and then a subsequent back back back back back sequence to return to the main shop

good app overall for reading text....however...reading graphic novels can be a bit challenging on smaller devices, even with the ability to focus on a specific image. on larger devices...the sheet music side of things will display a static image, with no ability to resize the music. So it makes it almost impossible to read. Open to suggestions on apps that allow reading sheet music.

The auto update function is practically non-existent. It's just a hard to find option buried deep in the settings and when you finally find it it does NOTHING! I've my Kindle. I have 3 Kindle notebooks. But, the one I use the most is the Kindle app installed on my phone. I can read anywhere. Nothing extra to carry. I have never searched the kindle store and not found a book I want to read. And in my very poor times I was even able to find many free books. Kindle is convenient. Quit working after the last update, starts, never gets past the splash screen then crashes. Really stinks because I don't have a dedicated device so I'm basically shut out of my library because I only use the app on my phone, sometimes in a browser on my home PC. Needless to say, however, I won't be making any new Kindle purchases if I can't trust the app to be stable.

I always have a book to read. I'm enjoying the app. I like the e-dictionary within the text. I click for the meaning of a word and get results quickly and continue with my reading. I like the book recommendations when I select something to read. It helps to keep something lined up for the next read. The lighting within the app is gentle on my eyes for night reading.

Since the March update, the app seldom responds to your selection unless multiple clicks are made. When looking a book, an error occurs and you are forced to the storefront. If you can get a book to appear in your library, an error occurs when downloading. This is not occasional, but almost continous and is extremely frustrating. The Kindle reader is no longer trustworthy or top notch as it used to be. Is quality control no longer applicable to Kindle? No longer recommended.

You can read when & wherever you want. You can build up quite a library on the app. The app will track days you read. Sometimes the app will show you didn't read on a day when you did. This is really annoying when they're running reading 'challenges'. Not worth doing the challenges since if it doesn't recognize you read one day the "fix" is to uninstall and re-install and lose All the days/rewards.

I like and use the app often. I dislike the limited selection and inconsistencies between selections. Sometimes you can freely rotate the book and others are blocked from rotating. Sometimes you can stretch an image to see it more clearly and other selections, you can't. There seems to be little rhyme or reason other than possible deal with the author. Also dislike the limited availability of adult content.

App is Garbage! Google play books I can click button that will read a book out loud to me while I'm driving home, or cleaning up or through my ear buds in the shop. I tried using the talk back app like Amazon website says and it is awful it reads all the notifications and my clock for me and a single page of the book and stops reading. Then I have to flip the page and re-enable the app to try and read another page. Amazon add a button that reads the book aloud to us in the app

Kindle has always been my go-to. Easy to purchase books, syncing is nearly flawless between any device and the add-ons and various subscriptions that you can purchase to enhance your Kindle experience are competitively priced. Some nifty features I'm not certain I'll need, but it casts a wide net in terms of flexibility. Simple to use, simple to customize. I have over 400 books that I have bought over the years. Lately though, there is a rise in past purchases in my library that are no longer recognized in the kindle store. There are reviews on the individual books saying that the series was temporarily removed, then re-added that causes an issue with the purchase order. I can no longer bulk-purchase for ongoing series since it would make me buy past books a second time.

Kindle is the single best purchase I have made for myself. I've been ordering the Kindle books for years from my local library and have currently read almost 1000 books using this device. There is a learning curve for those with little technical skills but we'll worth the effort. Kindle is always upgrading its format always adding features to make it more user friendly. When reading a book with citations, there are hyperlinks within the text to the reference page. However, there is no easy method for returning to your reading point after tapping the hyperlink. You are left stranded many pages ahead, having to flip back to your reading point if you can remember what page you left off on. In addition the sensitivity of tap to turn the page vs double tap to exit to the main menu is terribly incoherent and frustrating.

I really enjoy the availability of books on Kindle and also that prices are often times cheaper than a hard copy, although nothing replaces a hard copy book in the hand. I just wanted to add that I found the name 'Kindle Unlimited' to be deceitful because when I purchased that package, I thought by the name I could read any book for free with the monthly subscription, but it is only books that have the title "Kindle Unlimited" above them that you may read. I felt that was deceitful!

I have been using kindle and the app for what seems like ages now. I've never had an issue with it, and am a big fan. this app has help set up life long readers. I do miss the smell of a fresh new book when you first open those crisp pages. but for time, convenience, and financially cheaper this app beats everything.

I started with Amazon's Kindle some 8 or 9 years ago but only because I received a Kindle reader as a gift from one on my grown children. I quickly found that it was easy to use and worked better than a book when reading in bed which is my preferred activity before sleeping! Also not having to have a light on made it easier to get to sleep. Long story short, it became my preferred reading method. I can carry it anywhere, use it while traveling and never have a insufficient lighting issue.

I used to love this app, but they have made some updates I hate. The description of a book used to be at the top. Now you have to scroll through a bunch of reviews the author hand picks about how great the book is. Blah blah, I just want to know what it's about FIRST! Also, I have Kindle Unlimited, and when I click on an author I used to be able to see which books were Kindle Unlimited from that screen. You can no longer do that. Make changes to improve the app, not make it harder.

Does what it's supposed to do once you figure out how to work it. Sometimes mistakes page turns for highlighting, but mostly a good reader for reading your Kindle books on Android. Works great in tablet and Chromebook, and, much to my surprise and pleasure, offers a better-than-expected reading experience on my phone.

I love this app. My 1 star rating is entirely due to being unable to play/pause the whispersync audio using my Bluetooth device controls anymore. It used to work just fine. These controls mysteriously stopped functioning recently and as someone who always buys the audiobook with the book itself and both reads and listens at the same time, this is incredibly frustrating. Bring back bluetooth device button functions, and I will update my review.

I was reluctant for the longest time to use kindle because I love the feel of the physical book. however, when I found out that kindle can populate a definition for a word and the inception of it and that it allows you to make highlights and then download them, I never returned to physical books and physical highlighters. it needs some improvement but overall an amazing tool for the digital age.

EDIT. So, the problem with the app has gotten worse. I can't even open it anymore, even after Uninstalling it and reinstalling it. The email for help still isn't working... The only reason my rating is 4 stars is because I keep having to uninstall and then reinstall it for it to work again. I keep doing it because I love the app, even though it IS annoying every time I have to do it lol. I try to contact someone about this but the email in the contact information needs to be changed.

The library feature is buggy, and I can't see the books I have. I need to find it in the kindle store again in order to read any books. There is also a backwards compatibility bug where books that have been downloaded a while ago refuse to open, and you need to delete the book and download it again to be able to read it. For essentially a paid service, since you need to buy the books, I expect better

Kindle App is really easy to use. I especially like the convenience of reading on my phone so I can access my books when I travel without having to take a separate device. I also like being able to track my reading and books read. I do wish the app counted books read in a particular month or year even if I've read them previously. There have also been a few times when the app failed to give credit for reading, the most significant of which ended my 533 day reading streak.

I love this app. I would like to see more crossover between audible and kindle. In example, if you buy an audible version of a book, not having to repurchase the audio through kindle and visa versa. Other than that, literally and figuratively a perfect app for reading.

I love Kindle. Any and all of my books, I can highlight whatever line section; or entire paragraph. Meticulous I know, but in doing so; I find my retention level increases so much. Another aspect is Kindle's allowing me to download a section of new books; which gives me the opportunity to feel the levity of the content being presented. That I may have more to go in making my choice of purchasing or not. God bless and stay Safe People ! ! !

Nothing better than Kindle. If your an avid Smartphone user and your phone is always close by. Then Kindle app is excellent way to read books, magazines even. there is a special once you have the Kindle app. $4.99 for 2 months for Kindle unlimited. Read whatever you like and as many as you can read. Sign me up, I say! especially since the average price of a book is under ten bucks. After the trial, its $9.99 a month. Kindle, kindle app & smartphone. Win Win! Says cancel anytime.

Overall the app is awesome. However, I recently found an annoying layout issue. BUG: I have a OnePlus 9 pro, and there's a camera cutout in the top left. While reading, below the camera is the in-app clock, and below that is the book. If you remove the clock there's still that wasted space where there could be another line of text from the book. The app should increase the vertical space and move the clock to the right of the camera.

This used to be a 5 star app for me, but with latest update you cannot play or pause audio books with your earbuds, only using your phone, which is not always easy if your hands are full and someone tries to talk to you. Now you have to fumble your phone out to pause the audio just to hear something else. Very dangerous in my opinion, but they don't seem to care. Who in their right mind thinks removing that function is a good idea?

I have been using Kindle for years. Not only are the book options vase but the app is easy to use and easy to customize to suit my reading experience. I enjoy the layout and the recording of my stats (days and weeks reading) to see where I am at on my new year's resolution. Also being able to switch between devices and keeping my place has been great. Overall, best reading app I have used.

Wonderful to be able to read books on my android device! Very enjoyable indeed! However, for several months, it has been behaving oddly. Have to hold phone sideways to read now for one thing - can't find away to undo that. Then some books load without a cover or title, just a white page and a large question mark. I don't see an update for the app either??? Tell me how to fix this please!

Since last update 2/22, 1. have a sample that will not remove download from device, despite having purchased the book and have it downloaded. 2. Also having glitches of downloaded book's not showing up in my library. I must do a search for them then looks like it takes me to the store to purchase again where I can choose read now. This happens randomly to a title. Can't figure a pattern to this. Love this app for years. Hope this can be fixed soon.

Crashes constantly on multiple devices. Very clunky user interface, can't delete books without going to Amazon page (manage content & devices), won't remove expired library books after several attempts. App seems to be ignored by developers as these issues have been present for years. Won't sync correctly across devices. Difficult to navigate in book itself. Magazines impossible to read & navigate. Getting to be a useless app.

Kindle on a phone or tablet is okay.. could use a better interface, it doesn't feel as intuitive as other entertainment software. Kindle on the Oasis is absolute theft. the software is beyond out dated. It feels like I'm using a chat room from 1994 to search for books. 300$ for the Oasis 15$ for a subscription, another 10$ for audible sub, and finding a book that I don't have to pay for is very difficult. Save your money, stick with the real thing!!

Pretty decent for reading books, but does have some annoying quirks. One of them is that I absolutely cannot get rid of about 10 icons from old books I've previously checked out & returned from local libraries through Overdrive. I delete them, but next time I start the app, there they are. Reinstalling didn't even help. I've reported the problem more than once, but Amazon apparently doesn't care enough to fix it.

1 star, bc this is designed by the biggest company in America. The amount of design flaws, such as how easy it is to delete a flash card deck without being able to reverse the removal, is unreal and frustrating. Maybe it's better for casual reading. It is an awful replacement for reading educational material.

Download Queue notification can't be dismissed. It seems to display any time I download a book that's part of a series that I own. It says "Downloading 4 of 6" as an example. I just installed this app for the 1st time on my new Galaxy S22, but apparently this has been an issue for at least three years according to a Reddit forum, so it's unfortunate that it hasn't been fixed.

Great app until they left a complete sped in charge of a random redesign. Who needs sub categories and filters when navigating a virtual library anyway? Good luck finding your way around this heap of poorly curated garbage if you don't already know the title you are interested in or like to have your books chosen for you through an algorithm. Oh, and they removed all of the audible narations included with plus and want to over charge us a minimum of $3.50 per book to add them back. Because $$

I love reading on Kindle apps! You can make the print bigger or smaller when you need it, highlight text in multiple colors which can later be used for quick notes review or exported to quote in presentations, have all your favorite books accessible on all your devices from anywhere or at any time, be able to purchase (or download the free specials) the most current or classic books that interest you at the click of a button, and organize them in your library your way. It's a reader's dream! ❤

I love my Kindle app. Used for years and struggled through other issues (crashes, library disappearing, restarts) but I am just so frustrated with the continuous scroll bar being on the right. If I turn the page it is on the bottom. Being right handed I hold my phone in my hand and scroll with my thumb. Can't tell you how many times it thinks I want to jump pages. If we had the option to move the bar to the left or right so people could have their preference it would save lots of aggravation

It's a pretty basic reader app that is controlled by Amazon. The controls are confusing and take a while to learn. I wish there was an option to scroll instead of flip pages and I hate the next book referral pops up at the end of the books. It is helpful in the middle of a series to show what book is directly next but related books such as adjacent series and related stand alone books by the same author often do not show up and it is confusing to use the app to get to the authors pages.

This is one of my favorite book apps. I really enjoy the Kindle unlimited as it allows to me to explore new authors with out worrying about wasting money to purchase a book if I don't enjoy it. Doesn't follow along. If I let my device sleep or close app, when I come back to my book it's rarely in my last spot. This is a newer issue. It used to work great, but a couple months ago it stopped. It's really irritating to have to skim through to find my spot. Sometimes I overshoot and read something I'm not to yet. I know it's not a huge deal, but it is annoying.

I like every aspect of reading digital books on Kindle except one so far. I read a lot of books for knowledge and there aren't many pictures but when they do they are usually graphs and detailed illustrations and the quality of pictures on every book on Kindle is extremely disappointing to the point I will have to Google the picture or even purchase a physical copy of a book just to read text or see details in illustrations.

Very user friendly, can bring it with me everywhere I go, all the books you could ever want to read (many good books you can read for free, buy for cheap, or even buy for free)! Highlighting and note taking is a plus as well. Personally nothing feels as good as holding a real book in your hand to read. However sceptical I was about Kindle at first I have gotten over it quickly. I love to read and this gives me another medium to do so. Loving it! 💕

It's way too bright. I turn my phone brightness all the way down at night. I like to read in bed but I don't want to disturb my husband. So, I turn down the brightness in the kindle app, but it's still way too bright. Even with the black page/white writing. Why would you do that? It's significantly brighter than the lowest setting of my phone brightness when not using the app. I'll happily change my review if this issue gets fixed. I love the app aside from that.

This app has been great for on-the-go reading. Plus, with my Kindle Unlimited subscription, it's been easier than ever to meet my 2022 reading goals because of how many books are available for either rent or purchase in the Kindle Store. Overall, the app itself is smooth, intuitively easy to navigate, and great for accessibility. Even if you don’t use a screen reader regularly, the ability to read books with TTS makes it more cost-efficient and convenient to read regularly.

I really love how there's just no way to read my books in the app. They'll work fine on my computer, and then I'll download them on my phone and try to read it there and I'll only get a nice view of the cover, no longer how long I wait or try to navigate. If I do manage to get it working, I love when it snaps back to a random page in the middle of reading, I find it incredibly intuitive to suddenly be 100 pages behind where I was reading for no reason.

It's a book reading app. The GUI is kinda clunky at times and it could improve by using a search feature for college student trying to navigate to a specific section or term. I love that I can read my school textbook from Kindle. It's easy to highlight the text and search for your highlights - this is perfect for taking tests. You can also write notes and create flashcards. Kindle even recommends popular high lights for the topic. Fantastic app with lots of customization options for reader comfort. KindleUnlimited is hands down my favorite part of Kindle. I've discovered so many amazing authors and some of my favorite series because of it! So very worth the money for the monthly subscription. I love having access to my library on my phone if I happen to let my Kindle battery run down. The app keeps track of the book & page no matter what device I use. The handy extras, like the dictionary, wiki & highlighting, are available on my phone as well as on my Fire. There is also a really cool function for people with a bad memory like me if you happen to come across a character you don't remember; highlight a name & you'll get more info. I love the app. The ability to read anything I want, any time I want is wonderful. Having anywhere whisper net access is amazing. My complaint is with the unrelenting efforts to sell me stuff. I know what I want. Having my search screen littered with someone else's ideas is like having a pushy salesman shoving things into my line of vision interfering with my ability to do what I came to do. So I'm never done paying for this "free" app. I pay with my time.

Loved this app for years, makes borrowing books and magazines easy. However, it's difficult to figure out how to return them once you've read an item. pretty darn great. I really like the dictionary feature where you can highlight any word and the definition pops up in a little box. only annoyance is that the app frequently mistakes attempting to scroll down the page as attempting to highlight a section, and constantly dismissing the popups from that disrupts my reading immersion. if this issue gets fixed, it'll be a 5 🌟 app for sure

Changes I'd like to see. Ability to lock text point size of type, it seems to change on it's own. Highlighter is good. But, should also have green. So the library came back but you broke something else in the latest update. All of the book images on the home page are now gone. And sync doesn't work for books read on the phone. Reading with Kindle is perfect for me especially with my devotional reading in the mornings and throughout the day. The best part is Kindle does not need WIFI to operate so you can read anytime and anywhere. Books on Kindle are also discounted, so if on a budget, purchasing power is increased. Kindle is quick, it's easy and it holds your access to many books in one place on one device. My Kindle library is full of my favorite books to enjoy at my leisure.

I'm not one to normally write reviews but this app deserves one. I used to hate reading but it seems it was me not being able to find books I like and I can't get into reading a physical book. This however is convenient and easy to navigate. It suggests similar books and keeps up with your reading speed, books read and next in series. Its worth the $10 a month. Especially since you can read as much as you want and on most devices so its available without having to remember more than your phone.

I get the audible upgrade on a lot of my books and like to listen while doing housework through my Samsung galaxy buds+. For some reason the narration no longer pauses when I tap my earbuds like they used to. Very disappointed that it is no longer possible to navigate a book in any sensible way. Amazon has ruined the app for reading any book with references, footnotes or other hyperlinks. For example; you can no longer go back to the page you were last reading if you decide to follow a footnote. You are lost and must either remember the location you were at or fumble around in the TOC to eventually find your place. Apparently no user testing at A since this major bug would have been easy to catch.

The convenience of having a Kindle is my favorite part of having it. Any book, magazine, etc. available at my fingertips any time. Kindle is also innovative, always adding new features & staying up-to-date with technology. A favorite feature I still love is being able to highlight favorite passages. Kindle PaperWhite 10 doesn't give the option to turn off Highlights, makes me feel I'm always reading a used book, used by hundreds of people who left their scribblings all over it. The highlights, even in black & white, distract from the immersive reading experience that makes reading enjoyable in the first place. Thanks, Kindle, for selling me rudely graffitied books at full price...

As far as I'm concerned, Kindle is the best $9.99 that I spend all month. Their selection of books is seemingly limitless and I like the option of being able to "return" a book to the Kindle Library and download another. They have Audible and there's an option in settings where one can tap the screen and it displays an animated turn of the page. There are also tons of fonts and theme layouts for your books. If you're a reader or want your child to learn to love reading, this is a great way to go

The kindle app is amazing especially for someone like me who likes to listen to books in the car rather than music most of the time. And I would recommend paying for the service monthly as most of the books become free when you do this instead of paying for each book individually. The only complaint I have is that I wish all the books had an audio version for when im needing to be hands and eyes free.

This app is awful. I like Amazon and everything, but this reading app sucks. I only downloaded this app for a class that I'm in right now, since the book I need is no longer being published. Every time I try to scroll down on my touch screen laptop it immediately jumps to the next page or the page before it. I have to use my arrow keys or the mouse to scroll down. Makes me really frustrated and I might just get it somewhere else. Not worth the time.

What more can I say, other an app for reading digital books. But thats just it, its basically like reading a *BOOK* digitally. Maybe you can change the size and font of the text, and a little bit extra, but its not utilizing its strongest selling point -- reading books *DIGITALLY*. Basically, I want a scrolling option, cause its a pain in the neck to look up and down or move my phone, when its a stationary medium that requires you to "turn the page". I'm thankful that it's free but, ADD IT!!

Serviceable reader with good features, but Amazon doesn't put a lot into it to make it truly exceptional. Missing the ability to catalog and organize your books from a desktop computer, you have to do that from the app, and it's barely useable when you have a large collection like I do. Another thing holding the app back is the very poor audiobook support, it's much better to use the Audible app. I've asked for these improvements for years, Amazon doesn't really care.

The app is an amazing eReader which would explain it's popularity. The platform works as well on other smart devices as it does on The Kindle itself. It has a wide variety of books self, published and mainstream. It offers the ability to sync across multiple devices. And where available will offer massive discounts on Audible audio version. The only downside , for me, is that there sre too many notifications and no way to know exactly what notifications are coming in and why .

Not versatile or flexible enough. I'm using this app on a Chromebook Flex and I need this app to work both in tablet mode and laptop mode. I wish there were a way I could anchor it or resize the window without the menus being completely useless, and I wish it also had stylus capabilities so that I can add highlights without going into some secret menu. I'm glad I can use it for school, but it is a headache to navigate.

Not sure if it was the latest update, but functionality with Bluetooth audio controls recently stopped. When using the Kindle app with Audible through a Bluetooth audio device, the pause/play button on the device does not work and appears to do nothing. The same button works in the Audible app and any other app (like podcasts). This is both annoying dangerous when listening to Kindle in the car as you can't stop the playing without taking your phone out, unlocking it, and opening the app.

This app is absolutely garbage. I downloaded the PC version and any highlights or notes you make you can't see. Apparently this is a common problem and you have to download an older version through third parties which I don't want to do. It wasn't so bad until all the highlights and notes I made that I could not see on the PC I could not see on any other device either. In other words it quit syncing and nobody knows why. I have two tickets right now with tech support concerning this program.

Although I prefer to hold a book and smell it's paper, there are things In enjoy about having Kindle. I have the app on my phone as well as an older Kindle Fire. I prefer the dark theme across the board on both devices. So naturally, I prefer the black "paper" with white font of the app. I also recently discovered the font with can aid those with dyslexia. Personally I don't experience it, but it has helped my reading absorb into my head.

I've always preferred print books, the feel, the smell, just something about holding one in my hands & working my way through it, but I'm finding this app to be remarkably helpful, especially when going to appointments where the wait time is uncertain. I can read on my phone for a few minutes or longer, instead of staring at boring walls or lugging heavy books with me. I'll never be a complete convert to digital, but I have become a happy camper with this app. 😀

I have used my kindle so much, I tried to swipe a book page the other day when I was forced to read a irl. I love the ease of use, the back lighting, and the fact that I can size the text. I never loose my pages and when reading for a book club or school I can underline and take notes directly in the book! Best of all I have and entire library in my pocket.

Just abt can't live without! I use it on my phone and another family member uses it on their desktop computer. I have only two things I would change, and they are mild. I could wish for more flexibility in the larger sizes in all of the fonts. (It seems to jump from medium to quite large.) And, the other is for there to be a specific blue light reduction option for those of us who like to read before bed. I use the black background and lower the brightness to approximate it.

For years this app has worked perfectly. For the last month or more, I cannot borrow a Kindle Unlimited title through this app, and have to use my Amzn shopping app. It displays the page to choose which device you wish to download to, but the drop down menu is blank, and then gives an error message. I noticed that another reviewer has also experienced this issue.

I would give this a four star if were easier to set the display to paginate the same as the edition of the print version that it's based on. As it stands, you need the print version to compare with, and then fiddle with the text size controls. The reason that this is important is that if you're taking a class, and you've bought the Kindle version of the textbook, and the prof tells you to go to page X, you can do that instead of looking like a deer in the headlights.

I love reading and the Kindle app is good for the most part. There are a few things I would change about it that I think would improve the overall experience of using it. First, I would like the app better if it automatically sorted my library by series. I know it's supposed to, but it doesn't really work, especially on PC. Secondly, I would make finding the next title in a series as easy as selecting the series in my library. Especially for new releases. Still a good app though.

Only two problems. 1. I want the screen to be able to go darker. Maybe add a slider inside the app that controls the brightness of the app. I'd probably just want the option to go dimmer not brighter. 2 the screen times out when I select to play the audio books. The screen lasts about two pages before the screen gets slightly dimmer alerting you that soon it will go completely dark. This wouldn't be a problem if I could find a spot to touch the screen without flipping the page and having to fl..

Kindle has brought me so much high quality entertainment, it's just amazing! I love to read for an hour or so in the evening, and Kindle has an excellent selection to keep me going forever. I hike long distances, for pleasure and exercise, and I constantly have bluetooth ear buds in, listening to audio books. I also listen while I lift weights. Kindle just makes everything much more pleasant. I will use it from now on, the rest of my life. What a great thing to have!

It works which is nice, but split screen stopped working. I need split screen because I read books in my second language, so I need my dictionary app open at the same time so I can look up and understand words I haven't learned yet (this is not the same as translating, and the in-app dictionary does not support traditional Chinese). Also I often end up turning pages when I try to switch between apps, and it's frustrating trying to select text.

They've made it worse in every way. Why are the lock and screen color options so much harder to find and use now? It's almost impossible to change either with a single finger. Why would you want the menu to start at the top, right of the device only to pop something new out at at the bottom left? Why would the "layout" menu contain the color options? Stupid menu diving sucks.

Might go back to Nook This "hang tight" and not loading your book is getting ridiculous. Was just happening with Unlimited. Now it's happening with purchased books. I can open the book on my phone with same internet connection but not my tablet. And it won't sync. Happens on almost every new book now. I've updated, uninstalled and done every suggested "fix". It's VERY frustrating!!!

I have used this app for ages and normally love it! I get so many books deals from Amazon to use with Kindle. The menu options and/or book organization changed recently and it's hard to find the books I still need to read. My current read is not the default and it's grouping series and authors together whether I have read them or not which makes it really hard to figure out what I want to read next or what I have or have not read. Would be a 5 star review with better way to organize titles.

I enjoy having Kindle. While I enjoy having paper books, this saves me a lot of money (especially with being able to get free books). One feature I wish it had, unless I'm missing it, is the ability to sort my library by genre. I have preferences and the convenience of genre sorting would be fantastic. Overall, really like Kindle.

Seems like app is worsening with each upgrade. When "shopping", doesn't indicate books I previously purchased. Have to "buy". Then will indicate already purchased. Waste of time- shopping this way . App stops, slows, crashes VERY frequently. I have to stop and start all over again if looking through a certain topic. Search function is not real accurate. Books on weird topics turn up out of place and the ones that should show up, don't. AMAZON DOESN'T CARE WHAT WE THINK ABOUT THIS APP.

Brand new user using a reader. Would like to use speed setting and sleep timer I can't reliably bring up the menu sometimes I trip over it but I can't reliable bring it to the surface. Request 0.9 speed setting. 1.0 is too fast 0.74 is too slow moderation please. But not being able to find the sleep timer on my Galaxy Samsung Note 10 plus I don't know how I bring up that menu thank you.

During this past year, my kindle has allowed me access to soo many books! I've spent a lot of time reading and doing research, and being able to connect with others. I wish Amazon would allow shipping to the Virgin Islands. I would love to upgrade my Kindle because I no longer can listen to music or the radio- the sound is gone. Taking it hard to go get an Apple device🙄It has been a beautiful, long ride with my Kindle🤗🤗🤗
