Loved the app and its concept..its truly very helpful for lightning photography.. I wish for a pro mode that gives us a higher resolution. Still great work by the developer..wonderful n one of a kind app..simple n effective for photography enthusiasts.

nice little app exposure can be a problem sometimes with lightning but, you can also use for fun. Do a superman into a swimming pool or jump in the air with a witches broom, lean back as if holding an invisible rope next to a swimming pool for some crazy angles.

Like the app, but images won't display in Windows Photo Viewer for some reason. Inconvenient for me as I like to use that app to quickly cycle through photos.

I absolutely love love this app. I usually dont take time to write reviews but I have gotten some of the best pictures of lightning it's very easy to use and if you love thunderstorms with a great light show then this is the app. To show off some fantastic pictures...and if I could I'd give them 10 stars definitely recomend

I was extremely doubtful that this app would be worth jack, but to my surprise, it works. It would be perfect of it shot in RAW mode or, at least, saved photos in higher quality instead of a jepg that has super compressed.

I hate this app, it shouldn't take photos right off the bat! It needs to trigger when it detects motion just like the lightning camera app on iphones! I hate this app because it's the only lightning camera app on android and it's terrible

This camera is awesome I live in the monsoon region in southern Arizona and I use this app everyday. The settings are a little bit tough to get used to but once you do it's automatic I like to slide the slider all the way to the right that way gives you about 4 seconds beforehand and that's perfect

Absolutely amazing app. Made capturing lightning a breeze. Works great for fireworks as well. The only other feature I would like to see is a set and forget mode. Basically, If I want to leave my phone out during a lightning storm, the app takes a quick burst everytime it sense lightning. Then say, an hour later, I can come back and check through my photos. I have missed a few strikes while looking through the previous burst to save pictures. Add that, and this app would be perfect.

Amazing app for lightning photography. Not good for phones with low quality cameras but great for high quality. Great app.

This app is now worthless on my Note 9 because the app sets the ISO of the main camera too high (maybe a camera update could also be a possibility), resulting in a pixelated mess. Somehow, the front facing camera does not have any issue but I won't even bother with capturing lightning using the front facing camera. For the next update, just add an ISO control option on all the cameras that the app detects on your phone.

Worked better on S4mini than S9. Can't change framerate, skips the best shots every time. The S4mini didnt have that problem, worked amazingly well.

The app works great, and I have captured some awesome pictures of lightning. Just discovered the ability to switch cameras, which now lets me use the wide-field camera on my Samsung Note 10. The one downside of this app is that it only does images in 1080p, and with very little bit depth - images are <100 KB in size, and have those color lines that low-res images have. My phone is capable of taking 60 fps in 4k and saving high-bit-depth HDR video; please let the app take advantage of that!

I love this app! I've used it for at least 7 years and have caught many photos of lightning. I do, however, wonder what those bright horizontal bands are that go across the photo sometimes.

The autofocus sucks, and it doesn't make it obvious how to switch for phones with multiple cameras. Difficult to save rapidly, meaning you'll miss opportunities. And what I really wanted was an app which auto saved based on the lightning flash automatically

Works very well but it saves no details or GPS data. It doesn't even save basic camera information. (Cost me a win in a competition because I could not prove the source of the photo)

When I burst it's because I want to save all the images... So save all the images. And the resolution it takes photos is the one tenth of my camera's resolution.

Works beautifully. Would love a few more manual controls to tweak the images captured (ie, manual focus). I installed this because we had a little light show and this was the first app I found that would capture it. Does a good job of that.

Its cool but... :D its always some but :D My cam can record 960 fps, 240 or 120, that would be cool if i leave phone "on record" and app can save lighting in that fps ... so that would be pretty amazing slow mo lighting clip. Whats more i think app is doing a bit "uglier" phootos than stock app. 4 stars and i hope there will be update or smt like that . Good Job !

Have trouble with the app at times especially after several minutes of running it in use. 3 stars because I'm really bummed out that I no longer have the ability to zoom in on my field of view, and I KNOW I could before. 5 stars if you can please re-add this function. I'm respectfully and sincerely asking... Please. Other than that. Thank you for making a one of a kind awesome app. If I had it sooner I'd have the most incredible lightning bolts captured. Missed 2 great seasons before installing

THIS IS AMAZING! At first this wasn't what I was looking for, but it turned out to be very good. You can actually take pictures of stuff that happened in the past. Like for real. Just one request to developers, please allow higher resolution for photos and allow the use of multiple cameras. I can switch between front and rear but, can't change between wide and ultra wide on my phone. All in all thanks for this!

I really like the app but for some reason i got much better images with my Samsung s4 than with the s7. more often on the s7 half of the picture is over exposed and the other half still dark. anything you can improve? So in the meantime I am on the s10e but still the same issues prevail. Almost impossible to get a good shot. What worked like a charm on the s4 does not anymore. Hence dropping the rating

It's great but I'd like to suggest something. You guys can make the shutter button work like a video. After pressing the shutter button it will keep capturing videos and when lighting shows up it will automatically save the last few seconds from the video to get the perfect lighting effects. Then you can show us to choose which snap we would like to keep. It will be much easier I guess.

There is no chance to take second or third pictures frame, unless i go first to the taken pictures menu, and then go back to shooting camera again,or I have to close and reopen the app for the next shooting frame. Why the app starting shooting automatically right now when it is been opened?

This is the very BEST stop-action app camera on the internet, hands down. This super crisp and clear fast shutter camera is designed different than all other fast cameras available. Lighting Camera is simply the best - the fastest - with the clearest photographs for you the photographer - everytime. Sports, flying objects, even flowing water, is no match for your new lighting camera app from the play store. Have fun shooting everything you can think of even ghosts are captured on film with it.

Finally an app that actually works for lightning shots is available for android. The app for iPhone was great but I didn't want to keep using an iPhone just for that anymore, this isn't the same as that one but overall it's just as good. Pretty cool app. Just one feature I'd like to see - control over the picture size/quality. It looks like the pictures are taken as 1920 x 1080. It would be great to be able to capture the full resolution that the camera is capable of, even if it might result in a slower capture rate. The shots captured would be much higher quality.

I am impressed with how well it works. I have taken a few hundred shots already and have gotten some pretty amazing photos already. I like that that you can set the buffer size and exposure. There is a control to turn off the contenuas focus but it doesn't seem to work. It would be great if when contenuas focus is off you could just tap the screen and it would do a quick focus and lock on that setting until you tap it again but with contenuas off it still tries to focus. This is on a Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Nice concept, but the image quality is quite low resolution, since this come from camera 'previews' (if I understand correctly). Also would be interesting to have automatic lightning detection, so you could just drop it on a tripod, and the app saves matching frames automatically

Best daytime lightning camera if not the only one I have seen! have a Note 4 and it drops the picture size from 1080 P to 720 P but the pictures come out fine. Somtimes you still loose a frame here or there do to the cameras sensors protective mesures but much less loss than the regular camera. Good at catching dimmer or more distant lightning discharges. Bright or closer discharges are completely washed out/over developed. So it's been mixed. Night time flashes, for the most part forget anything bright. Even with minus 4 compensation. This afternoon during a thunderstorm, it didn't capture anything at all, just partial split screens. However, other times it did a good job. Just 2 mp's photos.

This app is ALMOST perfect. It's a little complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it...it's not so bad. Could my 72 year old father use it? Probably not...but...if you are even remotely tech savvy...you can figure it out. The only thing I wish to change is the photo size. They end up being rather small...and if you catch a beautiful lightning bolt picture...it would be nice to use it to order a large printed version to hang on a wall. But...overall...it does a fantastic job with catching something that is literally faster than an eye blink. I highly recommend it.

Great for capturing o'scope traces! I use this on a scope with no digital storage or "persist" to get a good look at quick transient signals.

Clever little app! I grabbed it before the summer monsoons started, and I've been having a great time with it. We had a storm last night that was very close. Many of the pix were almost totally white-outs, but I got some excellent mid-fork pix, too. This is a treasure!

Very good for those that know photography. Continously captures photos until you "freeze" time to capture the correct momentum you are after. Excellent for phones with very good computing power. Some might not work so well do check your specs first.

Basically it buffers or records video for a set amount of time you can set (buffer) then if you press a sec or 2 late it had recorded say 64 frames prior so between that time (could. Be 3 seconds) it should show up some good quality action shots!

I have caught many, amazing, shots of lightning with this app. Some were so good they were aired during my local news broadcast. Most people seem shocked when I tell them I just used my Note 5 and this app for my pictures. Also good for anything 'fast' such as birds in flight.

This app is really good, you need a little bit of practice but once you have got the hang of it, it works a treat. Have managed to take a few nice snaps of lightning, and with being able to save consecutive frames have some nice animations too. Just need more thunderstorms!

I used to LOVE this app and the AWESOME photos it took... but the camera button no longer controls the start of the burst shots. Instead, the app automatically starts taking photos when the app is opened or when you come out of viewing the photos it's already taken. This takes the control away from the person taking the photos, as I can normally time the shots based on the lightning patterns.

I have done lighting photography in other ways, but this is by far the easiest. I would love to see two features. First is higher resolution. Second would be the addition of some stacking capability to allow two or three frames to be layered by the user. I have done this before manually so you get the main bolt AND the immediate afterglow. Combined it makes a cool visual. Just a couple thoughts. Thanks!

I am able to capture the lightening but the photos have a strange horizontal striping effect. I have adjusted the settings to the extremes and everywhere in between and it makes no difference. My camera is awesome otherwise so I'm not sure why it only happens with this app. I'm using a Droid Mini.

Welcome to your new addiction of lightening photography. This amazing app takes super fast photos of lightening or any fast paced item like fireworks, baseball and puts them in a grid in which you can save the selected photo(s) and share, then quickly go back for more photos. Love it!

cool app. still have issue with it crashing while trying to increase buffer. zoom would be great. cropping over and again to enlarge smaller, distant strikes degrades quality quite a bit. Also got some interesting shots of fireworks on the 4th. But I have got some wicked pics of lightning. multiple exposure to combine shots would be awesome.

After 12 years of trying I finally captured my first lightning strike last week! It wasn't with this app though... I was using burst mode on my phone and out of 690+ pics that night I only got ONE decent pic of a strike. Tonight I decided to search lightning app and found this. With this app I've captured dozens in one hour! I believe it could also come in handy taking pics at sporting events and of other fast moving objects. I even used it to take pics of my dog playing! Works perfectly for anything fast!

Obviously, this app is going to be heavily dependent on the actual camera hardware, as it can't spend time doing software processing on the frames. But you can just save the frames with potential and take them into your favorite photo editor, like Snapseed.

...on the horizon; the thunderhead of charcoaled black and ominous clouds. The glow and fire of the sun crackled and boiled within, raging to escape it's confines and kiss the earth once again. And there I stood, prepared to catch but a small glimpse of the power wielded by the ancient gods such as, Zeus and Thor. Little did the Old Father or Thunder God know, that I now hold the power to capture it.

....the data collection this app now does is unwelcome. The app provides an opt-out link, but that seems to either not work or is bogus. I will be removing this app - however useful it was. That's the only reason it wasn't rated one star - data collecting is shady in my book!

It is ultimately missing a key piece. In the middle of a storm it should save everything you have taken to pick through after. I just took a bunch of great pics from my porch, I didn't have time at that moment in the middle of a great storm to review and save the best ones. Unfortunately I ended up with nothing because every time I took another capture I was erasing the previous one. Other than that its a great app but I can't use it like that.

App works okay, but I find swiping through pics to find the one to save fairly cumbersome. The swiping isn't very smooth and I have a hard time with it. Otherwise, I haven't had any issues with it. Would like an option to record high res photos, if possible. *update* swiping through pictures had been fixed and now works normally. Gotta bump up the rating. Wonder if not being able to have full res pics is a limitation of the phone. Q: I have a galaxy s5; I assume that it records at the highest resolution?

Great app, new interface looks very smart. Some other features that could be added; 'set and leave' function such as trigger on flash or strike, Auto save brightest/strike images, select images and generate animation. Maybe a press and hold trigger that captures -2 and +1 seconds when released. Would be useful if scanning across the sky or capturing images at sporting events.

Interesting app - used it a few times during a storm to try and capture lightning on my Sony Xperia Acro S (water resistant). It crashed on me a few times, right when the best fork of lightning all night struck which I missed. It does need some sort of focus control - preferably 'infinity' or some sort of manual control or lock. But I'll keep with it for now. And the night shots are terribly grainy but that's more of a device issue than the app.

20 stars, if I could! I have no idea how it performs during storms as intended, but I know I got some amazing shots of my fast moving 3 year old at the fair and splashing in rain puddles. There is definitely a learning curve, and you have to hold your phone steady, but the photos are crystal clear.

Overall this app works exactly as it says and does a very good job of capturing lightning or any fast moving object. (Great multi-shot camera app!) I would recommend this app despite a few small downsides that I've noticed. Occasionally this app will crash on my phone if I increase the apps buffer time but it's fairly consistent if I leave the settings at their defaults. It would also be very nice to see more options for the camera with future updates, if possible (primarily resolution control).

Very neat idea! Was able to capture some decent shots very quickly. Agree with the comment that a focus lock is needed. My second batch came out very blurry. Then I could just set the phone up on a tripod and let it capture the whole storm automatically. :)
